Does the presence of marine fossils on mountain tops confirm that Noah's Deluge really happened?

No. Marine fossils are formed when marine creatures die and their bodies fall to the bottom of the sea, where they become covered in silt which eventually hardens into rock. If there ever was a great flood that could cover high mountains, any marine creatures that died would still fall to the bottom of the sea - not up to a mountain top. Nor would they form a scientifically correct geologically column on the mountain, with older species at the bottom of the column and more modern species at the top of the column.

The presence of marine fossils on a mountain top merely shows that the mountain is of recent origin, having been uplifted by geological forces perhaps only a few million years ago. Prior to the uplift, the mountain formed part of the sea bed.

Further, such a flood would not create fossils. Fossils most often form at the bottom of bodies of water were there is little oxygen and where they are repeatedly silted over and protected from mechanical damage. If a flood reached into the mountains, it certainly would not leave deep sediments there, so any marine creatures left behind would be eaten and scattered to the winds. And such fossils are found in SEDIMENTARY rock, usually formed when layers of silt are laid down again and again over many years until they are crushed into rock by the pressure. A biblical flood could not create such rock. At best, it might leave a few pools of mud that might hold a few skeletons--but again, these would not become entombed in sandstone, nor fossilized.

What do you call someone who doesn't believe in anything at all not God karma evolution big bang theory etc nothing at all?

I'm not sure about disbelief in everything, but someone who doesn't believe in god/gods/or other all mighty powers is called an atheist. Agnosticism is the view that there is no way we can know the validity of the mentioned subjects of belief (to varying degrees), it is not the disbelief of them.

i will do further research into the subject and add to my answer any relevant information i find.

Supplementary answer

I agree that an atheist does not believe in any God. But the question also mentions karma, evolution, Big Bang. Not to believe in any of those things makes you an agnostic.

Someone who does not believe in anything at all is a skeptic. An agnostic is someone who is not sure whether god exists or not.

Answer to above^^^^

Not an Agnostic a Nihilist

Do Christians Believe the Big Bang Theory?

The assertion that on one hand we have science and the other hand we have the belief in Genesis, as if the two are incompatible is a total fallacy. Genesis belief is not anti-scientific, nor does it reject genuine scientific inquiry. It merely starts from a different paradigm and so gets different results.

So, in returning to the question, many Christians also do not believe in the Big Bang, along with a growing number of non or even anti- Christian evolutionary scientists.

Many Christians having been educated that the Big Bang is fact have never seen the scientific evidence which is accumulating against it. Nor have they ever seen any Creationist physics. They thus accept the Big Bang because they believe they have no other choice as not to except it makes them look sub-human or anti-intellectual. Well Christ preached about having and open mind and seeking out the truth. So, if someone claimed to be a Christian that didn't believe in the Big Bang, the would be a hypocrite (hypocrisy of course being sinful). Too many Christians get worked up by the debate of young earth creationist Vs. Old earth creationism that they forgot what is the most important thing about our Christian faith. Which is the gospel of Jesus is the Christ, and that he is our Lord and savior. In other words, they build their faith on their belief that the earth is 6000 years old or billions of years old, instead of building their faith on Jesus Christ.

But if you must know if Christian believe the Big Bang theory, then the answer is that a lot of Christians think the Big Bang theory is a valid, scientifically proven model that has a lot of Christian implications, because the model predicts that the universe had a beginning.

As for Christians saying that the Big Bang theory is based on Naturalist philosophy, they are wrong! The Big Bang theory actually has a Catholic/Christian root because it was proposed by a catholic priest Monsignor Georges Lemaitre. In the past, many atheist scientists have been trying to prove that the Big Bang is wrong because they don't like the implication that the theory predicts the universe had a beginning (therefore, pointing towards a supernatural creator who started the big bang).

Is it possible to recreate dinosaurs?

That is the question from "Jurassic Park". It is hard to make a living form from DNA but possible. Fortunately nobody ever found Dinosaur DNA and it is scientifically proven that if they found dinosaur DNA it would be to ruined and expired, over the time, to use. The conclusion of these facts is thaot it will ( Thank God ) never be possible to recreate a Dinosaur.

Why was Canaan during the time of Noah cursed?

the name Canaan is synonymous to Tagalog word " Kanaan" (commiting sins without boundary) .The story was about the wrong intention of Cham(son of noah) he looked the naked body of his father noah and commited sin (maybe homosexual orientation) .Noah knew what his son cham did so he cursed canaan (the offspring of Cham) because he knew what kind of people are the sons of Canaan.

Did Methuselah die in the flood?

Tradition states that Methusaleh died seven days before the Flood (Rashi commentary, Genesis 7:4).

Did Methuselah Die During the Global Flood? by Brad Harrub, Ph.D.

In Genesis chapter 5, Moses recorded the genealogy of Adam. The name that commonly stands out in that list is Methuselah. Methuselah is the oldest person recorded in Scripture, and his name is often used today when referring to something or someone very old. In verse 21 of that chapter, we learn that Methuselah was the son of Enoch. We are then informed: Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech. After he begot Lamech, Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died. Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years and had a son (vss. 25-28). Lamech's son was Noah. The Bible records in Genesis 7:6 that Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters were on the Earth. In light of this information, we can take the age of Methuselah when Lamech was born (187), add to that Lamech's age when he begot Noah (182) and the age of Noah when the floodwaters came (600), and determine that Methuselah was 969 years old the year the Flood occurred [187+182+600=969]. Since Genesis 5:27 indicates this was the age at which Methuselah died, it is logical to conclude that he died the year of the Flood. However, the Bible does not indicate that he died as a result of the Flood. [Remember, his father was Enoch, one of a select few who walked with God and was taken directly by God, not experiencing death. Thus, Methuselah's father was a very righteous man, who undoubtedly set a proper example for his son.] While the exact meaning of Methuselah's name is unknown, many scholars have suggested that it means: "When he dies, it shall be sent," implying that the Flood would result when Methuselah died (Morris, 1976, p. 160). But, here again, we cannot be certain and should not be dogmatic.

What were the two main themes that Mendeleyev developed while writing his text book The Principles of Chemistry?

Dmitri Mendeleev developed two main themes in his textbook "The Principles of Chemistry": the concept of periodicity, which led to the creation of the periodic table of elements; and the idea that the properties of elements are dependent on their atomic weights, leading to the organization of elements into groups and periods based on their atomic mass and properties.

When do Christians believe the earth began?

Many Christians believe the earth was created somewhere between 20,000 and 12,000 years ago. No one knows for sure, because none of us was there.

Answer:

Young Earth theory states the Earth is about 6,000 years old. If you add the genealogies of the Bible up, it also come to about 6,000 years.

Personally how old the Earth is would be impossible to determine, everything is a theory. I was not there.

Does the Mosaic law still apply?

Many followers of Judaism still follow the Mosaic law, where it can be applied either directly or in principle to today. An example is in relation to sabbath keeping and the prohibition against work. Lifts are provided and set so that they stop on every floor of a building to alleviate the necessity for a person to perform the work of pressing the button. In certain situations a 'sabbath days journey' is specifically defined by markers to avoid the breaking of this precept.

Christians have clearly been set free from following the provisions of the Mosaic law as Jesus' finished work on the cross fulfilled the law and superseded it. This was symbolized by the tearing of the thick curtain in the temple. Numerous New Testament scriptures demonstrate this.

For the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1 v 17

Now we know that what things soever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped , and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no person be justified in his sight for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3 v 19-20

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Galatians 3 v 24

Knowing this that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.Galatians2v16

The first council of the Christian church held at Jerusalem and presided over by James the brother of Jesus, specifically addressed this issue. Only a very few provisions were seen as being still relevant for non-Jews to follow. This discussion is recorded in Acts 15.

Jesus' statement in Matthew 5 v 17-18 means simply that he himself was to fulfill the law perfectly, which he certainly did. The law, being given by God himself is certainly inspired and its chief purpose was to point to Christ and to show people their need of a savior. The book of Hebrews discusses much of this at length. The book of James and any other verses cited to prove that a Christian is to obey the law of Moses or do works for salvation are simply taken out of context and/or misunderstood and misapplied. It is also incorrect to say that it is faith and works for salvation.

The moral aspects of the Mosaic Law are certainly fulfilled in Christians as they, empowered by the Holy Spirit of God naturally do God's will. Thus lawlessness is not at all a natural consequence of the abrogation of the Mosaic law. It is simply that the law of Moses does not apply today to Christians in regard to salvation or as a system of religious works. Any religious systems which are works-based are thus by definition not Christian.

Verses taken firstly out of context and wrongly interpreted do not prove that the Mosaic law still applies to Christians. As mentioned above, it most certainly does apply to those who follow it today, viz. those who follow the religion of Judaism. Nor is there any contradiction at all between Jesus' teaching and Paul. The following passage from Romans 1 v 1-4 make this clear: ' There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.'

Further to all this, the principles contained in the Mosaic Law most certainly form the basis of much of the legal framework in Western cultures which have had a substantial Christian influence. This also includes principles relating to compensation apart from the obvious such as murder (thou shalt not kill), theft (thou shalt not steal) etc.

In this much broader sense where the Mosaic legal principles demonstrate God's knowledge of what is best for society generally it has an abiding usefulness but this is not of course in any religious sense, nor does it mean or imply any adherence to Christian or Biblical principles on the part of those who enjoy its benefits.

The teachings of Jesus Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Or; if you follow the teachings of Paul; Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. see related link; " Are the laws of the Old Testament still binding? " There is a danger in confusing "application of Mosaic Law" and right action. No one will argue that since Christ has come, the laws saying "Thou shalt not kill" and "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife" can be tossed out the window. If you claim to be saved by grace, then you are not and cannot be bound by Mosaic Law. Salvation by grace is a position, and adherence to Mosaic Law is a practice. You are not bound by law, but you are constrained to right action by the indwelling spirit.

Who was the first person on earth?

It depends who you ask:

According to the Old Testament, Adam was the first person on earth. Then Eve was created out of his rib.

If you'll ask scientists you'll probably get a different answer.

We probably will never know the answer to this question from a scientific point of view, since the emergence of "modern" human beings occurred at least 195,000 years ago in eastern Africa. This has been confirmed by both fossil discoveries and DNA studies on today's humans. This time is so far back into prehistory that it is highly unlikely that we will ever be able to identify the first person on any scientific basis.

Various cultural and religious mythologies convey "first man" and "first woman" stories, which are most likely allegorical rather than historical. However, belief in these stories is widespread, and they provide a basis for many people to identify with their cultural and religious origins.

Could Noah have taken 2-7 of each animal and today you would have a healthy thriving populations wouldn't they be inbred secondly what animals besides ones located in the general area were on the Ark?

First of all, Noah only took 2 of each animal, , one male and the other female, period. Secondly, there was a "no species left behind" rule instated, so all the species were present,

== Whether Noah took 2 animals (Genesis 7:8, 9, 15 Genesis 7:8, 9, 15 ) or 7 (Genesis 7:2), with only Noah, his 3 sons and daughters-in-law to feed and clean the Ark, the animals will not thrive healthy. With only one window (Genesis 6:16) for ventilation.

Quick reference Genesis 6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. 7:15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. Note on Genesis 7:2; Seven is not a pair. It will be 3 pairs and an odd number one. This contradicts 6:19 and 7:15 6:16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. note; The letter "A" in "A window" is singular, meaning only one window is to be built.. == == From the accounts in Genesis 6 - 9 many things are stated and many things more are omitted considering the massive size of this boat. Studies have shown that the whole thing was quite feasible in all the major areas.

In relation to minor details, it is important not to jump to unwarranted conclusions with little specific detail. For example, it is not stated directly that there was to be only one, one cubit square, window. This is only an assumption. Many details are omitted from the account such as the complete construction blueprint, the animals food, where they were housed inside etc. Nothing can be proved either way from this.

Many have also made assumptions about ancient technology and that therefore such a structure could not have existed. We do know from the measurements given that the design would have been stable i.e. hard to capsize. We also know that ancient peoples were highly intelligent and capable of engineering and mathematical feats. e.g. Pyramids, Mayan calculation of the synodical period of Mars, and Eratosthenes calculation of the circumference of the earth. See the Related Links for "How Did All The Animals Fit on Noah's Ark?" to the left for an answer. This discusses a number of supposed problems connected with Noah's Ark, and demonstrates possible solutions.

Is the Bible a book of propaganda?

The Bible is partly a collection of important religious works, but undoubtedly the Old Testament is partly a book of propaganda. It begins by justifying aggression on the part of the Israelites, and continues with legends of nation-building and stories that build national pride for the people of Judah. Although archaeologists say that there is no evidence that the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah were ever united as part of a United Monarchy, it builds a case for the Jews to justify 'recovering' the lost territory of Israel.

The Book of Esther is not a religious book at all, and does not even mention God. In the words of Martin Luther, it "lionises the Jews", but after all it was written by a Jew. Religious propaganda can also be found, for example in the Book of Daniel. What rational person would believe that the hated enemy of the Jews, Nebuchadnezzar, would eat grass like oxen and then, on recovering from this mischief, worship and praise the Jewish God (Daniel 4:33-4)? This passage so obviously was written as a mocking reference to humiliate Nebuchadnezzar in the eyes of its readers.

Are there human beings outside of Earth?

No one knows for sure if life exists outside of the planet Earth. There are some human beings outside of the planet Earth on the International Space Station which is in orbit about 250 miles above the planet.

What does putting dust on your head signify?

In Judaism, the putting of dust on the head is a symbol of mourning. In Genesis 3:19, it reads,"... For DUST you are, And to DUST you shall return." This also reminds us of this passage in that we shall also become dust. Acts 22:23 Threw Dust in the air Dust and ashes used in mourning a dead person. Mourning and Anger can be closely related and it is easy to move from one to the other. Paul is treated as one "dead" to his people. Custom Origins At a funeral, mourners stripped their garments to the waist, carried baskets of dust on their head then poured it over the corpse creating a mound thus marking the grave. Eventually, the garb worn was known as mourning dress, and the basket was disregarded, but the earth on the head became a symbol of mourning. After time the placing the dust on the head stopped and was just thrown in the air. The tearing of clothes was symbolic that they would tear Paul apart if they could.

How many people were with Joshua at Jericho?

Assuming that the figures for the Exodus were correct, and that there was replacement values for the 40 years in the desert, about two million people. This is allowing for the two tribes that did not cross the Jordan to total about one million people. Also accounting that the tribe of Judah had the largest population and Benjamin had the smallest, the average figure should have been about two million, including women and children.
