How do you play an easy song on recorder?

Maybe someone really creative can figure out how to answer this in a Q/A Wiki, but I don't see how. Your best bet is to visit a local music shop and pick up a basic, crash course in recorder. It isn't super difficult. You have to be able to see illustrations, and ideally, to hear a recording of basic playing. We wish you the best!

What are the notes to play Mary had a little lamb on the recorder?

Answer

Left hand only version for beginners -

BAGA BBB AAA BCC

BAGA BBB AABA G

Scroll down to "Notes:" section for the direct answer.

Well, although I don't know how to play recorder (assuming recorder as in a woodwind musical instrument and also assuming that you meant something similar to "How do you play Mary had a little lamb with a recorder" and that you are asking what note as in the pitch), I would say that it depends on the key you want to play. Additionally, you will need to know how long each note is. For simplicity, you can play it in C Major.

If you know how to read from scores (music sheets), then great! You can just go to Google (possible Image) and search "Mary had a little lamb" and you should be bombarded with many scores. Don't worry, if it is a fake one, then if you try and play it (if you have the ability and with an instrument required) then it won't sound right.

Notes:

If you don't know how to read from scores (which is perfectly normal), then I'll tell you the notes directly for C Major:

EDCDEEE_DDD_EGG_EDCDEEEEDDEDC___

where "_" means that the note before it needs to be held on for one more beat. Otherwise, other notes are played evenly. The ones below are arranged in bars and phrases:

EDCD EEE_ DDD_ EGG_

EDCD EEEE DDED C___

Note that the last "C" is played for four beats, and also that when two adjacent notes are the same (e.g. "E" and "E" of bar 2) then there should be a small gap between them to tell that they are two separate notes.

Hope that helped!

What year did the first recorder come out?

You have to go back to the earliest recordings of musical works that would not fit on one record. For a while they were sold separately, but record stores also sold blank albums that had pockets for a dozen records or so. By 1925 the Victor Talking Machine Co. was selling large works like symphonies in specially printed albums, but the practice may be earlier than that date. When the vinyl LP was first marketed in 1948, Columbia wanted to avoid the notion that a single record wasn't worth four or five times as much as the usual records, so they referred to LPs as "albums" and the word stuck forever. You may be thinking of vinyl LPs, but actually large works like operas were marketed in albums with pockets just as the old records were.

What is the note c on the recorder?

There are two "C's on the recorder. One is called low c which is the very last hole on the recorder at the bottom. You play it by putting all of your fingers on the wholes they go on and your thumb on the hole in the back.

Then there is a high c which is the second highest sounding note on recorder. The second note from the top is where you place your middle finger. Just your middle finger lays on the second hole, not even the first one before it. Then on the back you put your thumb on the back hole and blow a high note.
