Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is a vessel describes in Genesis chapters 6-9 of the Hebrew Bible. In the story, God instructs a man named Noah to build an ark to providing a save-haven for Noah, his family, and all species of animals. Once Noah and his fellow travelers are aboard the ark, God enacts a massive flood, destroying all other living things on the planet. The inhabitants of the ark go on to repopulate the world after the great flood.

Why was Noah important in the plan of salvation?

The Bible, at Genesis 6:5, says that God saw that the wickedness of man was great. He brought on a flood to destroy man, but allowed Noah to live, because he was righteous. However, the bible goes on to describe great wickedness after the time of the Flood, including for example, the Tower of Babel and the story of Sodom and Gommorah. According to the Bible itself, it seems that nothing was achieved by the Flood. So in the biblical story, Noah and his family were only important in that they continued the human race.

Where have the remnants of Noah's Ark been found?

AnswerNoah's Ark has never been discovered. Even if it once existed, it is unlikely to have survived. A Christian apologist, looking for the Ark on Mount Ararat, claimed to have found it near the summit. However, others have since shown that this was simply a rock formation that, in the right light, vaguely resembles the bow of a ship.

Who were the people that went with Noah on the ark?

2 zebras, 2 lions, 2 alligators, 2 cats, etc.

Answer:

In the Biblical Noah myth the ark is supplied with two (2) of each kind of unclean animal and seven (7) pairs of every kind of clean animal and seven (7) pairs of every kind of birfand an unnumbered group of Noah's close relatives.

Genesis 7:2-3

New International Version (NIV)2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,

3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

Did God destroy earth after Noah's ark?

According to the Bible, the planet earth was not destroyed. The scripture at 2 Peter 3:5-7 tells us "the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished."(ESV) That is, the 'world' of wicked people, perished. (Genesis 6:5-8). Genesis 6:12+17 tells us " ...So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth...And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. "(NIV)

There was nothing wrong with the literal 'earth', the soil, rocks, air.... but with the violence on it, promoted by wicked people(Genesis 6:11). Though alot of the animal life died as a consequence, it was primarily the wicked people, and their unrighteous ways, that were destroyed during the flood of Noahs' day. Matthew 24:37-39 tells us that the same kind of destruction will take place in OUR day, as back in Noah's day....the destruction of 'the wicked people'. The planet earth was given to mankind as a gift(Psalms 115:16) and will last forever(Psalm 104:5/Isaiah 45:18).

How many clean animals were taken into the Ark?

AnswerIn Genesis 6:19-20, Noah is told to take two of every animal onto the Ark, clean or unclean, but in Genesis 7:1 he is told to take two of every unclean animal, but seven of every clean animal. The reason for this surprising find is that there are actually two stories of Noah's Ark in the Bible, written by two different authors and cleverly interleaved so that the result appears to be just one, rather complicated story. In the same way as there are two answers to this question, we can also find that one story has the flood subsiding in just forty days, while the other says that it lasted one year.

We do not know the names of the two different authors of the biblical stories of Noah, and they are now called the Priestly Source and the Yahwist:

  • The Flood verses attributed to the Priestly author are: Genesis 6:9-22, 7:6, 7:8-9, 7:11, 7:13-16a, 7:18-21, 7:24, 8:1-2a, 8:3b-5, 8:7, 8:13a, 8:14-19, 9:1-17.
  • The verses attributed to the Yahwist are: Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 7:7, 7:10, 7:12, 7:16b-17, 7:22-23, 8:2b-3a, 8:6, 8:8-12, 8:13b, 8:20-22.

How long did it take for Noah to build the ark and where did he get the trees to make lumber in the desert and why did the locals allowed him to hoard all the trees?

Answer

The best source of information about Noah and antediluvian times comes from the Bible, since most secular sources discount the possibility of a global flood.

Genesis 5 ends with Noah being around 500 years old when he had his 3 sons. Genesis 6 introduces the issue of evil among man, including the crossing of human with the "Sons of God," usually agreed to refer to spiritual beings, presumably demons since the results were evil. Genesis 7 brings the flood; at that time, Noah is said to be 600 years old. Therefore the building of the ark took less than 100 years. (Some place the total time at around 120 years, based on an interpretation of Genesis 6:1. This verse could also mean that this was the expected average lifespan of mankind after the flood.)

We don't know enough about the area in which Noah lived to know whether it was a desert or not. The Ark's landing on Mount Ararat doesn't imply its starting point, especially if the floodwaters literally covered the entire world. Obviously there were trees there, enough for Noah to complete his work. (Note that scientists who accept the idea of a global flood "of Biblical proportions" agree that the antediluvian environment was quite different from that of today.)

As for the locals allowing this, we have very little record of Noah's interaction with the locals, except that Noah was apparently an upstanding citizen.

Through it all, though, it seems quite obvious that, as with everything else, God supplied Noah's needs in terms of supplies and support in ways we may not be able to understand. so 17 years

How big is Noah' s ark?

The ark (Hebrew: tevah; Greek: kibotos) was a rectangular chestlike vessel (approximately: 438 ft × 73 ft 11 in. × 44 ft.). This gave the ark about 1,400,000 cubic feet in gross volume. (Genesis 6:14-16)

Why does God send the great Flood?

because some one either is not behaving or becuz he wanna

A Christian Opinion:In Genesis 6:5-6 it says " And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart." This all has to do with pre-flood wickedness. The sons of God (v.2) are thought to have been either fallen angels. to which there may be reference in 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6, or leaders in Sethite families who intermarried with godless descendants of Cain. These abnormal marriages, whatever they were, filled the earth with corruptions and violence.

How many days did Noah finish the ark?

Noah was in the ark for 375 days, until the LORD told him to go out:

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. ( Genesis 7.11)

13) And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. 14) And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. (Genesis 8)

What is a summary of the story of Noah?

The story of Noah is one of a family of ancient Near Eastern myths about the divine destruction of humanity, in which only one family is chosen to survive and repopulate the earth. God told Noah that he would bring a great flood to destroy all of humanity because of its sinfulness, and instructed him to build a great boat or Ark in which he and is family were to be saved. Noah took some of every living creature onto the Ark and then God made it rain for forty days. After the resulting Flood subsided and the Ark rested on Mount Ararat, Noah left the Ark and made a sacrifice to the Lord.

There are two, somewhat different stories of Noah's Flood in the Bible, that differ in details such as how many of each species were taken onto the Ark and how long the Flood lasted. The first story, attributed to the Priestly author, is Genesis 6:9-22, 7:6, 7:8-9, 7:11, 7:13-16a, 7:18-21, 7:24, 8:1-2a, 8:3b-5, 8:7, 8:13a, 8:14-19, 9:1-17. The second, attributed to the Yahwist, is in Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 7:7, 7:10, 7:12, 7:16b-17, 7:22-23, 8:2b-3a, 8:6, 8:8-12, 8:13b, 8:20-22.

Why did God kill everybody in the story of Noah's Ark?

God did not kill everyone. I believe your question is "why does everyone have to die?" The answer is found in Genesis and throughout the bible. Adam and Eve were given the opportunity to live in the Garden of Eden, free from pain, sorrow and even death. They were given the instruction to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve was deceived by the serpent and ate and then Adam ate. They were cast out of the garden into the world we now know, full of sorrow, pain, sickness and death. The bible says that "all have sinned (broken God's law) and fallen short of the glory of God." Also it says that "the wages of sin is death." Further it says "it is appointed for a man once to die and then the judgment." This is why everyone must die. Because of sin.

I cannot say all of this though without finishing the story. God, through His mercy and grace, sent His Son, Jesus the Christ, to pay for the sins of men (Jesus' coming was predicted exactly in the old testament prophesies). So that anyone who accepts Jesus as the payment for their sins and asks Him to be the Lord of their life will not have to die for good. They must die in this life because of the sin but they will rise again and live in His kingdom forever. In this kingdom, things will be restored to how they were meant to be (and better). There will be no sorrow, nor pain, nor death. Only happiness and peace. No worrying about money or corrupt governments or paying your bills or global turmoil. The bible says that God himself will wipe away all tears.

I hope this helps answer the question. This is a very brief answer and theologians have written volumes on this topic. I hope all who read this will explore further through the Holy Bible. Blessings to you.

What was the age of noah when he came out of the ark?

Just take a look at Genesis 6-9 to find that out. It actually gives his age very specifically. The Bible tells us he was 600 years old when he entered the ark. They lived way longer back before the flood!

Did abel get on the ark?

The time of Abraham was 2091 or 1850 B.C. from two different sources so approximately 2000 B.C. The time of the flood and Noah is from a much earlier time. Scholars and archaeologists cannot prove or disprove exactly when, where, or if the flood occurred. Most Biblical scholars leave the date for the flood as "undated".

Additional Answer:

The worldwide flood is sometimes dated as follows:

Start: 2nd Month, 17th Day, 2327 BC

Dries: 2nd Month, 27th Day, 2326 BC

Abram or Abraham is calculated to have lived as follows:

Birth: 1975 BC

Dies :1800 BC

The Flood is approximately 350yrs. before Abram.

Who wrote Noah's ark?

How much did Noah's ark weigh?

The Bible says that the Ark was 2 1/2 cubits long, 1 1/2 cubits wide and 1 1/2 cubits high, and made from shittim wood, heavily overlaid with gold, with silver adornments. The mercy seat was said to have been 2 1/2 cubits long and 1 1/2 cubits wide, and made of pure gold, as were the two cherubim that surrounded it. Since gold is roughly twice as heavy as lead, the structure would have weighed several tonnes.

Jewish answer:

There are problems with the above answer:

1) The thickness of the wood is not specified in the Torah.

2) The thickness of the gold overlay is not specified.

3) There were no silver adornments.

4) The size of the cherubim and the thickness of the Ark's gold cover are not specified.

5) The cherubim might have been hollow.

6) Gold is not nearly twice the weight of lead. Its density is 1.7 times that of lead.
