Rodents

All rodents have one upper jaw and one lower jaw set of two continuously growing front teeth that must be worn down by gnawing. The order's smallest members are the 2.4 inch/6 centimeter African pygmy mouse and Baluchistan pygmy jerboa. Questions typically refer to the order's laboratory contributions to scientific advances, important representatives, geographic ranges, and environmental roles in seed dispersion and soil food web life.

How often do you clean a guinea pigs cage?

Spot clean! in the morning, pick up your piggies poo. in the afternoon, pick up your piggies poo. right before you go to bed or after dinner, pick up your piggies poo. do this everyday, and you won't have to do a really big, messy clean of your piggies cage. Or, if you're lazy, then clean your piggies cage completely every other day....

i hope this helped a little bit!

-Noobes

You can do a small spot clean once a day, but fully clean at least once a week. That's a better way to do it. Almost everyone I know does it this way, weather you use bedding or fleece, It's how I was told to do it when I first got my guinea's. I hope I helped you out :)

When a mouse goes outside does it become a rat?

How long do hamsters sleep after a long play?

It depends really, i would say, if it played at night, it would sleep all day.

Can rodents sweat?

Yes, as they have sweat glands. However... smaller body means they don't overheat as much as we higher mammals do... But yes, they do sweat. Dogs also have sweat glands too, I believe [i haven't checked that yet, so don't quote me there], they just don't use them, their minds being wired up to pant, which is a good survival strategy, as an open mouth is an easier one to quickly bite something with later..

However, all of this is conjecture other than rodents having sweat glands. I know that because my hamster had some problems with his before he died... apparently he was getting really badly blocked pores and his sweat glands messed up or something... I dunno, I was terrified of the rodent after he bit me once, so when he died, i don't think i was that sad about it.

Is it possible to cross a mouse with a rat?

No. Rats and mice are a completely differentiated species of rodentia. Firstly, rats fundamentally hate mice and will kill and eat them if they come into contact. Secondly, even when natural breeding is unecessary, numerous laboratory studies have attempted to cross breed rats and mice artificially and have failed using: invitro, embryonic chimera and other fertilization procedures.

Can guinea pigs live indoors if so what do they need?

yes they in fact can live inside the house- unless you have a cat or a dog. Guinea pigs hate dogs and cats because they will eat him if they can get in his cage. Anyway, what they need is

#1 cages: if it is a fat piggie you will need a big cage, if it is a little piggie it can have a medium cage. Make sure the cage is sitting on a strong shelf or table, DONT set it on a ledge or somplace the cage can fall off of.

#2 bedding: once you have your cage set up you need to line the bottom of it with newspaper. Once that's done you need to put some bedding down so your guinea pig can burrow or roll around in. There are lots of beddings to choose from the best and most comfterble are: shreded paper and apple tree wood shavings. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER NEVER USE PINE SHAVINGS OR CEDAR!!!!!!!! mostly because the cedar wood has a strong smell and the guinea pig will think its deathly, and the pine can give him lung cancer.

#3 friends: if its a female guinea pig you might want to give her a nother female guinea pig to play with make sure they get in the cage at the exact same time and that they are the same age! because they will fight if its not done! olso if its a female guinea pig don't give her a male guinea pig!!!!!!! unless you want millions of baby piggies everywhere, visa versa with a male. If it is a male DONT give him another male because they will fight, but if you cant afored another guinea pig they will enjoy your compony very very very much!

#4 exersise: a guinea pig dosent need an exersise wheel like a hamster dose, but it dose need exersize! it can run around in the house but if you don't want it leaving little suprises in you shoe, then put it outside were it can eat grass but make sure you have like a little covered fence or an upside down cage to put over him so he doesn't run off or get picked up by a hawk!

#5 hiding: make sure you put a little house inside its cage so he can sleep in it.

#6 food: feed your guinea pig a heaping tablespoon of guinea pig mix twice a day, if it dosent eat it all that dosent mean hes sick it just means he isn't hungry.

if you want to know what a guinea pig can eat or cant eat or anything else about guinea pigs then serch Google. (or just to the library) :) :) :) DONT FORGET TO CUDDLE IT AND LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Can domestic mice get along with white footed mice?

Yes domestic mice can get along with white footed mice. Typically any mouse can get along with another mouse, even if they're different breeds. Just keep in mind that RATS and MICE DO NOT GET ALONG. The rat(s) will kill and eat the mice. Same with guinea pigs and mice. The guinea pig WILL get attacked by mice and have no defense against them. They cannot use their front paws or teeth. Hope I helped.

:)

What insects get eaten by rats?

rats will eat fly cockroaches moths somtimes but one of there favourite foods are peas corn and carrots

Do guinea pigs live longer when they have a guinea pig friend living with them?

Guinea Pigs Live Longer With Guinea Pig FriendsYes- if a guinea pig doesn't have a friend living with them then there life can be reduced by 3-6 years. Besides living longer guinea pigs will be happier and healthier too. Even if you think that your guinea pig could nto be any happier you will be able to see a difference in you guinea pigs behavior if you add a cage mate to their lives. If you want the best for your guinea pig then add a cage mate for it to play with. If they have a companion then they will be a lot happier and healthier and they will have something to live for.without a friend guinea pigs lives will be shorter and a guinea pig can get depressed and once that happens they will live shorter

A guinea pig friend will give the guinea pig constant stimulation.

Top that with regular excercise- changing up the toys and diet (enrichment) and you will be the proud owner of a happy guinea pig.

and A happy guinea pig will live a longer and happier life!

Guinea Pigs can live 5-8 years alone while the life expectancy is reduced to 3-5 years without a companion

But you have the POWER to change this!

Guineas Pigs are social animals capable of forming pair bonds.

They like to interact with other guinea pigs and people, play with toys and run around- it releases oxytocin and other "happy" brain chemicals.

Guinea pigs need to be stimulated: Imagine sitting in a glass square all day- it's boring. Guinea pigs can become depressed, leading to sedentary behavior, weight gain, loss of interest in activities and an early death.

Even if you could give your guinea pig 24 hour attention it still would not be the same for them if they had another guinea pig to play with.

Answer
