The watergate tapes are the series of tapes that was used as the main evidence to impeach Nixon. The tapes were recordings of every conversation Nixon had in his office about the Watergate scandal, they contained evidence that Nixon was trying to cover up his involvement in the scandal.

Nixon's original chief of staff was H.R. Haldeman. He was dismissed during the Watergate scandal, and replaced by Alexander Haig.

Although various theories and conflicting testimony was given over the years about the motives for the 2 burglaries, no one was ever proved the actual motive. Possibilities: just to eavesdrop on the DNC chair, to obtain financial records, to try to show Cuba was involved with the DNC, to obtain info they had re Libby.

The Paris Peace Accords were signed January 27, 1973, by the U.S., North Vietnam, South Vietnam and the Viet Cong. Under the terms, the U.S. agreed to withdraw all remaining military personnel within 60 days.

Saigon (capital of South Vietnam) fell to communist forces on April 30, 1975.

This is a false statement, not a question. The last US troops left in April 1975, but the last ground advisor troops left in March 1973.

The goal of the Watergate break in was to gain information that might be helpful in the presidential election campaign. After the burglars were caught, the goal was to cover up any connection between them and the re-election committee and then later to impede the investigation of the cover-up.

Haiphong Harbor was where the Soviet Union and Red Chinese, and other communist countries supporting North Vietnam, were unloading their SAM missiles, radar equipment, tanks, ammunition, and other war supplies. Previous presidents were reluctant to kill/wound Soviet/Communist Chinese merchant seaman or technicians (for fear of the Soviet/Chinese entrance into the Vietnam War), but President Nixon was hard core (tough & angry), and at this STAGE OF THE WAR wanted to end it, and MOST PROBABLY made some hints to both the Soviets & Red China that he was going to bomb Haiphong, and they MOST LIKELY believed him; and more than probably, made sure that they (Soviets/Red Chinese) stayed clear of the Harbor when the strikes came. Nixon was also a very experienced diplomat, so he probably knew that there would be little chance of wounding any Soviet/Red Chinese personnel during the strikes, since he also probably knew that THEY KNEW that he MEANT IT!

"Tricky Dick" to US civilians & "B52 Nixon" to some GIs in Vietnam. Of all the US presidents involved with the Viet War (Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, and Ford); it was Nixon who really did try to "...bomb them (N. Vietnam) back into the stone age" (a line coined by USAF GEN Curtis LeMay when discussing North Vietnam).

Nixon had a temper, and spoke directly to the point (he was NOT politically correct), and he used the B52 when ever he wanted to drive home a point (to North Vietnam).

The most intense "maximum effort" B52 bombings were carried out under Nixon's command (accompanied with corresponding B52 losses).
