Prophet Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad gave Khadijah not only his love and companionship but also his unwavering trust and partnership as both a husband and a confidante. He shared his experiences and revelations with her, particularly after receiving the first message from the Angel Gabriel, which she supported wholeheartedly. Khadijah played a crucial role in encouraging him during the early days of his prophethood, providing emotional and financial support. Their relationship exemplified mutual respect, deep affection, and shared values.

In Islam, the taking of a life is generally considered a serious matter and is subject to strict ethical and legal guidelines. Killing is only permissible in specific circumstances, such as self-defense or during a just war, and even then, it must be approached with caution and within the bounds of Islamic law. Most interpretations of Islam emphasize the sanctity of life and advocate for peace and conflict resolution through non-violent means. Therefore, any act of killing outside these strict parameters is typically viewed as unjust and contrary to Islamic teachings.

Muhammad received his first revelation in 610 CE, and he conquered Mecca in 630 CE. This marks a span of approximately 20 years between the two events. The revelations laid the foundation for Islam, while the conquest of Mecca solidified his leadership and the religion's influence in the region.

Shea Islam, or Shia Islam, began after the death of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in 632 CE, primarily over disputes regarding his rightful successor. The split became more pronounced at the Battle of Siffin in 657 CE and later solidified after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet, in 680 CE. Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was not alive when the Shia-Sunni divide formally began.

The son-in-law and cousin of Muhammad who was murdered after becoming caliph was Uthman ibn Affan. He served as the third caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate from 644 to 656 CE. Uthman's rule faced significant criticism and political unrest, ultimately leading to his assassination by rebels in Medina. His death marked a pivotal moment in Islamic history, contributing to the First Fitna, or civil war, within the Muslim community.

The poet often associated with Prophet Muhammad is the renowned 13th-century Persian Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Rumi, who composed verses celebrating the Prophet's life and teachings. Additionally, the famous Arabic poet Al-Busiri wrote "Qasida al-Burda," a poem in praise of Muhammad that has gained significant acclaim. Both poets express deep reverence and love for the Prophet through their works.

Prophet Muhammad chose the month of Thul-Qidah to perform his visit to Makkah because it is a sacred month in which warfare is traditionally prohibited, allowing for a peaceful journey. This timing also coincided with the pilgrimage season, making it a suitable period for engaging with followers and conveying his message. The visit aimed to re-establish the significance of the Kaaba and reinforce Islamic teachings in a context of safety and reverence.

The distance from Mecca (Makka) to Medina (Madina) is approximately 450 kilometers (about 280 miles) by road. This journey typically takes around 4 to 5 hours by car, depending on traffic and road conditions. The two cities are significant in Islamic history and are often visited by pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah.

His death is believed to have been due to natural causes, possibly related to an illness he suffered from in his later years. His reign was marked by military conquests and the expansion of his empire, but he faced significant challenges in his final years, including internal dissent and military failures.

Prophet Muhammad studied swimming in the pond of a man named Al-Harith ibn al-Simmah. He learned to swim alongside his foster brother, Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Asad. This experience is often mentioned in Islamic tradition to highlight the Prophet's early life and skills.

Hazrat Maria Katiba was an Ethiopian woman and one of the notable wives of the Prophet Muhammad. She was gifted to the Prophet by the Egyptian ruler Muqawqis and is often recognized for bearing him a son, Ibrahim, who died in infancy. Maria is revered in Islamic tradition for her piety and her role in the early Muslim community. Her life and contributions highlight the diverse backgrounds of the Prophet's companions and family.

The Prophet Muhammad had several uncles, among them the most notable were Abu Talib, who was his guardian and protector, and Abbas, who later converted to Islam. Other uncles included Hamza, who became a prominent martyr in the early Islamic battles, as well as Al-Harith, Al-Zubair, and Abu Lahab, who opposed Muhammad and Islam. Each played varying roles in his life and the early Islamic community.

A very important event in the life of Prophet Muhammad was the Night of Ascension, known as Isra and Mi'raj, which is believed to have occurred around 621 CE. During this miraculous journey, he was taken from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended to the heavens, where he encountered various prophets and received divine instructions, including the command to establish the five daily prayers. This event not only strengthened his mission but also solidified the spiritual foundation of Islam for his followers.

Muhammad's vision, which he believed to be a revelation from the angel Gabriel, convinced him of the existence of one God (Allah) and the need to communicate God's message to humanity. This experience led him to become a prophet and to advocate for the worship of Allah alone, the importance of moral conduct, and social justice. His vision inspired the teachings of Islam and set the foundation for a new religious and social order in 7th-century Arabia.

Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, was not a slave. He was born in Mecca around 570 CE into the Quraysh tribe, a respected and prominent family. Throughout his life, he engaged in trade and held various leadership roles within his community. While he advocated for the fair treatment of slaves and worked towards their emancipation, he himself was never enslaved.

Prophet Muhammad had a total of eleven wives throughout his life, but he was married to multiple women at different times. Out of these, nine wives were alive at the time of his passing in 632 CE. The wives who died during his lifetime include Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, his first wife, and Zaynab bint Khuzayma.

Before Muhammad received his revelations, Bedouin society was primarily tribal and nomadic, characterized by a strong sense of community and kinship. The tribes were often engaged in raiding and trade, with a social structure that valued honor, bravery, and hospitality. Polytheism was prevalent, with various tribes worshiping different deities, and there was a rich oral tradition of poetry and storytelling. The harsh desert environment shaped their lifestyle, fostering resilience and adaptability among the Bedouin people.

Hazrat Muhammad conquered Makkah in the year 630 A.D. This event, known as the "Conquest of Makkah," marked a significant moment in Islamic history as it led to the establishment of Islam as a major religious and political force in the Arabian Peninsula. The conquest was largely peaceful, with the Prophet emphasizing forgiveness and reconciliation. This event solidified Makkah as the spiritual center of Islam.

In Ghar Hira, the Cave of Hira, Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during one of his reflective retreats. It was here that Jibreel revealed the first verses of the Quran, specifically the verses from Surah Al-Alaq, which commanded Muhammad to "Read" (Iqra). This moment marked the beginning of Muhammad's prophethood and the revelation of the Quran, laying the foundation for Islam.

Ruqayyah is an Arabic name meaning "ascending" or "to rise." It is often associated with a sense of elevation or spiritual upliftment. The name is also historically significant, as Ruqayyah was one of the daughters of the Prophet Muhammad. In Islamic culture, it carries connotations of purity and piety.

Lastly, Askia promoted education and the spread of Islam, notably through the establishment of institutions like the University of Sankore in Timbuktu, which became a center of learning in the Islamic world.
