Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

When do you get your period on the pill?

You should get your first period after beginning your birth control pills when you start taking the inactive pills (the green pills in some packs) or within taking a couple of the inactive pills.

Since you are just starting out, you may be experiencing breakthrough bleeding, in which you have some vaginal bleeding at odd times that only lasts for less than a day and isn't necessarily all that heavy in comparison to your regular period. You will also experience breakthrough bleeding if you miss one too many pills in the pack.

If you miss your period on your first set of inactive pills, it would be wise to seek a pregnancy test. If it is negative, and you miss your next period on your second set of inactive pills, you should seek the advice of the prescribing doctor. It's possible that you could have a condition, one being endometriosis. From experience, birth control pills had no effect on the regularity of my cycles whatsoever. But this isn't likely for you, just a possibility, and a point to showing how necessary it is to speak with your doctor.

Does menstruation occurs after conceiving?

No, conception isn't possible during menstruation. During menstruation there is no egg present to be fertilised, although it's important to point out that a woman may still be fertile during menstruation: there may be fertile cervical mucus present, which can keep sperm alive in the vagina long enough so that there is still sperm present when a woman ovulates after menstruation.

Is there any way to alter or postpone a monthly period?

Answer Postponing Menstral CycleThere is a way to alter your menstrual cycle if you are taking birth control pills. Over the course of at least 4 months you can take a 30 day course of birth control pills instead of the normal 28 days. Add two extra birth control pills each month and over the course of a few months you can alter your menstrual cycle to begin at a later date. You must then stop the additional pills to regulate your menses to the normal 28 day cycle. This often helps when you need to change your cycle in situations where you have planned a honeymoon or are traveling to places where there is just no conveniences.

There is also a medication that completely stops the menstrual cycle which is used in situations where women are suffering from endometriosis. Some doctors believe the cessation of the menstrual cycle can stop and sometimes reverse the damage which can be caused by endometriosis.

How reliable are birth control pills?

No, because fools are so ingenious. Taken properly, birth control pills are about the most reliable form of birth control other than abstinence or surgical sterilization. However, the user is required to take them properly as opposed to, say, shoving them in her ear, or more likely forgetting to take one or more over the course of a month. Also, even when taken properly, there is still a small rate of failure.

You used to have a period but you went on the pill and come off it after 6 months and since then you havnt had a period does this mean you will never be able to have children?

This is a medical issue, please see your physician.

Though usually it only takes less than a few weeks for the effects of the pill to wear off, some women have variable times and effects due to their different bodies.

Or, it could mean that you are pregnant.

When can you except your period if you are on birth control?

Birth controls come in packs of 21 or packs of 28. Packs of 21 have the 3 weeks of the evenly spread hormones which you take around the same time everyday. On your fourth week you DO NOT take ANY birth control and your period should come sometime around that. For packs of 28 (the pack I have) the fourth week is just sugar pills to remind you that you must take the pills everyday. If you have the pack of 28 your period should come around the 2nd or 3rd day you start taking the sugar pills.

Can you get an STD from sucking a breast?

STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) by nature require sexual contact to be transmitted. Someone may get herpes or syphilis from someone sucking their breasts, and then may pass it along to someone else. Breast milk may include HIV, although an adult drinking infected breast milk may be at lower risk than an infant. Overall, the person with the breast is more likely to get an STD from this activity than the person whose mouth is on the breast.
Absolutely not!

How much does the average person spend on toiletries per month?

The average monthly cost of personal hygiene items for women depends entirely on what products are used - for example tampons would be a regular monthly cost, verses menstrual cups which are only bought once and last for up to a decade. It also depends on what you count under 'personal hygiene items' - just menstrual products, or do you also count medications and cleansers?

Typically tampons alone (not counting multiple absorbencies needed, the pads that also should be used with tampon use such as overnight, or that some women may also use pads as back-up) will cost around $6.10 per month. Typically menstrual pads alone will be $4.27 per month. Menstrual cups alone will be $0.27 per month: remembering menstrual cups are only bought once in a decade so this price would be the average cost of one menstrual cup spread-out over ten years.

Why do girls get cramps?

Menstrual cramps are caused by contractions in the uterus, which is a muscle. The uterus, the hollow, pear-shaped organ where a baby grows, contracts throughout a woman's menstrual cycle. If the uterus contracts too strongly, it can press against nearby blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscle tissue of the uterus. Pain results when part of a muscle briefly loses its supply of oxygen.

What do do do to regulate your period?

It depends on why your menstrual cycles are irregular to begin with.

When we talk about irregular cycles we're talking about weeks or months difference from one cycle to the next - up to a weeks variation from your average cycle is normal - and when your menstrual cycle is irregular like that there's a reason that should be investigated and treated by your doctor.

You can help regulate your cycles by staying healthy: eat a healthy balanced diet, exercise regularly, sleep well, avoid stress, maintain healthy weight - it also helps to take daily multi-vitamins and a herbal treatment like chaste tree to help regulate hormones, lunaception can also help.

Hormonal birth control DOES NOT regulate menstruation, it actually does completely the opposite - it works by stopping your menstrual cycle so that you don't ovulate, and thus you don't menstruate - the bleeding women experience on hormonal birth control is a withdrawal bleed controlled by the birth control. This will just temporarily cover-up the problem, and can make it worse when you stop.

Why aren't I on my period yet?

Some indicators could be that you are underweight, undernourished, obese, or pregnant. See a doctor.

One of the main reasons someone doesn't get their period is because they are pregnant. Try a home pregnancy test or go to your local health department, Planned Parenthood, or even your doctor and ask for a pregnancy test.

If the test is false or it's simply not possible that you could be pregnant (ie you've abstained from sex since your last period), another major cause of someone missing their period is because of stress. If you've had a particularly bad past few weeks as far as stressful situations go, that can put a hold on getting your period.

Next, another cause for missing a period is illness. This could be something as simple as a particularly longstanding cold you might have been battling or something else like endometriosis among many other reproductive diseases or perhaps even an STD. This is something that will have to be investigated by your GYN to know for sure what the cause is.

Also, some birth control pills offered today make you only have so many periods in a year. Meaning, you will skip several throughout the rest of the year. If you are taking one of these brands of birth control, it is normal to miss a period.

Other issues such as malnourishment, eating disorders, or other weight issues can also effect your period.

Last, but not least, if you are old enough that maybe menopause is just around the corner, that is a culprit that will put an end your period days.<br>

If my period comes and i start the pill then stop two days after can you get pregnant?

Dear Reader; What BCP's do is change the hormone levels in your body. Generaly the goal in doing that is to allow periods once a month but not ovulation. What does happen depends on just which pill is used and the makeup of the individual body. With that in mind, it is possible to have a delayed period or sooner or not at all. You should have regular periods while taking the mentioned pill after your body adjusts to it. If not then do see your doctor. Dwight

How do you induce your first period?

I donno i havnt had mine
i want to induce my periods what do i do

~

This is what i do and it ACTUALLY works im not trying to fool anyone.

ok so you take about 2 Tsp. of shredded up parsley (or fresh from the store would be the best)
put it in water then either bring the water to a boil or stick in the microwave for about 2 minutes. let it sit for about 30 minutes (the longer it sits there the better)

then strain it, you can add some ginger to it also (which will help the inducing part) and some honey to sweeten it. sorry it doesnt taste the best but it will work. I dont know about inducing ones first period though.

I drank 2 cups one night then the next day i drank about 4 or 6 and had some spotting, the next day my period was completely started XD

though if you are wanting start your first period i would say take alot of vitamin C (not to much you dont want to get the runs) and Green Tea

If the flow is not more like the normal period it is what is normally called spotting. If you have a cycle every 28 days when do you ovulate?

Unfortunately, ovulation differs from woman to woman. The myth that a woman ovulates on her 14th day is not true. The timing of ovulation is complex and can take some studying of your body and your cycles to figure out. A combination of methods, such as studying cervical fluid, taking your temperature, and tracking your periods, can help you to calculate your ovulation. The American Pregnancy Association estimates that this is anywhere between 11-21 days since the last menstrual period, or 12-16 days from when you expect the next menstrual period to start.

In other words, study your own body to figure it out.

Other methods could be "spotting" after your cycle, caused by a drop in estrogen just before ovulation, or 20% of women experience middelschmertz, pain in the abdomen produced at the time of ovulation.

Is something wrong if you have your period twice a month?

I don't think its abnormal. This happens to me a few months out of the year. When I was in high school I would regularly get my period every 2 weeks. Everyone's cycle is different, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

How can you tell when you are going to start your period?

It can be different for everybody. I tend to feel light stomach cramps and then within a couple of hours of feeling these cramps i start. Some of my friends get the cramps a couple of days before. The more you have the more you start to notice your own pattern.

When coming on your period can you concive?

No, a woman cannot be fertilised during menstruation - it is biologically impossible to ovulate during menstruation, however in the right conditions sperm from sex during menstruation can survive for up to 7 days by which time a woman may ovulate and thus get pregnant. If a woman doesn't want to get pregnant she and her partner should always use birth control.
