How much math is used by a registered nurse on a daily basis?

Doctors use math, just like they use a language. They must know a person's age, height, and weight to prescribe a drug. This can help the patient take the correct amount of dosage. So most commonly doctors use math to determine appropriate dosage of medications, because drugs are effective at certain levels, depending on weight. They need to know percentage really well, just to determine how much of something to give, administer, to some one who is 130 pounds versus someone who is 300 pounds. Blood type is needed to know, and the compositions of the blood is needed to know, because if you are low on blood there is a certain amount of blood a person body requires depending on their age and weight.
Yes. They use it in lots of ways, like weighing patients, working out how much medication to prescribe, counting the various things like blood pressure and comparing them against healthy levels. They work out their bills, as many are running their own business.

Can a medicaid patient living in a nursing home be charged a bed hold fee at the nursing home during a hospital stay?

No They Can't. The only way that they can be charged is if they are stupid enough to believe something like this. Alot of people will just pay it anyway because they don't want to cause an argument or be embaressed by causing a fuss about it. --I work in a nursing home & do the billing. The bed hold fee can be charged to the resident/family. The fee is there is ensure that the bed is still there...in other words, that residents items/clothes etc, are not moved from their room. Normally, if the bed hold is not paid, or the family does not want it, the items in that room will be packed up in a certain # of days and ready for the family to come and get. Each nursing home will or should hv some type of policy about this. (R) I work in a nursing home as well. Medicaid will cover a bed hold for up to 14 days per year. Anything over 14 days will be private pay and will be billed to the resident or the POA whichever is appropriate.

If you are a nurse how will tax compute?

== == The work performed really makes no difference in how tax is calculated..essentially, (while no tow people pay the same because of the below), the tax of 2 people with the same income from any earned income source is the same.

the tax paid depends on many, many things...not the least of which is what you consider tax. Many people group all their withholdings as a type of tax, but many may not be. Workers Comp, Unemployment, even FICA are all really more an insurance payment than a withholding against an income tax. The amount of tax withheld or eventually paid also depends on many other things...obviously which state (or even city) your in, the amount of income your projected on earning over the year, (which helps determine your tax bracket and the percent that may be needed), as well as your filing status, number of dependents and other deductions. All these things can be adjusted for your circumstances by properly and completely filling out (or changing) the Form W-4 all employers ask you to. Finally, there are a number of different legal ways for the payroll provider to calculate certain aspects of the amount to withhold...but overall they make only a small difference. Remember, anything withheld is just being done as an estimated installment payment toward whatever tax, if any, you do ultimately owe. If too much is withheld, it is refunded. (Too little, and you could pay a penalty). Again, adjusting your W-4 is the way to correct for any of these circumstances.
