"Mycota" refers to a taxonomic group that includes fungi, while "mycete" is a term used to describe individual organisms within the fungi kingdom. In essence, mycete is a specific organism, while mycota is a larger category that encompasses multiple organisms.

Chalcedony is a type of cryptocrystalline silica composed of quartz, while chert is a sedimentary rock made up of microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz. Both chalcedony and chert are similar in composition but can differ in terms of color, translucency, and formation processes.

To somatize is to take stress and basically turn it into or express it in somatic ways. A child with separation anxiety may somatize the anxiety and express it as a stomach ache. In somatization, the stomach ache is real, but a major cause of the stomach ache is anxiety. The term "somatization" is associated with a specific disorder, which involves the occurrence of multiple physical complaints over a period of time which are believed to have more of a basis in mental health rather than in an actual physical disorder (See the Diagnostic Manual of Mental Disorders for more detail on that). The term psychosomatic is a more general term for the study of medical issues in which psychological factors play a major role. Psychosomatic medicine would include the study and treatment of, for instance, heart disease and diabetes in which psychological factors play an important role, but also other somatoform disorders (of which somatization disorder is one). such as In conversion blindness (also a somatoform disorder), the sufferer cannot see even though the brain and eye function normally. It is believed that because of psychological factors, the sufferer's exprience is that they cannot see. They are not believed to be 'faking" blindness (that would be termed "malingering if the purpose was for some sort of secondary gain like money, and it would be called "factitious disorder" if the purpose was to for primary gain like being in the sick role and receiving sympathy). In conversion blindess the sufferer really experiences themselves as blind despite the fact that the cause is psychological rather than physiological. The psychoanalytic explanation for this would be that there was something in the person's environment that they desperately do not want to see, and "blindness" is the unconscious mind's solution to the problem. In the psychosomatic study of heart disease, however, there is more of a focus on the impact of stress, anxiety, and anger on the heart and its functioning. In psychoneuroimmunology, there is a focus on the ability of certain personality traits and ways of managing stress to impact overall health and resistance to disease.

Not always, although the term is widely used for plastics such as polystyrene and polyethylene, and for artificial fibers such as Dacron, which like plastic bottles is a form of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). There are some natural polyesters.

A "polyester" is any natural or synthetic polymer (repeated chain molecule) containing esters. But the term is usually applied to two groups of synthesized molecules: thermoplastics and thermosets.

You don't specify anything to compare it to. If you mean the difference between LDPE and HDPE, then LDPE has branched chains which pack together loosely, making a softer material. HDPE is firmer because it has unbranched chains which pack together tightly.

As I understand the way the Growing Without Schooling crowd uses the terms, unschooling refers more to the process of removing your child from school and overcoming the negative effects of the compulsory education process; homeschooling is the more general term referring to home-based learning. I'd love to come up with a better term than homeschooling, due to the implication that the child is spending all their time at home (see my comments on "socialization"); but it's the best I've seen so far.

The process explained [above] could actually be considered "de-schooling" rather than unschooling. Unschooling is child-led learning in a home environment rather than duplicating school and its curriculums at home. Most unschoolers don't follow lesson plans, or even have "school learning" time structured into their day. Subjects are covered when the child's interest dictates not when the "educational experts" say its time for every child to know that subject.

Unschooling, for this unschooler, is based in the beliefs that children:

are incredible learning machines, as shown by their ability to learn language and to function in society with little or no explicit instruction

are insatiably curious about the adult world,

and are driven to learn by these features, and sometimes children learn *despite* our attempts to teach them!

Unschoolers also believe, or at least this unschooler believes, that *imposing* an agenda on a child is more counter-productive than helpful, because it doesn't take the child seriously.

I think a lot of this can be justified by reflecting on one's own learning experiences. Nobody makes me learn new things, I just do because learning is fun, or because I want to know about this subject for my own purposes (even if those purposes are as prosaic as justifying my paycheck). The same is true for children.

I think it is also motivated by a certain kind of respect for the rights of children. *I* don't want to be told what or when to study, what right have I to tell another what to do and when?

Unschooling requires a lot of faith in your child, that they will learn the things that are important for them to know despite not being "forced" to, that their seemingly patternless play is experimentation that will pay off in insight, and that they will stick to a subject through the "hard parts". Again, reflecting on one's own experience can help solidify this faith, as can reflecting on the behavior of one's own children.

To me, "unschooling" simply means when a parent says they are homeschooling, but does not take the time, nor make the effort to do it correctly, and hinders their child's education.

That is not true!

I was homeschooled my whole life, and never fell behind. Infact, I knew alot more then all the kids in public school. I was unschooled, which doesn't mean I never did a work sheet, it just means that I didn't just do work sheets. Unschooling is alot more hands-on, instead of learning how yeast raises in a book, you would do an experement with yeast, and watch it raise. People always act like homeschooled kids are these weird animals that know one knows anything about, but their just like everyone else. People like you think that a child belongs in school, where they are all tought to be perfect at every subject. Which is why almost every child hates school. People are forcing them to be like everybody else. Every child learns differently, one kid may be great at math but horrible at history, another kid may be perfect at spelling, but hate science. It just depends on the kid. All the kids in school are all in a class with a bunch of other kids their age, with all different questions and all different problems, and only one teacher to answer them all. The child then doesn't get enough one on one time with the teacher, then making the subject harder to learn. I remember when I was little having total conversations with adults, who were about three times as old as me. I liked talking to adults more the I liked talking to kids, and I was one. The adults had more interesting things to talk about then the kids did, plus the kids never understood what I was talking about anyway.

Lots of times when a parent unschools their child it is for a reason, not because they don't feel like doing anything. If they wanted to do that, they would just put them in school. Where the teacher raises your child for you.

Denier is a unit of measurement applied to silk, rayon or nylon yarn. It is equal to the weight in grams of 9000 meters of the yarn. Generally, the higher the denier number, the thicker and more durable the resulting fabric will be.

Cotton fibers swell up when wet with water which in effect shortens the length of the fiber. The temperature of the water has no bearing. If the fiber is then dried quickly, the fiber permanently retains the swelled up and shortened attitude. If dried on low heat or no heat cotton will usually not shrink. This removes the water slowly and returns the fibers to their pre-wet size. Dry cleaning solvent evaporates quickly from cotton fibers allowing for a shrink free process. Most manufacturers preshrink cotton fabric prior to constructing garments. However, preshrunk garments may still shrink 2 to 3%. So if it is just right - get the next size.

what does 100% polyester mean

it depends on on if its really the weather. if its really hot in your summer time then probably not, especially if you sweat easily..but if their comfortable on you and their descent looking then sure why not

Well, the huge difference between Windows 95 and Windows 2000 is that since Windows 95 is five years older than Windows 2000 Windows 95 is on the lower end of the scale of revolutionary technology.

Another big fact is that the two OSes are targeted at different parts of life: 95 is targeted for educational and home use while Windows 2000 is a "Professional" (buisiness-targeted) OS. Every product will be different. Polyester can contain BPA and I have heard of BPA found in clothing products. There's probably no way to know if your polyester contains BPA unless the manufacturer has come out since the BPA issue became known and states that their products contain no BPA.

Hopefully it will be removed from all products someday along with Fluoride, HFCS, Aspartame, MSG, and all the other chemicals there knowingly poisoning us with.
