The great thing about college today is that no one has to go without it. Yes, it does take some sacrifice but the long term awards make it very worth while.

Most working adults maintain their current employment while going to school on a part-time basis. Some employers will even help with the cost of the tuition. If not there is always Financial Aid assistance in one form or another. For example, if you do not qualify for financial aid on a federal or state level, you can still apply for a guaranteed student loan. This kind of loan is usually at a lower interest rate, and you do not have to start paying it back until you have been out of school for six months. In addition, there may be some scholarships available to you. First apply for financial aid, then apply for a scholarship. Because of the many types of scholarships - even ones that are particular to the school you are applying to or registered at - you state on the application that you are applying for any scholarship you may be eligible for. The support staff within the Financial Aid Office will then match your qualifications to available scholarships. Also remember this; never assume you do not qualify for financial aid. Let them tell you do not qualify. Many individuals do not apply because they themselves feel they do not qualify, which could be off target. Also, make sure you apply early, and do it online, not through snail mail. Doing it online will give you much faster results. Ask the Financial Aid Office for information on how to apply online. Lastly, remember this also; in regards to scholarships, colleges will always run out of money before they run out of eligible candidates. So once again, apply early!

If your work limits or interferes with your required time on campus, most colleges and universities today offer online courses, and degrees you can work on from home. So, if you really wish to further your education, there is nothing to prevent you from doing so. I did it while supporting a family, so can you! Your biggest obstacle today is going to be putting it off until tomorrow. Procrastination is one of the biggest stealer of dreams. Do not let anything steal your own and your families dreams for a better life.
