OSHA does not manage safety and health in the workplace. OSHA issues regulations, performs inspections, etc., to encourage employers to manage safety and health in their workplaces.

The employer is responsible for providing a workplace that is safe and free from recognized hazards.

It is only an OSHA Recordable if it hurts further at work because of work activity and it requires medical attention beyond first aid or it meets the definition of an occupational illness. The criteria are complex. You should consult a specialist in this area.

OSHA can only enforce the employee employer relationship. If the roofers are working for a contractor the citation would go to their employer. If they are contracting without a license working directly for the homeowner then you would be subject to local building and contracting standards (contracting without a license, construction without a permit and as well as local, state and federal employment standards.) While OSHA may not have jurisdiction on your property your problems could be much worse. If the roofers get hurt you are going to be liable for their injury. You will have no warranty of workmanship. In most cities the building department can shut down your job and in an extreme case deem the residence uninhabitable making you leave it until the proper permits and work (by a licensed contractor) are completed and fines are paid.

No- the OSH Act requires you to have a safety program. If your program calls for reviewing JSAs annually, then you should follow your program. However- it is a very good idea to do so- jobs change.

If benadryl is ordered by a doctor, nurse, or other treating healthcare professional in prescription quantities, and if the other circumstances of the injury meet the OSHA definition, then the injury is OSHA recordable.

In the US, doses greater than 50 mg require a prescription.

U.S. OSHA standards for paper mill operations are in 29 CFR 1910, the General Industry Standards.

The law (OSH Act) applies to employers and their employees. The exception is asbestos, where it also regulates property owners. It will not apply to you working on your own property.

You pay for OSHA through your taxes in order to ensure, as much as possible, that unscrupulous employers do not take advantage of people needing employment and have them doing their work in unnecessarily hazardous situations.

If the bite requires medical treatment beyond First Aid, and if the employee was bitten while in the parking lot for a work-related purpose other than going home or going to work, the bit may be OSHA recordable. Most insect bites are not.

Becoming unconscious is one of the criteria for OSHA recordability, so yes, in most cases, and all other criteria for recordability being met, this would be a recordable event.

If the accident occurred while driving from home to a permanent job site such as a factory, it is not recordable.

If it occurred while driving from one job site to another (of the same employer) it is likely recordable.

If the accident happened while driving from home to a temporary job site like a construction site, and the employee does not have a permanent location to which he normally reports, it may be recordable. See the specific OSHA guidance.

Al the above presumes the circumstances comply with all the other criteria for recordability.

If it is a prescription (per OSHA regs) then yes...it is recordable.

OSHA does not approve standards, although it may incorporate some by reference.

OSHA has not established color code requirements for natural gas lines.

If the other criteria for being an OSHA recordable event are met (work-relatedness, etc.) then receiving IV-fluids would make the event recordable because that is medical treatment beyond first aid.

A means of calculating workplace injuries and illnesses statistics, DART is an acronym for Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred. It makes reference to missed days from work, days where activities are restricted by an injury, or where a worker is transfered to another type of work due to injury.

The DART is calculated to meet OSHA statistical collection requirements.

CLIA regulations apply to laboratories and fall under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

OSHA develops standards based on its own initiative or in response to other government agencies or nationally recognized organizations.

First they issue a request for information or an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR), then a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPR). At several points they will hold public hearings and have Public Comment Periods when any member of the public can comment on a proposed rule. Then they decide whether or not to issue a new or revised rule (standard) and publish a notice in the Federal Register announcing the decision, responding to public comments, giving the full text of the rule and listing dates by which parts or all of the rule will come into force after the publication date.
