How is Noah story viewed in the Bible compared to Quran?

Answer AMany ancient religions tell of a worldwide flood, mostly because they were centered on uncontrolled river valleys and the natural tendency for people to exaggerate over time..

The Chaldean Flood Tablets from the city of Ur in what is now Southern Iraq, describe how the Bablylonian God Ea had decided to eliminate humans and other land animals with a great flood which was to become "the end of all flesh". He selected Ut-Napishtim, to build an ark to save a few humans, and samples of other animals. Ut-Napishtim is turned into NOAH in the Bible.

The Babylonian text "The Epic of Galgamesh" and the Hebrew story are essentially identical with about 20 major points in common. The Bible has actually two versions of the Noah story in the E and J documents that are interleaved.

The Koran's version is an obvious bad copy of the Bible/s

The Koran calls him Nuh. The Bible says Noah's three sons escaped with him; the Koran tells of a son who sought refuge on a mountaintop and died. The Bible says the Ark landed on Mt. Ararat; the Koran says it landed on a different mountain of the same mountain range.

Answer B (Comment on the Answer A above) I wonder that some consider the Quran a copy of the Bible but when the Bible differs from the Quran they consider that the Quran is bad copy from the Bible. For the answer above, if there is difference between the Bible and Quran, how could you claim that the Bible story if the correct one and that of Quran is not. How do you say that Quran is a copy of the Bible while there are lot of differences? Could you deny that the Quran included many faith and historical issues that not touched in the Bible? refer to the question below for more information. Answer C (Comment on Answer B above)If the Koran was authoritative as you claim, please try to recreate the chronology of the bible using the Koran alone. What we do find are obvious anachronisms and mis understandings like having Haman be a minister of "Pharaoh" who builds a tower to "look down on Moses' God". Answer D (Hint on Answer C above):
  • Quran is not a text book whose chapters are written down by different writers in a historical approach. Quran is not a book of history that states events in a historical and chronological order. It is a book of worship. All Quran God words about historical events and issues are from the perspective of getting advice and guidance not for history education.
  • I wonder that you believe the story in a claimed holy book text that a prophet wrestled God and overcome God and didn't let God free until he got a promise from for something. While you don't believe a pharaoh, who his people believed he is god, saying to his minister to build for him something high (like the pyramids at that time) such that he may see God of Moses.
  • You deny Quran that confirmed the spherical shape of earth in the seventh century while church killing a scientist because he said that the earth is spherical. Kindly read what the Westerners said about Quran scientific miracles to know something about Quran authenticity.
  • Read about Quran to know how Muslims were sad because the Christians of Rome were defeated and Quran promised Muslims that the Romans will win in less than ten years and it was. Read the Quran to see how much respect is given to the virgin Mary (Mariam) and not given to any of Prophet Muhammad family members. Do you know that only woman that was mentioned by name in Quran was the virgin Mary and then one claims that Quran is a bad copy of the Bible..

Where in the bible is Noah's ark rested?

"The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat." (Genesis 8:3-4)

What happened when the ark landed?

As recorded in the Bible (Gen 8:4), the ark landed on Mount Ararat.

Mount Ararat is in the eastern Turkey, adjacent to the Armenian border.

Mount Ararat is the highest mountain in the area 5,156 m above sea level, and about 4,000 m higher than neighboring peaks.

According to Genesis 8:4 the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat on the 17th day of the 7th month. Rather confusingly, in Genesis 8:5 it says the tops of the mountains only started to appear after 10 months. Ignoring that, the question becomes where are the "mountains of Ararat"? Abrahamic tradition says this is Mount Ararat in Turkey. Josephus, the Jewish historian, places the Ark on an Armenian mountain - which doesn't exclude Mount Ararat. The ancient Jewish Book of Jubilees specifies mount Lubar in the mountains of Ararat.

Ararat may actually mean Urartu or Aratta - both ancient states Armenia.

Mount Ararat is the "traditional" place, but the reference in Genesis could be interpreted to be any of a number of mountain ranges in Urartu.

The Qur'an also has the Noah's Ark story, but places the Ark on Al-Judi.

There have been numerous expeditions to try and find remains of the Ark over the years; these have mainly been to Mount Ararat, but nearby Mount Judi and a site in Iran has also been visited. What's notable about these expeditions is that they all claim to have found the Ark.

There are some 8,250 reptiles, 10,000 birds, and 5,400 mammals.

Species which survive in water were not taken on the ark.

Is Noah's Ark and the Flood an example of a myth?

The dictionary describes a parable as a narrative of imagined events used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. However, it is also generally assumed to be actually identified as imaginary, as when Jesus told parables. A myth is a legend or imaginary tradition that contains references to a deity or the supernatural.

The story of Noah's Ark is not actually identified in the text as imaginary, so is not a parable. It is a myth.

Who are the fundamentalists?

If you take the term literally,it refers to Christians who take the Bible for what it says without any fancy theories or' higher criticism' changing the original and most obvious meaning. There is no one religion that receives the tag ( although very often Baptists do ).Often, groups within a denomination can be termed 'fundamental' whereas others in the same one will not.

How did Noah of The Bible dress?

The Bible contains no indication whatsoever, either before or after the flood of what Noah's personal appearance was. This is so because it focuses on his actions and on the judgment of the flood rather than personal appearances.

How many living things were on Noahs ark including him?

Genises 7:14, God spake unto Noah; "Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of the beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female." This indicates 2 of each animal that were forbidden to eat and 14 of each animal that were edible.

Why was Noah called a prophet?

God spoke to him (Genesis ch.6). Nonetheless, he is not listed as one of the forty-eight prophets (Talmud, Megillah14a, commentaries), since he himself is not recorded as having spoke for posterity.

Did the animals go on 2 by 2 on noahs ark?

A:The story of Noah is purely mythical, and Noah was not a real person. But even if he had been, he could not have taken dinosaurs onto the Ark. Dinosaurs died out around 65 million years ago, long before humans even existed. Besides which, there were thousands of different types of dinosaurs, some terrifyingly large, some exquisitely small, so why would you save just two dinosaurs?

Additional Comment:

According to Jesus, the very real Noah lived and obeyed God. He took the animals God sent to him into the Ark. No dinosaurs, as usually thought of as, were present at this age of man on Earth:

Luke 17:26New King James Version (NKJV)

26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

Why does God give specific dimensions to build Noah's ark?

Probably because Noah had to fit 2 of each of the animals in the ark, and if the ark was too big then it might have took too long to build, or maybe if it was too big it would become too heavy, or so; and not too small or else the animals would not fit. In my opinion, I think the dimensions were not big enough to fit 2 of every single animal ever created because I think dinosaurs became extinct because Noah did not take them on the Ark. But, of course, that is just my belief. The dimensions might have also been so specific because God wanted to test Noah if he would do as God told him.

What is the approximate time period of Noah?

A team of evangelical Christian explorers claim they've found the remains of Noah's ark beneath snow and volcanic debris on Turkey's Mount Ararat. Turkish and Chinese explorers from a group called Noah's Ark Ministries International made the latest discovery claim Monday in Hong Kong, where the group is based. The wood came to be 4,800 years approximated. This time is the same approximated time based on the Biblical stimates.

Where in the bible does it say that there were 8 people on the ark?

Noah's Ark is the vessel which, according to the Book of Genesis, was built by Noah at God's command to save himself, his family, and the world's animals from a worldwide deluge. The story of Noah and his family being spared from a world- wide deluge is one of the most important in the Old Testament. Biblical Passages: Gen. 6-8, contains the History of the ark.

* In Genesis chapt 7

Gen 7:13 On that same day Noah and his wife went into the boat with their three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives.

Also:The apostle Peter makes reference to the eight souls aboard the ark in 1 Peter 3:20.

What were the key events in noahs life?

AnswerAccording to the Bible, Lamech was the father of Noah. Noah did not become a father until he was 500 years old, had only three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, and lived to be exactly 950 years old. The biblical Flood came as Noah was 600, and he was chosen to build an ark and save mankind.

Whatever we accept as true about the life of Noah, his great age is least likely to be true. The lifespans of all the legendary heroes from Adam all the way down to Joshua were determined numerologically, using the number 17, and Noah's age is no exception. He lived to 950 years, which is derived from (13x9+49x17 [7x7x17]). This is almost the same formula as, for example, the lifespan of Enos, who lived to 905 years, derived from (8x9+49x17).

What languages were spoken by Adam and Eve?

While Adam and Eve are mentioned in the bible, it is perhaps best to think of them as the first man and woman.

We know that the first man and woman originated somewhere in Palestine well before the Greek, Roman or British Empires came into being.

Thus whatever language Adam and Eve spoke, it would be very unlikely to have been English, Greek or Latin. It is known what language Adam and Eve spoke from Anna Katharina Emmerick:

The first tongue, the mother tongue, spoken by Adam, Shem, and Noah, was different, and it is now extant only in isolated dialects. Its first pure offshoots are the Zend, the sacred tongue of India, and the language of the Bactrians. In those languages, words may be found exactly similar to the Low German of my native place. The book that I see in modern Ctesiphon, on the Tigris, is written in that language.

It is known that before Babel, all of the world spoke one unified protoindoeuropean language. Most languages had not yet been created in the time of Adam and Eve because this process did not start till the time of the Tower of Babel, and many of the languages we know today did not exist even at the time of the Tower of Babel because they developed later as people spread out on the earth. Though Adam and Eve's language is never mentioned in the bible, the first half of the scriptures are known as the Hebrew Testament. The language which their confused descendants spoke would most likely have been some form of Semitic tongue.

How many years passed from the creation of Adam and Eve until Noah's ark?

No one knows- there is no historical or archeological evidence that would make it clear. However it is known that the Black sea was formed by a major flood event when the Mediterranean sea burst through what is now the Bosphorus. An approximate date for this has been calculated as 5600 BC. This shattering event may well have been what formed the basis of the Flood story in Genesis.
