How many 100lb bags of rice equal one ton?
A short ton equals 2,000 pounds (lbs).
If one rice bag weighs 100 lbs, then:
2000÷100=202000 \div 100 = 202000÷100=20
So, 20 bags of 100 lb rice make one ton.
Now, if we convert this into kilograms (kg):
1 lb = 0.453592 kg
So, 100 lb ≈ 45.36 kg.
That means 20 × 45.36 kg = 907.2 kg, which equals one metric ton (approx).
At Disha Jute, rice bags are typically designed for 25 kg or 26 kg capacities.
So, to equal one metric ton (1,000 kg):
• Using 25 kg bags → 1000 ÷ 25 = 40 bags
• Using 26 kg bags → 1000 ÷ 26 ≈ 38.46 bags (≈39 bags)
✅ Conclusion:
• 20 bags of 100 lb rice = 1 short ton
• 40 bags of 25 kg rice or 39 bags of 26 kg rice ≈ 1 metric ton

It's not bad, but not great, either. Basmati, like all white rice, is mostly starch (carbohydrate). It's very low in fat, contains virtually no cholesterol and, of course, no trans-fats. On the other hand, white rice is low in fiber and trace nutrients compared to other grains, including brown rice.

Is jasmine rice a whole grain rice?
Every rice starts it's life as a whole grain. But if you want to use only whole grain foods, you need to find whole grain Jasmine rice. Most of what is sold is polished (or white) Jasmine. You would probably find it in specialty organic or whole food supermarkets. If it says 'polished' then it's white.
In my opinion for 'everyday' eating, go for whole grain. But for 'occasional' eating, there is no harm in using white rice, Aborio for example. Brown rice risotto just doesn't work for me, the texture is all wrong. There is not a lot more nutrition in rice with the bran on, but there is a lot more fibre (1-2g). So if fibre or weight loss are an issue, don't eat anything white. If you aren't watching your weight and are generally eating a lot of fruit and veggies, then the odd meal of white rice won't harm you!
I hope that helps, :)
