I'm not sure where it is on the 2001 CLK 430, but on the 99 clk 430 it located between the rear of the engine bay and the rear of engine on the driver's side! Black connector. You'll need a flashlight since the location is hidden from sight. I'm in the process of changing mine. You can buy the Crank Position sensor at autohaus in Arizona for $56.87. there is no oil dipstick. The oil can be checked electronically from the dash computer system. On CLK 320 there is however a dipstick tube and a cap on it and same for the automatic transmission . ZD Mak tools and Samstag tools sell dipsticks for Newer model Mercedes but the dipstick should not be left in the oil dipstick tube -- only use for checking oil level with engine not running . The AT dipstick however is inserted while car is in park , engine running but is also not left in place . Very easy to overfill AT so only add 200 cc ( baby bottle and slim ,rolled paper funnel works well ) between measurements . AT fluid level not at all prone to dropping unless leaking which is rare on newer models .

what year is the CLK? Most known reason for that car to stall would be the crank position sensor (CKP) its located on the left (drivers side) of the transmission bell housing, and can be accessed from the top. The easiest way to tell if that sensor is bad, is if the engine stalled when it was hot/warmed up, and then would not restart until the engine cooled off. Could also be a fuel pump issue, but the crank sensor is much more common.
