Well you see it depends on if it is a loud noise or very quiet, and also the pitches if it is a high pitch and very loud they will freak. its quiet with a low pitch it dose not effect them. but it really depends on the rat. most are like this though.

Citrus fruits are better for them, and they love oranges. also they wont get scurvy.

Instead, if you do your research and decide that you are capable of taking good care of a hamster- go to a shelter and adopt one. At my local shelter it was 5$ to adopt my little buddy- please bear in mind that there are many more expenses than the hamster (food, a LARGE and suitable housing arrangement (most sold in pet stores are inhumanely small), etc). Do your research thoroughly and decide if you are commited to doing what it takes to take good care of a hamster (or any animal you may consider as a pet).
