What does a Montgomery ward model UHT J 1944 sewing machine look like?

Having a little trouble describing it in words. I could say something like it looks like a sewing machine and it's mostly white with a black stripe that highlights the stitches that you can select from. I would really like it if I could submit a photo of it. (But I'm not sure how to do that, and if you actually can do that.) Oh, it has 12 different stitches you can select from on a dial. A different dial for tension. The body is make out of plastic, it has a metal piece that you set the material on, and a metal foot. It came with a button hold foot, regular foot, and a foot that you can sew a cord on the material you are sewing. (I don't sew very much so I don't know the technical word for that last foot.) I probably should watch a little more of Sewing with Nancy, just kidding. My mom bought this machine in the 1980's so it kind of looks like any other machine at the time. You really should have a way to download a picture.

How long does it take to make a silk shirt?

How long have you been sewing? To make a perfectly tailored silk shirt takes about 8-12 hours for an intermediate seamstress. Be sure to have silk pins, a small needle, and lots of patience. Use non fusable interfacing because the bonding stuff will ruin the material. Remember to pin, pin, pin! And then pin some more because silk is so very slippery. It might even be best to baste the pieces by hand.

What is the oldest sewing machine?

In 1791 British inventor Thomas Saint was the first to patent a design for a sewing machine. His machine was meant to be used on leather and canvas. A working model was never built. In 1814 an Austrian Tailor, Josef Madersperger, presented his first sewing machine, the development started in 1807. In 1830 a French tailor, Barthelemy Thimmonier, patented a sewing machine that sewed straight seams using chain stitch. By 1841, Thimonnier had a factory of 80 machines sewing uniforms for the French Army. The factory was destroyed by rioting French tailors afraid of losing their livelihood. Thimonnier had no further success with his machine. The lock stitch sewing machine was invented by Walter Hunt in 1833. His machine used an eye-pointed needle (with the eye and the point on the same end) carrying the upper thread and a shuttle carrying the lower thread. The curved needle moved through the fabric horizontally, leaving the loop as it withdrew. The shuttle passed through the loop, interlocking the thread. The feed let the machine down - requiring the machine to be stopped frequently and reset up. Hunt eventually lost interest in his machine and sold it without bothering to patent it. In 1842, John Greenough patented the first sewing machine in the United States.

How many stitches does a baseball have?

Originally, the baseball's peel was two leather 8s that wrap up its stuffing, rather than something that could be melted on. So when pitchers hold the ball in different grips the air will then get to the ball and the stitches forcing the ball to move in different ways. Without the stitching certain pitches wouldn't be able to be thrown.

I have the same model. I'm not sure EXACTLY when it was released, but the owner's manual (I assume the one I have was the original) says it was published in 1984. I hope that helps any-it's the closest I can find. I received mine for Christmas in 1984, so it was probably made that year.
