After the death of his mother when he was seven years old, Michelangelo lived with a stonecutter and his wife and family in the town of Settignano. When very young he was allowed to take part in sculptor training, and there he was noticed by Lorenzo "il Magnifico" dei Medici. Lorenzo then let young Michelangelo come and go in Lorenzo's home much as he pleased. He did not move into that house, though.
