Yes, you can overdose on muscle relaxers. It is always recommended that you follow the dosage recommended on the bottle, these dosages aren't guidline...they're lifelines because overdosing on any drug can be lethal. Muscle relaxers when taken correctly can relieve a person from pain...either from tension or some other injury. Taking more than recommended however, puts your body in serious danger. Breathing is done through a person's diaphragm (the muscles between the ribs and the abdominal muscles), heart and lungs. Since the diaphragm is a muscle (as well as the heart and the lungs) overdosing on muscle relaxers (of anykind) can relax these very important muscles to the point where they are no longer working or no longer working hard enough to meet the body's needs. This is why it's very important to pay attention to what your exact dosage is and any side effects you may have while on it (difficulty breathing, chest pain extreme drowsiness or dizziness etc.) If a person suspected of muscle relaxer overdose is admitted to the ER it is considered a very serious thing (as with any other drug OD). Blood will be taken immediately to determine how much the person took and how much of the drug is in the blood stream. Breathing and heart rate will be closely monitored and oxygen will be given to make sure enough is getting to the brain. Since it takes 24-48 hours for the drugs to exit your system (though it relies a lot on how much was taken, how close together and when) hospitals will want to admit the patient to the ICU so that they can carefully monitor them for the duration recommended by the attending physician Large overdoses can cause a person to go into a coma and/or leave them with permanent brain, heart or liver damage. i just took half a 5mg. Valium last night about an hour or so before bed- in about twenty minutes i could feel myself calming down, ( i have sleep problems) - it was very calming, made me not think about mounds of things when i would lay down for the night. it didnt make me totally sleepy- i could function on it in the day time and prolly be in a very good mood! it doesnt really do much to you, just makes you feel very relaxed.

Yes, though fatal overdoses on most Benzodiazepines are rare. In general though, the hypnotic(anti insomnia) benzodiazepines are much more toxic compared to the anxiolytic(anti anxiety) benzo's. Some of the more potent hypnotic benzo's have been fatal on their own in moderate doses.

Long acting low potency anxiolytic benzo's such as Diazepam(Valium), Chlordiazepoxide(Librium), Prazepam(Reapam) and Clorazepate(Tranxene) are the least toxic. The moderate acting more potent anxiolytic benzos such as Bromazepam(Lexotan), Oxazepam(Seresta), Lorazepam(Temesta), Alprazolam(Xanax) and Clonazepam(Rivotril) are more toxic, but still not as toxic as any of the hypnotic benzo's. The long acting, low potency hypnotic benzo Flurazepam(Dalmadorm) is the least toxic of the hypnotic benzo's, and the moderately acting moderate to high potency hypnotic benzo's such as Nitrazepam(Mogadon), Temazepam(Normison), Flunitrazepam(Rohypnol) and Lormetazepam (Loramet/Noctamid) are pretty much the most toxic of all Benzo's, and are the most often the cause of fatal overdoses, even when taken on their own. Probably the most toxic of them all are the short acting Benzo's, such as Brotizolam(Lendormin), Triazolam(Halcion) and Midazolam(Dormicum).

Yes, you can take whatever you want. Now, SHOULD you take them together is the question you want the answer to. I am no doctor, but have been on xanax for over 10 years now. During this period I have had to take musle relaxers three times. Twice it was skalaxin and once it was flexeril (of the two, I found flexeril a little more effective). The only danger is that they are both CNS depressents, but as long as you don't take too many of either then they most certainly can be taken together.

Drug companies put expiration dates on drugs to keep you getting more. If you knew aspirin was good for 10 years, they would not make money off you again for 10 years.

Personally, I received a bottle of 30 pills in 2006. I have had 1 refill in 2007 since then of an additional 30 pills. 15 are left and they still have a strong effect on me when I have trouble from overexerting myself. That's 4 years later and they still work as well as the 1st day.

I use them sparingly because:

1. Drugs lose their effect on a body if used too often.

2. Side effects vary but can be avoided all together with the next point.

3. 1. I dislike medication when exercise and diet can ease pain for longer periods of time. Strengthing my core muscles and losing weight helped me more than the drugs did. My first doctor just prescribed me pills after a quick visit and x-ray of my back. A year later, I got a 2nd opinion (and 2nd refill) with another doctor and he advised a change in diet and additional exercise focused on strengthing my core. Since I see the 2nd doctor, I rarely need to take one, maybe a 2nd the 2nd day and only when I really push myself. Losing weight was the real problem.

I recommend finding a long term solution if you can. It is well worth it.

Valium is a prescription drug. If you are in possession of it without a prescription, then yes, it would be illegal. If you have a doctor's prescription for it, then no, it is not.

no it is not robaxin is similar to flexeril but is meant more for daytime use as flexeril is for night time before bed.but other than that the two drugs are classified in the same...muscle skelatal relaxants

No, some have shorter half lives in regards to how long they stay in the system; also some will have quicker effects, some slower effects. You can feel effects longer with some, while others you feel a short time , then gone. It takes longer to detox from some benzos than others...however all extremely dangerous withdrawal without dr. supervision

I recently injured my lower back and was told by my doctor to take 600 mg of ibuprofen three times a day along with a prescribed 10 mg of cyclobenzaprine. After 4 days of following this routine, my friends invited me to go out for a drink one night. Fearing that drinking alcohol and taking the amount of medication prescribed might cause adverse effects, I called up my pharmacist and ask him if it was possible to have alcohol while taking my meds.

I told him that that morning I had taken 600 mg of ibuprofen and asked whether it was ok to take 10 mg of cyclobenzaprine. He laughed and told me that one night of drinking alcohol was not going to effect me. He also told me that I might get plastered much quicker than I normally would, but it wouldn't hurt me. Basically, he explained that 10 mg of cyclobenzaprine would pretty much double the alcoholic effects of one beer on my system; therefore, he advised that I not over do it, and drink half of what I normally do. Other than that, he said it would be fine and it wouldn't kill me (which I was afraid it might do; I'm a semi-phobic about taking any drugs what so ever).

Just know your limit and try not to binge drink. This drug follows the "too much of a good thing, is a bad thing" rule.
