The frame serves the same purpose in a building that your skeleton serves in your body. Imagine what would happen to your body if you had no skeleton; you could not stand erect.

No, no one that jumped would have survived their fall.The jumpers would have hit the concrete below at terminal velocity ( approx 125 mph. ). We would not survive a fall from that height.
