Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

Yes, almost every girl gets their period. Sometimes you might not get it until your older than 16, other times you can start at 9 or maybe even younger. It all depends on your body type for when you start your regular period.

Can you get in the tub when you are on your period?

Yes you can get in the tub when your on your period. You may start to leak a bit in the tub tho.It mainly depends on how heavy your flow is though. If your flow is really heavy i would not advise you to do this because, if your leaking in the water its not going to feel good...plus u are suppose to be washing....when you get out of the tub you are going to feel dirty and kind of messy. plus when you get out of the tub if your flow is heavy your going to mess up the floor...so have a towel or something ready for when you get out....I am writing this from experience...iit was one of the worst ive had....(Then again you could always wear a tampon when your in the tub so that you wont leak....ok im tired of writing now lol GOODLUCK with your bath hope this helps. :)

What is wrong if you have 3 periods in a month?

You just have an irregular period, no worries....possibly consider a prescription for birth control, i was prescribed to it for this very reason when i was 14.

What does it mean when you period is extremely heavy and having the the most painful cramps ever?

This is normal and nothing to worry about. Take aspirin, put a heating pad on your tummy and drink hot tea. The heat will stop the cramps and the aspirin will help dull the pain. ( I know all about this since I had this every month). I did find that taking the pill stopped this from happening each month, so if this becomes a monthly event think about the pill to help you.

Behavior cycles that take place over a period of about one day are called?

Circadian rhythms. These are biological processes that follow a 24-hour cycle, such as the sleep-wake cycle and fluctuations in hormone levels throughout the day. These rhythms are regulated by internal biological clocks in the body.

Can birth control shorten you period?

No, but that's because you don't get a period on hormonal birth control.

Hormonal birth control works by stopping your menstrual cycle so that you no longer ovulate, and thus in turn you no longer menstruate. The bleeding you get on hormonal birth control is a withdrawal bleed caused by the drop in synthetic hormones when going from active to placebo week. A withdrawal bleed may be shorter than your period depending on the length of your menstrual phase verses your withdrawal bleed, and withdrawal bleeds can be lighter too.

A word for heavy menstrual period?

The medical term to mean a heavy period is Menorragia.

Menorragia is when the menstrual flow is over 80ml, although this is still fairly light compared to many people's menstrual flow. If you're leaking through ultra tampons or maxi pads within an hour then talk to your doctor to check everything is okay and get Tranexamic Acid to reduce flow, also consider a menstrual cup which hols more flow and can even lighten your flow too.

Can I Start birth control pill halfway through cycle?

Can birth control pills cause nausea dizzy spells and fatigue?

Yes, hormonal birth control has a major effect on the body as a whole so birth control pills can cause a wide range of symptoms - including nausea, fatigue, and dizzy spells. If you suspect your pill is causing these side-effects stop using the pill and talk to your doctor about finding another brand of pill, type of pill, or another birth control method.

What does it mean when your stomach is hard at the top you havent had your periods in months?

What is a menstaul cup or diva cup?

Menstrual cups are bell-shaped flexible cups, normally made from silicone but can also be made from rubber or thermoplastic elastomer, they are inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual flow.

Unlike tampons cups don't harbour bacteria or encourage bacteria to grow, cups also allow your vagina to continue cleaning itself as it would normally, cups don't damage vaginal tissues, and cups don't contain harmful ingredients as many tampons and pads do - so cups are safer and more hygienic.

The cup is folded (when folded the cup is little different in size than a tampon, only as it's smooth insertion is easier), then inserted into the vagina, once in place the cup opens itself and you create light suction to prevent leaking by turning the cup. The cup can be worn for up to 12 hours, and unlike tampons cups are safe to wear with any flow, before your period, overnight, and no need to alternate with pads. When it's time to empty you grab the base of the cup to break the seal and then gently pull out, once out you empty the cup, wash-off and if necessary you reinsert.

The cup sounds complicated to use and there can be a steep learning curve for some women, but once you know how they're easier to use than tampons and pads - far more convenient and less messy too. Cleaning also puts some women off, but it's only blood and washing is no more complicated to wash a cup than washing your hands when you use the bathroom - it's rare that you need to empty in public, but if you do then you don't have to wash the cup, just wipe and re-insert.

Menstrual cups are becoming popular because they're;
- Safe and hygienic, no risk of TSS or vaginal infections.
- Can reduce menstrual cramps and flow compared to tampons.
- Don't contain chemicals, bleach, or dioxin like tampons/pads.
- Can be worn for 12 hours, with any flow and at any time.
- Reliable, hold more and have suction so don't leak like tampons/pads.
- Environmentally friendly, reduce harmful manufacturing and waste.
- Cheap, last for ten years so work out far less than tampons/pads.
- Ethical, small independent transparent women-run companies.
- Body-positive, no use of menstrual taboos to sell products.
- Educational, help you learn about your body and monitor flow.

There are lots of additional benefits of cups over tampons and pads, they're especially good for active women or women with heavy flow as well as being a better option for younger women. Cups would be far more popular if only more people knew about them, and if so many women weren't grossed-out by their own bodies or immature as to be put-off by using something they think is "gross". Cups are an all-round far better option than tampons or pads, so worth you looking into.

Different menstrual cup brands; Mooncup, Divacup, Ladycup, MeLuna, Miacup, Femmecup, Lunette, Moon Cup US, Keeper, Fleurcup, Green Donna, Iriscup, Hygina, Alicia, MPower, Naturcup, Yukki Cup, She Cup, Juju, Si-Bell, Natù, Mami, Copita, MiaLuna, Rubycup, FreeSiya, Misscup, Lily Cup, LilaCup, Femmycycle Cup - there are new brands coming out all the time, they're all slightly different in size and shape, some have different stems, and some have different colours or even glittery.

You can also get similar options called Softcups - these are the same idea so have similar benefits such as being safer and more convenient than tampons, but softcups are diaphragm-shaped and sit higher in the vagina so can be more difficult to insert, also unlike menstrual cups can be messy and leak. Menstrual cups are reusable where as softcups are either disposable (although can be reused if you're careful) or reusable for just one cycle. You can also use diaphragms as menstrual cups.

How do you hide the fact that you are on your period?

Well, you don't want to risk the chance of it seeping through your clothes, so make sure you wear very dark clothing. Don't wear white, or pastel colors. Black leggings and a dark top should hide just incase it leaks through your pants. Also, wear long shirts. If it does happen to show up on your pants, pull down your shirt. Always have about 4-5 pads with you, or more, depending on how long you'll be out and about. And a change of clothes, just incase. You want to be over-prepared in the worst situation possible, not under-prepared. Make sure you carry perfume and deodorant just so you ease your hormonal scent. In. Simple: Wear darker/longer clothes than normal, and have deodorant or spray with you at all times.

What does it mean when you get your period from sex but only lasted a few hours?

It wasn't your period it was actual bleeding and could have been caused by a tear in your vagina, or from having sex for the first time and breaking your hymen.

If you get your period during the active pills should you continue the pill as scheduled?

You should continue taking the pills as scheduled regardless of bleeding. Unscheduled bleeding is common in the first three months of use. Stopping the pill every time you have bleeding will only prolong this "breaking in" period. If the bleeding is troublesome, lasts longer than three months, or is accompanied by pain or abnormal vaginal discharge, contact your health care provider.

You stopped your birth control a month ago and still no period is this normal?

I would not be concerned after a single month. Give it another month.

I was on the pill for 10 years before I went off it. We were ttc almost straight away after I came off the pill. I got my withdrawl bleeding after my last pill in the packet and then I had no period for 50 days. Spent a fortune on pregnancy tests cause was getting no period and also had pms before each period which I had never got while on the pill so was convinced that I was pregnant every time. I took about 7 or 8 months before my cycles came anywhere close to normal

How long before period do breasts hurt?

Breast pain is common but not a normal part of the menstrual cycle or menstruation, if you do experience breast tenderness it may be due to hormonal imbalance so check for solutions to this. Your breasts can be tender around ovulation, which occurs around two weeks before your period, and from then up until menstruation or even during menstruation - everyone is different.

When taking birth control if you miss an active pill the day before you start your inactive pills and dont remember you didnt take the active pill and you get your period a day early now what?

Forget about it. Continue taking your pills as normal (don't take the missed pill). If you are actually worried about pregnancy, don't be too concerned. Your period will probably take care of things naturally.
