Pocahontas was kidnapped when she was 10 years old

Pocahontas was also known as Rebecca Rolfe, and lived to the age of 22. She was known for her assistance of the colonials in Jamestown. She has had many stories told about her saving John Smith from her kinsmen.

Pocahontas was born in near the current town of Richmond Virginia about 15 years before European settlers arrived there. Very little real information is known about this time, as Europeans were still building the ships to come here.

Matoaka (pocahontas) died on a ship near London in March, 1617. She was buried in a churchyard in Gravesend on the Thames River.

Joh Rolfe (her husband) was going to England on buisness and the London Company thought it would be good PR for her to go becaus the colonys were running out of money and to get more people to go by showing them that the natives could be "civilized" .

it was never john smith she was 12 when she meet him and married he made the whole thing up later on when she came to England she was married to Kocoum for three years than he died and after smith went back to England because of an self inflicted injury she was kidnapped for 4 years and married john Rolfe and baptised as Rebecca

The story we know is not true. Actually the colonist landed in an area of 14,000 Native Americans and in the worse land in the area. Powhatan pretty much left them alone. I think he figured that they would die from the bad water and disease . He was fairly right. Within 6 months there were only 34 men left alive of the 104 who came. It wasn't until after his death that the brother of Powhatan attacked the colony. The story about Smith is also not true. He did NOT save Jamestown. He was only there a very few months and he lied about his contribution to the settlement in a book he wrote several years later. He also made up the story about Pocahontas and she died young so couldn't refute his story. The man who did save Jamestown was the husband of Pocahontas and gave tobacco seeds to the colony. That was John Rolfe.

Pocahontas didn't have an education. She was taught by her mother. She learned how do make clay pots, weave baskets, and how to work in gardens. Also she learned how to make clothing from animal skins. Taught by the Englishmen to speak English. John Rolfe was the first person to teach Pocahontas the Christian Religion. Also she learned 1,100 edible kinds of berries and greens from her mother.

John Smith's leadership had a great influence on the native tribe. He taught them the ways of the white man he gave them guns and taught them how to hunt with the guns. The native used to call the guns thunder or fire sticks because of the sound and light they let off when fired.

When john smith was injured from a gunpowder explosion, he had to be sent back to England. The English told the Native American people he had died. So when Pocahontas saw john smith in england, she was surprised. Also, she was already married to john rolfe, so there was nothing she could do about it.

Pocahontas died at the age of twenty she died from a disease called Turberculosis which was very commen back then. She died in Europe in 1617. She died VERY young and accomplished many good things before her passing she deserves to be rememberd which she is.

No one knows who she was because, she died when Pocahantas was only a few months old. There is no history about her.

Skin color doesnt matter. and although one love there famliy and repect there beliefs the arent always right, and more i cant think of at the moment.
