channels are the "colour plates" that make up the picture they are basically layered to create colours and shades - when you look at the channels you can adjust each colour independently of all others

Layers are basically link creating a transparent film over the original picture and then working on each layer i.e. like having clear film with parts of a picture on each , when place one on top f each other they create a full picture

Using Screen Dash you can combine 2 images to make them one image. All you simply do is upload or screenshot the first image, then using the image tool add the second image. Then crop and position the image the way you like and save or instantly image host.

What you mean by join two images? You can open two images separately and drag with Move Tool selected one image on top of another by simple drag and drop. You can open two images as Photoshop layers from Bridge, also image can be imported into another through Place command from File menu.

Well usually when you have a serial number you've already purchased a copy of Photoshop, whether from online or from a store. Without a serial number photoshop is useless to you... It'll most likely be a 30 day trial and then you will have to submit a serial number. The only way to get a working serial number is from purchasing the software from a NOTABLE source. Not from a shady looking place like Savefile or any of the major free file sources. Make sure that when you get your serial number that it is from a credible source or otherwise you'll run into a problem that I ran into when I purchased a copy of CS2 online, I paid $30 for it (great deal I thought) but it turned out to be an invalid serial number when I contacted the people at Adobe. So yeah, if you want photoshop to work then purchase a VALID serial number. (Yes you do need to pay for photoshop in order to get a serial number.)

Another way is to use File > Automate > Batch but you must record action first. Also you can create droplet from action from File > Automate > Create Droplet. Droplet is mini application which you can place in any folder and drag images onto it to process multiple images. Again you must be familiar with actions to record action for Batch processing and Droplets.
