the same thing just happened to me, and I was really upset but I called organon, they said its perfectly normal, especially if i started using nuvaring recently.

i still havent got a straight answer from anyone so i'm just take extra protection but i have gotten really bad stomach cramps.

Probably not. I would just skip the ring free week and put another ring in the same day you take it out, in order to remain on schedule. or call the nuvaring company or your doctor to see what they say.

The ring is effective for 4 weeks if you wear it for 3, so if you wear it for 4 I doubt it makes a difference.

You should be fine, sometimes if you take it out a little later in the day then usual it takes longer for it start. If it has been more the 4 or 5 days I would start to get worried.

I personally had some problems myself removing it, so the first time, my doctor removed it. But I think you should be able to manage if you just are patient and calm. It is in there, so you should be able to find it with your finger and pull it out. once you actually find it, the pulling is no problem.

One trick to help: squat down and "bear down" to change the placement of your cervix. While squatting, reach up with a finger to hook the ring.

It's fine to start the next ring early, and fine to leave the old ring in for 24 days. Doing so does not increase the risk of pregnancy. You may have unpredictable bleeding when trying to skip your period by skipping the ring-free interval.

No, you can't insert NuvaRing too far. The vagina ends in a "dead end" -- it's even called the "cul de sac." NuvaRing can't "get lost" in the vagina.

I don't really understand since when you have not stopped bleeding, but obviously you have been bleeding for longer than 10 days, or you would not ask. Such problems are mostly complex hormonal issues, which I can't identify. But a doctor can, and lucky for you, the solutions are really easy. So just visit your doctor and ask for him to check your hormones.

It works no matter where it is placed in the vagina. You can choose based on comfort and stability (how well it stays in place). For most women the most comfortable location is as far into the vagina as you can reach.

I can't give you an official answer, but from personal experience yes. I suffered from intense burning sensations while on the nuva ring especially after intercourse. I also looked into the issue, and have found that many women suffer from this as well. It isn't however listed as an official side effect. The best advice I can give you is to stop using it and switch to a new form on birth control, if you still are suffering from the burning sensation you should probably seek medical help. Some STD's can also cause vaginal irritation, and it is wise to also check for these.

My girlfriend uses the nuvaring and is also an OB nurse. As long as the ring is in place it continues to release hormones in your body which prevent you from getting pregnant. It won't just stop releasing these hormones after the 21 day cycle. I'm not sure exactly how long it would take for all the hormones to be released but 2 days is certainly not a long enough time.

Hi, You can start taking birth control whenever you wish but you must never miss a dose as this will increase your chances of pregnancy. If you want your period to arrive on the same date then take your birth control on the 1st day of your period. You must continue to take birth control everyday and not miss a pill. If you miss a pill or several pills then you're at risk of pregnancy and you must always use a condom for 2 weeks when you miss one or more pills. Birth control does not reach its full effectiveness until you've been taking it for one month and you've received your 1st period while on birth control.

There is no risk from inserting the next NuvaRing early. You may actually lower the risk of pregnancy.

While some women feel some vaginal or urethral irritation if the Nuva Ring presses against the front of the vagina, taking out the Nuva Ring would not be expected to cause painful urination.

Like any hormonal birth control method, Nuva Ring is likely to cause lighter flow and shorter periods than you had before you started on it. In the first three months, you may have irregular spotting or bleeding. It's less common on Nuva Ring than on the pill, but it can occur. After the three month "breaking in" period, you should see more regular periods and lighter flow.
