The Strait of Gibraltar links the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

If the Red Sea is considered in the strictest sense of the term (not including the Gulfs of Suez, Aqabah, or any waters on the other side of the Bab el-Mandeb) then Djibouti has the shortest coastline along the Red Sea.

If the Red Sea is considered in the less strict sense and includes the Gulfs of Suez, Aqabah, and Aden (on the other side of the Bab el-Mandeb), then Israel has the shortest coastline on the Red Sea. It is followed closely by Jordan.

You can not drown in the red sea because it has too much salt and salt helps you stay above the water.You could read a newspaper in it and you would not drown.

The Red Sea got its name from a phenomenon caused by a type of algae called Trichodesmium Erythraeum, which is found in the sea. When these algae blooms die off the blue-green color of sea appears to change to reddish-brown color.

It is a tourist site for two reasons, one the crossing by Moses, two as it contains to much salt , it is impossible for you to drown in it.

It separates Africa from Asia.

*The countries with a star do not border the Red Sea per se. Israel and Jordan have outlets on the Gulf of Aqabah, which is an arm of the Red Sea, but not the Red Sea itself. Somalia has its northern coastline on the Gulf of Aden, which is separated from the Red Sea by the Bab el-Mandab or the Mandeb Strait. Many people, however, consider the Gulf of Aden to be an arm of the Red Sea just like the Gulf of Aqaba.

The Red Sea is part of a major shipping route, for oil tankers among other ships.

The Mediterranean sea is a mostly enclosed sea that has limited exchange of water with outer oceans and where the water circulation is dominated by salinity and temperatue difference rather than winds while

the red sea runs along the North Eastern Edge of Africa. Some archeologist's suggest that it is such named because of a seasonal bloom of a water plant called Trichodesmium erythraeum which produces red color blooms at a certain season every year. Actually, the name, Red Sea comes from a Greek phrase called Erythra Thalassa.

Various reasons. It's relatively close to most of the tourist attractions if you stay at Sharm el-Sheikh (one hour flight to Giza for the pyramids, an hour or so to Cairo, a few hours drive to Luxor, a few more to Abu-Simbel) but it's far enough away from Cario to be enjoyable. El Gouna is further away and has less tourist attractions but is much less crowded and touristy kitch than Sharm. However, Sharm el-Sheikh has much better diving and other touristy things, like bigger souks, better fishing, etc... However to get there you have to go via Hourgada, which takes more time (as El Gouna is only 45mn drive or so from the Hourgada airport). Also, Egypt holds some reasonably cheap holidays if you go at the right time. There are also some who go to the Red Sea for religious reasons, wanting to retrace Moses' footsteps.

If it really happened, the parting of the Red Sea can only be considered a miracle. It is such an improbable miracle that some Christian apologists have sought to explain that perhaps it was not the Red Sea but a lesser body of water, such as the Reed Sea, that Moses parted. This is unnecessary, since if God is able to perform miracles, he could surely perform great miracles.

As to whether the parting of the Red Sea really happened, over 90 per cent of scholars are reported to believe that the Exodus from Egypt never happened as described in the Bible. Without an Exodus, there was no parting of the Red Sea and therefore no miracle.
