Chlamydia lives for just a few minutes outside your body. If you use the pole within minutes, and someone else's vaginal discharge makes contact with the mucous membranes of your vulva, you might get infected. The odds are fairly low.
Many dancers have concerns about the possibility of picking up infections from the pole. Regular screening is probably a good approach for peace of mind.
Pole dancing is an amazing form of exercise.
Having done pole dancing myself I can tell you that it works many muscles of the body, including the core muscles, the obliques, the arms and the legs.
To climb, spin etc on a pole involves strength and is a good cardio work out too.
Enjoy :)
you can climb it, go down it, twirl around it, you can do whatever you want with it. but make shur there are no little kids around.

If you're looking for a pole for exercise or professional use (as opposed to a one-time birthday or anniversary suprise) then you'll want a professional grade pole. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY "OVER-THE-COUNTER" POLES, such as Carmen Electra, Peekaboo, My Sxy Little Pole, etc. Any pole sold in a novelty store (like Spencers) isn't meant for heavy use.
Try these 3 professional-grade brands:
Platinum Stages
X-Pole (US or UK)
Lil Mynx
Any professional-grade pole will run anywhere from $200-$400 dollars, depending on how intricate you want to get. Brass will be more expensive than chrome or stainless steel and will also require regular polishing. Brass is a great gripping material, but is very high maintenance, so make sure you're prepared for the upkeep before you order.
I have a Platinum Stages Removable One Piece Superpole and it's wonderful! All of the professional poles have up to a 200lb weight limit and won't damage your ceiling or floor. Call the customer service number if you have ANY questions. It's better to be safe, than sorry! Good luck!
a dancer A Go-Go girl wears a skimpy costume like a fringed bikini and shakes around to fast music. They were popular in the 1960's on dance shows but were also seen in movies. Sometimes they were seen elevated above the stage or floor to make them more apparent. They may or may not still be around.
