Replace the hose or use a splice kit for a temporary repair.

The cooling system on a car has to be pressurized, which a bad radiator cap fails to produce. It can cause overheating, therefore resulting in engine damage (i.e. blown head gasket) if left for too long and it can also cause the system to not heat to the correct temp at all. Obviously, the other effect is leakage.

That is a sign that oil has escaped the crankcase and is now mixed with the antifreeze, you should check your engine for a blown head gasket.

If you're referring to automobile radiators, most have a petcock at the bottom that can be unscrewed with the hand to drain the radiator.

might be a bad head gasket or radiator might be clogged or timing might be off you would need a machanic to look at it and diagnose it

first of all let me state that if your coolant was not mixed according with your state climate we'll that's how your rad froze there are only two things you can do,..1st thing is to run hot water on top of your rad ,..2nd is to stall block heater to your engine and 3rd id to mix your coolant accordingly so it won't freeze again

No, if you want your car to just run. Yes, if you want your car to perform. I wouldn't say its a dramatic difference, because all the shroud does it regulate the air the fan is blowing. This cools the engine. I've seen people run without it, its not too uncommon. Might was well change it out. But if its an old car and not modified, it really doesn't matter

A radiator is defective if fluids are leaking out of the radiator or there is a leak of steam. Or, if thecore is blocked, the radiator will remain cold or just slightly warm in places.

no! if your seeing white smoke its a leaking cylinder head gasket. which is a major repair. see a certified auto tech to perform this repair.

I suspect one will be an intercooler for the turbo

Long stemmed pliers do work really well, you have to ease it out slowly, but it'll come. Then, as the pressure behind the valve overcomes the block of the valve...poof! it'll come flying out.

Then you, and anyone nearby, will get thoughroughly drenched, until you stick your finger in the gap (easier said than done) which can eventually get replaced by a hosepipe of other useful water removing device.

Tap water contains minerals, which can promote corrosion of cooling system components. Therefore, it is NOT recommended that tap water be used when filling a cooling system. Manufacturers typically recommend a 50/50 mixture of distilled/deionized water and proper antifreeze.

You may notice that the color of "red," being described is very close to the color of rust. If that is the case, then 1+1=2, right? If the cooling system is properly filled with an appropriate mix of coolant and water then this should not occur. There are three elements required to produce rust... Iron, water and oxygen. If the cooling system has not been properly filled (to include purging all the air from the system) then rusting can occur. This can occur within the coolant passages of the engine block or within the water pump housing. Since the passages inside the radiator are typically copper or aluminum (as well as in the heater core) the source of this "rust colored residue," is coming from within the engine block itself. It can also indicate a poor seal. For example, the radiator pressure cap seal. When the engine begins to cool, the molecules begin to contract and you end up with a sort of a vacuum. Air can be introduced into the cooling system, past the radiator cap, as the fluids begin to cool. Normally, one would notice the opposite effects of a bad seal while the fluids are hot and creating pressure because the fluids would likely leak out. When pressure is lost in the cooling system via a leak, the boiling point of the coolant decreases and overflow occurs more easily. Try flushing your cooling system and refilling it. Ensure to follow manufacturer guidelines on bleeding the air out of the system. If possible, have the cooling system pressure tested to check for possible leaks. If that's not an option, then monitor the coolant in the engine and if the red discoloration continues (after having bled all the air out) then start investigating all the seals for leaks.
