How do you get the hose on the bottom radiator off help 1997 Ford Expedition?

First you have to make sure you are getting the right hose. The expedition has a bit of a nightmare going on there. Start at the water pump and follow that hose to the radiator assembly. The you will need either a straight screwdriver or a pair of water pump (also called channel locks) pliers to lossen the clamp and slide it away from the radiator. Then you can gently work the hose back and forth until it frees from the radiator. You can also use your screwdriver to gently work under the hose to release it. be careful not to bend the radiator. Good luck.

Why is my fiat multipla saying its overheating when the fan is running radiator is cold and ive had the thermostat changed?

The thermostat determines when the engine is hot and switches the fans on and off. You know it is working because the fans run.

You need to get the water pump replaced, because the coolant is not circulating (that is why the radiator stays cold even though the engine is overheating). Because this requires the cambelt ("timing belt") to be removed and then put back in the correct position afterwards, this is not a simple job and is likely to cost you a couple hundred quid.

Take the opportunity to check your service history for if the cambelt is due to be changed in the next 10,000 miles - if it is, you can save money in the next couple of years by getting it changed at the same time.

Does it o/heat at idle only ? electric fan work ? Does it o/heat all the time ? Change the thermostat. How old is the rad. ? Has the water pump ever been changed ? Could have poor circulation. Make, model, will help.

What does a bad radiator cap cause?

The cooling system on a car has to be pressurized, which a bad radiator cap fails to produce. It can cause overheating, therefore resulting in engine damage (i.e. blown head gasket) if left for too long and it can also cause the system to not heat to the correct temp at all. Obviously, the other effect is leakage.
