Ok, this will be long. Barrel racing is a sport where mostly women race in a cloverleaf pattern and try to get the fastest time. The best horses for this sport tend to be quarter horses, but I, as a barrel racer, prefer palominos. It is important that the horses used have the athletic ability and are treated like athletes. This sport does not abuse horses because the horses used are properly trained and love what they do. MOST people that race a lot have backup horses as well so that their main horses can get a break. My horse is named Gold Dust and I think there are some really cool names out there. I also like the concept of a registered name and a barn name so I call my horse Firefly. Horses have a mind of their own so yes any kind of horse riding could be considered dangerous but Barrel Racing is definitely going to be on the higher danger scale. I mean you're running break neck speeds around barrels if you're advanced and any fall off a horse can hurt. So yes ultimately it's dangerous but it you have the proper training, a good horse, and are safely equipped and don't try to do things in a dangerous way such as velcro or rubber band your feet to the stirrups you should have a great experience and be able to get right back on if you have the occasional fall.

NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. A mechanic from Atlanta named Red Vogt came up with the acronim and the name. Red Vogt was the mechanic for Red Byron, NASCAR's first champion.
