Can you take dogs on London tube trains?

Yes, dogs are allowed on the London Tube but only when they don't disturb other passengers so I would not go during the rush hour (I guess you don't want to go at that time of day anyway unless you have to). A lot of Tube stations don't have lifts so you might have to carry your dog on the escalators.

Is a pomeranian dog bad for kids with asthma?

Yes it is the dog has fur which is what triggers asthma The dog I have is a shih tzu, which has hair instead of fur. The only disadvantage with a dog with hair is hair grows fast and the dog will need to have his/her hair trimmed more often like ours.

Where can you buy pomeranian dogs?

You can get a Pomeranian from a reputable dog breeder if you want a puppy with a known pedigree and history or is interested in showing your dog. A breeder recommended by a friend or a relative is the best, as some breeders may sell unhealthy puppies.

You may also get a Pomeranian from an animal shelter. Not only are you offering a new home to an animal (at a usually inexpensive price), but you can be sure that it is healthy. However, potential behaviour problems developed from the past may be unknown.

Acquiring a Pomeranian from a friend or relative is also possible, and it is very unlikely that you will end up with a sick dog. However, the chances of getting a dog through this method are odd as most owners want to keep their dogs, few are interested in breeding their dogs and the people you know may not own a Pomeranian.

It is also possible to get a Pomeranian from a pet shop, yet this is highly notrecommended as many pet shops are known to sell puppies that are sick or have potential health problems. Many pet shop owners are ignorant about the puppies' health, as well as puppy mills, which is where most pet shop dogs come from. Many puppy mill owners are known to keep their dogs in small cages that were infrequently clean, leading to the spread of diseases as well as causing cruelty to animals.

No matter which way you acquired your dog, it is compulsory to take it to a reputable veterinary clinic for a check-up within three days after its arrival.

Can Pomeranians eat peanuts?

No, peanuts for any breed of dog is not OK. A little peanut butter (and I mean little) is fine to get a medication in pill form into your dog, but other than that peanuts are extremely hard to digest for dogs, and some shelled peanuts can have mold on them and cause allergies.

How can i get my newly acquired 6 yr old pomeranian to eat dog food over people food when he suffers seisures from not eating when we dont give people food?

This is not caused by not eating people food. Take your dog to a vet, there is something else here that is a problem. It could be an allergy to what is in your dogfood, it could be a diabetic seizure, it could be a form of epilepsy. It could be a worm fit (caused by a large worm population in the dog's intestine). Could be any number of things, but seizures because you don't feed people food it not it. Take your dog to the vet ASAP.

What are Pomeranians?

The Pomeranian is a cocky, animated companion with an extroverted personality. This compact little dog is an active toy breed with an alert character and fox-like expression. Today, the Pomeranian is a popular companion dog and competitive show dog. They can come in all colors, patterns, and variations although orange and red are the most popular.

A Look Back

The breed's name originally came from the historical region of Pomerania (now present day Germany and Poland). Originally weighing nearly 30 pounds, the dog served as an able herder of sheep in its larger form. They were not well known until 1870, when the Kennel Club (England) recognized the so-called Spitz dog. In 1888, Queen Victoria fell in love with a Pomeranian in Florence, Italy, and brought the specimen back to England, influencing its popularity dramatically.

Right Breed for You?

Pomeranians are very intelligent dogs that love to please. Because of their outgoing temperaments, they can be very good family dogs with the right training. Due to their small size they don't require much exercise, but are an energetic breed that needs attention from their people frequently. They possess a thick double coat, which needs to be brushed on a regular basis.

  • Toy Group; AKC recognized in 1888.
  • Ranging in size from 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight for the show specimen being 4 to 6 pounds.
  • Bred down from sled and herding dogs, companion.

When purchasing a dog should you look for a papered purebred or a mixed breed?

Answer

It all depends on you.

All types of Dogs are lovely and make great companions. It all depends on the owners. It is to be believed that calm owners have calm dogs. Just like babies.

If it is important to you to have a papered puppy, do your research. Visit the A.K.C. OR the C.K.C. on line. Very informative. If you know what breed you are looking for these sites will provide you with all your questions. Do your research on the breeder as well. You are looking at spending a little money if you go this route.

If a mixed breed, all are lovely, they make great companions. Think about perhaps agility classes, all dogs like that. Visit your nearest SPCA. You don't have to spend a lot of money to adopt a dog.

Answer

If you want a working dog pedigrees are definitely the way to go, or find a breeder and talk about it with them (it's never a bad idea to go to a GOOD breeder). If your looking for a companion animal go straight to the nearest shelter or humane society. Stay far, far away from puppy mills. The more business they get the longer they'll be around.

Answer

A dog trainer I met once told me that any dog can be trained to do just about anything. Clearly, though, some dogs are better suited for some jobs than others. You wouldn't get a Chihuahua if you wanted a guard dog, and you probably wouldn't like having a bloodhound retrieve ducks for you. Dog breeds are the result of years of breeding to "build" a dog that excels at a certain kind of work. That's why the American Kennel Club has so many different breeds registered. Working dogs, upland hunting dogs, retrievers, sight hounds, scent hounds..the list goes on. Just about any dog can be a great companion, but it's wise to seek a breed that suits you and your life. An elderly lady might not be happy trying to discipline a strong willed Akita, and an avid pheasant hunter would probably be disappointed with a Pekinese. Study up, learn about the breeds, and find a dog that suits you and your life. Mongrels can be great dogs, but a pedigreed Gordon Setter will probably be a better companion for a grouse hunter than a pit bull. The choice is yours. The options are many. Study up, choose with care, and have fun. And IF you choose to get a pedigreed dog, get one from a breeder who is trying to improve the breed, not make money. They'll still want to be paid a fair price, but the ones you want will give a health guarantee as well as a healthy dog with all it's shots, etc. They also know the breed very well, and can give you a lot of good information about diet, training, behavior and so on. NEVER buy a dog from a pet store. Typically, they get their dogs from the puppy mills the previous person mentioned, and you can easily find yourself with a sick, neurotic dog on your hands. Getting a stray from a pound is a wonderful thing to do..but choose very carefully, especially if you have children. Good luck. Choosing the breed you want is half the fun, I think.

I'd agree with all above, and add again it all depends on you, your family size, the living area, your budget, your time.

Answer

I think both are fine dogs mixed breed dogs often live longer then purebred dogs and are as sweet as a purebred but purebreds are sometimes better at training and are better in dog shows so it is really up to which ever one you like most.

10 mo old pomeranian who seems to be pregnant you heard this may be bad due to her young age What is the chance of her pups surviving?

It is not exactly desirable to let a pup get pregnant during her first heat, which generally comes at about 9 months of age. When it does happen, it is not a real bad thing, and the chance of the pups surviving are pretty good. If you have any questions, contact your vet. Remember, the vet can at about 4 weeks, take an ultra sound. You will be able to see the pups move around, and the vet may be able to tell you how many there will be. Just keep an eye on her, and if at all you have any questions, contact your vet.
