one can do anything on New Years day or eve. on the eve, or Hogmany as it is know in Scotland, many people stay at home and gather their family around them, or have some friends round. some may go to parties at others houses or go to their significants others house. they can play games or computer games or talk or watch the festivies on the televison. on new years day nothing really happens, most people sleep off the previous night! There are things on the TV to watch though. So in answer to your question one can do anything they want on New Years and seeing as their is no traditional way to do it their is no alternative, it is just anything you feel like.
