Fireflies was released as a single in July of 2009, and came out in the album 'Ocean Eyes' that September.
yes, she attends azusa pacific university.
her name is ann Marie monson. (twitter.com/annmariemonson)
There is not a particular amount of metaphors in 'Fireflies' because the song itself can be interpreted as a single metaphor.
Owl City is the one-man band of Adam Young. He has collaborated with Relient K singer Matt Thiessen on a few songs, and has also had guest vocals by Breanne Duren.
He does use a backing band for live performances. The members of this band are:
Breanne Duren (background vocals/keyboards)
Matthew Decker (drums)
Laura Musten (violin)
Hannah Schroeder (cello)
Fireflies by Owl City is an electronic song that is also considered a form of synth-pop.
Yes.
OWL CITY"s Adam young is christian. YAY!!! =) <3
He's either Christian or Catholic, but most likely he's Christian.
Actually, Roman Catholicism is a subdivision of the Christian religion. ~WREmix
There is much controversy over this matter, but the two possibilities are these:
1. He wrote it to honor a dead girlfriend. (It has since been proven that his girlfriend never died.)
2. He wrote it as a tribute to his girlfriend (Ann Marie) whom he missed while on tour.
Adam Young (Owl City) first started making music as a result of his insomnia.
Because he had insomnia (an illness where you can't get to sleep at night) , he'd go down to his parent's basement every night and work with one keyboard and one computer.
Eventually, he began uploading these songs he made onto his Myspace account and he was a big hit.
He then became noticed by a record label and in 2007, he released his first album, Maybe I'm Dreaming. In 2008, he released his second album, Of June and in the last few months of 2009 this third album Ocean Eyes was released.
He is adorable! I love him! And he is such a good musician! him: http://cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users16/xxdearmiaxx/default/adam-young--large-msg-125408809977.jpg
Hot Air Balloon is just a cute little song about Adam and a girl building/taking a ride in a hot air balloon. I don't think there is any deep meaning behind the song, it's just for fun :)
On his album "Ocean Eyes," in the "thank you" section, he thanks Jesus Christ, "to who I owe everything."
Adam young is a christian, he incorporates a large amount of his faith in his music, usually in a subtle way. His faith is shown strongly in his song "Tidal Wave"
This is what his blog says
After high school I moved to Minneapolis and spent the dead of winter in Minnesota working the graveyard shift at UPS. By default, everyone hated me and I hated being there so I moved home, got another dead end job and wasted a semester and a half at Riverland Community College thinking I could make something of myself (it wasn't a waste because the college was "bad" but because I couldn't make myself do the work and eventually got myself onto the academic probation list and thrown out). This is when I started producing music. How it all ended up working out, I'll never know.
Mid-semester I read a short story by Ambrose Bierce for one of my required english courses, a story called "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" that had a profound effect on me. It wasn't until later that I discovered the 1962 French film adaptation that ended up changing my general outlook, my frame of mind, my point of perspective, and my entire life from that moment on. It was a hammer between the eyes and I remember driving my white beat-up 92′ Caravan to work at Coke with tears in my eyes because of the ironic and obvious spiritual comparisons between my life and the impact of the story.
Read it for yourself or watch the film if you wish to draw your own conclusions. I find both totally inspiring and incredibly powerful. The film is one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I've ever seen.
People tend to ask me "why Owl City?" and it's not the kind of answer I can explain in thirty seconds during a loud meet-and-greet while the opener is soundchecking in the same room two people are trying to converse in. Even if you and I had half an hour and a quiet coffee shop, it's not that simple.
Make of it what you will. After reading the story or watching the film, I always walk away feeling like I've gotta start living… an emotion I believe we all need to feel more often than we do.
Each time I think about it, the character in the story is me… and all I have left is a little bit of time.
That's why Owl City.
Owl City is actually just Adam Young, and no, Adam Young is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called "Mormons"), but he has stated that he is a Christian.
No. Adam Young is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called "Mormons"). He has said that he is a Christian. Mormons ARE christians, but he has more specifically said that he is a southern baptist. :edit: Just to clarify, Mormons do believe in the same God as stated in the bible, so they are Christian.
Answer to :edit: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints read and accept the King James Version of the Bible as inspired scripture. They believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God as recorded in the King James Bible. Many Christian churches vary in several doctrines. Those differences do not disqualify them from being Christian, as long as they accept Jesus Christ as Savior for all God's children, and strive to follow His teachings.
Actually in an interview, he claimed to have Asperger Syndrome which is a mild form of autism. That's why on stage he moves strangely, why he is socially awkward, and makes music all of the time.
As a guy with mild Aspergers syndrome, I'll have you know that it is, in fact, a form of Autism. (Can you tell I have it? No. Am I functional? Yes. Am I capable of being a member of this website? Yes.) I have it easy, but there are many people who have much worse than me. People who if you stare at them for a certain amount of time, will throw fits and tantrums. Before you answer flag and comment on another question, I'd highly suggest that you get your facts straight.

Owls have many different habitats, depending on the species. Some live in tree holes and trunks, others in farms and bushes, some in forests. It really depends what owl you're looking for.
It really depends on what form of repetition you mean. The chorus is repeated multiple times throughout the song, but if you mean vocal repetition, (single words or phrases repeated consecutively) then no. Although there is a slight echo at the end of some verses. However, in the Fireflies Remix (on the Ocean Eyes Deluxe Version album) there is much vocal repetition.

No. It is not. But "To The Sky" is in Legend Of The Guardians The Owls Of Gahoole
God. Adam is christian.
The lyrics make a whole bunch more sense that way too.
"I can finally see that you're right there beside me"
God was always there, it just takes a while to see Him sometimes.
The inside of the Ocean Eyes CD booklet says:
Vocals on The Tip of the Iceberg & Meteor Shower by Melisa Morgan
Vocals on Meteor Shower by Jolie Lindholm
Vocals on The Saltwater Room & On the Wing by Breanne Duren
The Maybe I'm Dreaming CD booklet says "Additional vocals by Breanne Duren and Austin Tofte".
Breanne Duren is probably the girl you mean, because she is part of Owl City's live band. She plays the keyboard and does background vocals. Breanne Duren also has some of her own music on iTunes, if you'd like to check it out.
