Why did the earth have to be placed off center?

It didn't have to be placed off centre, it just happens that it is that way. It is possible that when the planets of the solar system first coalesced out of the cosmic dust that Earth's rotation was closer to that of the plane of it's orbit but due to collisions between bodies that occured in the early solar system it's rotation was knocked off-centre.

How many stories is Noah in?

A:There are actually two stories of Noah's Ark in Genesis 6-8, written by two different authors and cleverly interleaved so that the result appears to be just one, rather complicated story. The Redactor who edited the final version of Genesis no doubt felt that he would face opposition if he removed either one of the stories, so skilfully interleaved them so that the proponents of either story would find familiar text, yet the existence of two stories is not apparent. So, for example, in Genesis 6:19-20, Noah is told to take two of every animal onto the Ark, clean or unclean, but in Genesis 7:1 he is told to take two of every unclean animal, but seven of every clean animal.

We do not know the names of the two different authors of the biblical stories of Noah, and they are now called the Priestly Source and the Yahwist:

  • The Flood verses attributed to the Priestly author are: Genesis 6:9-22, 7:6, 7:8-9, 7:11, 7:13-16a, 7:18-21, 7:24, 8:1-2a, 8:3b-5, 8:7, 8:13a, 8:14-19, 9:1-17.
  • The verses attributed to the Yahwist are: Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 7:7, 7:10, 7:12, 7:16b-17, 7:22-23, 8:2b-3a, 8:6, 8:8-12, 8:13b, 8:20-22.

The third story is in Quran; Muslims holy book:

Quran says (meaning English translation):(Quran 11:36-48)

{And it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing. (36) And construct the ship under Our observation and Our (Allah or God in English and same God in Christianity and Judaism) inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned." (37).And he (Noah) constructed the ship, and whenever an assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule. (38) And you are going to know who will get a punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom will descend an enduring punishment [in the Hereafter]." (39) [So it was], until when Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, "Load upon the ship of each [creature] two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed." But none had believed with him, except a few. (40) And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." (41) And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers." (42) [But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned. (43) And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people." (44) And Noah called to his Lord and said, "My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true; and You are the most just of judges!" (45)He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous, so ask Me not for that about which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant." (46) [Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers." (47) It was said, "O Noah, disembark in security from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations [of them] We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment." (48)}

It is to be noticed that Quran verses concentrate on the information that could be of benefit and advice to the believers and don't discuss details that add no benefit to them.

Is there a blueprint with measurements of Noah's ark?

Genesis 6:15 provides some basic outside dimensions for the Ark. Beyond this, there is no evidence outside the Bible that Noah's Ark even existed. There is no blueprint for its construction.

How old was NOAH when the flood stop?

According to Genesis, 601. This is at least internally consistent with the flood occurring after the death of Methuselah, as if you add up the reported ages of Methuselah when his son Lamech was born and Lamech when his son Noah was born, you come up with Methuselah being about 369 when Noah was born. Methuselah reportedly died at 969, meaning Noah would have been about 600 at the time.

How is the time from Adam to Noah figured?

Since Adam and Noah did not exist outside the Bible, the only way to figure this is from the biblical evidence. The Bible gives fourteen generations from Adam to Noah and says how old each father was when his first son was born. By adding these ages together, we find that the biblical Noah was born 1056 years after Adam.

Answer: According to the poem by Shel Silverstein (made into a song popularized by The Rovers in the 1960's), the unicorn was too busy to board the ark.

The Unicorn Song excerpt:

And Noah looked out through the driving rain

Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games

Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling

Oh, them silly unicorns

Why do some people think Noah had dinosaurs on the Ark when scientists have proven they had all died out millions of years before humans were first around?

Some people feel that we can calculate the generations of humans back to Adam & Eve by examining the "begats", and that is around 6,000 years ago or so plus the "7 days" of creation. And they need to believe the literal word of the Bible, so instead of deciding that the idea of a week to create the world is more of an important story, they take it literally and instead of thinking that maybe a "Biblical" day could have been 100,000,000 years or more, they really seem to think it is a 24 hour day. Being so literal yet being confronted with the fact that there are dinosaur bones and evidence of life like that, they have to make the dinosaurs fit into their literal view. So since everything had to be created within the last 6,000 years or so (according to their literal view) and we have evidence of dinosaurs, they have decided that instead of dinosaurs preceding humans on earth, the dinosaurs must have lived during the earlier times when the first humans (Adam, Eve, Noah....) were around. I was watching a tv show recently about how the Appalachian Mountains are being destroyed, literally leveled to get at the coal instead of mining down to it, and how it's damaging the lives and land of people who live nearby. During the show, one of the workers said that as far as he could tell, God put the coal there 5,000 years ago and meant for us to find it. That's a lot of faith or a lot of assumptions. I'm not here to judge, just point out what seems to be the reasoning.

What biggest sea vessel can be compared with noah's ark?

As ship of the TItanic's size (which is smaller than most current oil tankers) would be the rough size of the Titanic. However, it should be noted that in order to build ships of that size, you need metal. A purely wooden boat, such as the Bible describes, would warp and not remain seaworthy for any sustained length of time.

Does Noah's Ark represent a foreshadowing of Mary?

Answer
Even if Noah's Ark really existed and there really was a Flood, it is hard to imagine a connection between the Ark and Mary, mother of Jesus. Nevertheless, in the words of Burton L. Mack ('Who Wrote the New Testament'), there is a trick that seems to come naturally when studying the Bible: one can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer. If the first answer does not appear to be helpful, one can make a few more assumptions and look for another answer to the same question, until the right answer appears. In this way, Noah's Ark can be made to foreshadow Mary or any other later person.

What does Mount Ararat have to do with the story of Noah's ark?

Mount Ararat is on the border between Armenia and Turkey. It often is thought of as the Ark's final resting place. But the Bible doesn't specify that mountain. It just says that the ark finished its journey on some unnamed mountain in the Ararat range [8:4].

I've never thought about that. I'm guessing that they had some form of shovels and threw anything that would make the ark unclean overboard.
