How is the age of a western field 12 gauge single shot shotgun by Montgomery wards determined?
About the only thing certain is if it has no serial number it was made in 1968 or earlier. If it has a serial number it MAY have been made later, or maybe not. If you have a model number, most can be cross-referenced to the actual manufacturer's model and sometimes this will lead to an approximate (+/- 20 years) date of manufacture.
What is the value of a 12 gauge Sears Roebuck Model 101.100?

What is the age and value of a 1918 12 Gauge?
What other markings are on the gun? We need to know at least the manufacturer or retailer to identify it. If you don't also have a model name or number, describe the action (single shot, pump, double barrel, etc). If it has any value as a collectable, you also need to clearly describe the gun's condition, either using NRA standards or as a percentage of the ORIGINAL finish remaining on both the metal and wood parts.
What is the value of a JC Higgins model 20 12 gauge?
Any where from $50 to $125 depending on condition.
What is the value of a Winchester Model 12 20 gauge shotgun?
At Cabela's a 12 20 Simmons upgrade will cast you $1600 and for a 12 20 Skeet you'l have to fork out $3,499 at Cabella's
The form of the company name you gave indicates a gun made between 1886 and 1915, so parts may not be available. You might check with Numrich Gunparts at the link to the right >>>>, but a competent gunsmith should be able to make a firing pin, especially if you have a broken one for him to copy.
Where can you find the serial number on an Oxford Arms double-barrel shotgun?
OXFORD ARMS CO was a tradename used by Belknap Hardware of Louisville, Kentucky on shotguns made by Crescent Fire Arms Company and by J. Stevens Arms Company. It will not have a serial number as these were not required on firearms sold in the US before 1968.
How old is a J Stevens Arms Company Springfield 22 cal rifle model 87?
The Springfield name was used from 1920 to 1948 but I can't find a listing for a model 87. there are 2 Springfield 87A .22 rifles currently !!/2/05)listed on Auction Arms one is id ed as a Springfield Stevens and the other as a Springfield 87A i own a Wards Western Field model 87 tube fed semi auto .22 that appears to be identical to these two rifles i know it to be at over 50 years old. I also have one and it is dated to 1968

I don't know, but I've got a nice one sn C020710 that I can't seem to find out anything about. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
The "583" indicates a gun made for Sears by either Hi Standard or Harrington & Richardson, but I don't show a direct hit on the "600" part of the number. And to confuse things a bit more, A JC Higgins Model 60 cross-references to a Sears Model 60 - that's almost as helpful as saying a V8 Impala is a V8 Chevy! I can tell you that the JC Higgins name was used for Sears sporting goods from 1908 through 1960. A store-branded shotgun will bring about 2/3 as much as the same gun marked with the manufacturer's name, and a Hi Standard autoloading shotgun will be hard-pressed to bring $300 in top condition.
Answeri have the same gun given to me by my gradfather. we have the same gun numbers and everything/. he told me the gun was bought in the mid 1930s. don't know the price on it.\\The 583.600 was the last of the model 60's and was probably introduced in mid to late 1956. After Novemner 1956, there would be an assembly date code on the barrel. Most cross references for the sears guns made for High Stadanrd are not correct.
This link shows when the gun was offered in the Sears catalog. 1030 iis way tooo early

How can you find the value of a Sears and Roebuck 12 gauge pump shotgun?
Go to Walmart and locate the least expensive 12 gauge pump they are selling today. Figure that your used gun is worth 2/3 to 3/4 as much if it is still in usable condition but not absolutely like new. If your gun is one of the shotguns Winchester made for Sears, it may be worth a bit more than that, but you didn't give a model number to cross-reference.
What is the value of a Browning automatic rifle 308 caliber?

How much is a American gun co double barrel 12 gauge hammer type worth?
The last one I looked at was priced at $85, but it was pretty rusty. Typically bring $150-$250 as mantle decorations.
What is the value of a Springfield Model 15 made by J. Stevens Arms Co?
I have seen Springfield Model 15s sell on the internet for between $60 and $85 dollars. These rifles originally sold for $3.19 in 1938 and into the $14 range by the late 50's. YMMV. Didn't Stevens stop production of this rifle in the early 40's?
You might want to check out Gunbroker.com and see if a similar gun comes up in the listings. That could give you a rough idea of what people are willing to pay. As with most things - it is worth what someone looking for one is willing to pay :-)
Stevens used the Springfield trade name from 1920 until 1948. Utility doubles bring from $150 to $250, depending on condition.
What is the year and value of an Ithaca double barrel 12 gauge shot gun sn 296108?

How do you find value of Excel 410 ga single shot serial 8872?
I have an Excel 410 ga single shot also. The serial Number is lower which should mean that it is an older firearm. I have also tried to find a value for mine with no success yet. Your numbers are not serial numbers, but manufacturer batch numbers and cannot be used to date the guns. This is a store-brand made by Crescent Fire Arms, Crescent-Davis Arms, Iver Johnson, or J. Stevens Arms Co. Value of a single shot would be $35 to $75 for a large guage, but there are fools out there who will pay 2 or 3 times that for a .410 even though they can buy an equivalent new gun for $89.95. I would still like to see if there is a way to date this shotgun. I have no desire to sell it. It belonged to my Father and it was the first firearm I ever used (in 1948). I know that my Father had owned it prior to my using it as a 6 year old just starting to hunt with him. Thanks for any help from anyone to find the manufactured date of this shotgun. Are there any other markings? Sometimes patent dates will give a clue to the actual manufacturer/model and that may be enough to narrow it down to a +/- 10 year range. If it can be positively identified as a Stevens gun, There is a historian who has most of the old factory records and will, for a fee, retrieve whatever information is available for a particular gun. There are no additional markings that I have been able to find. The numbers that I have found are stamped everywhere (on the barrell, behind the trigger guard, on the forend cap, on the stock under the butt plate, etc.). In the Numerich Gun Parts Catalog there is a picture that matches the shotgun that I have. It was manufactured by Iver Johnson (Model Champion). I'm going to send you to another forum at the related link. There are a couple of people who hang out on Shotgun World who know a bit about these. One has written a book on IJ handguns and is researching the shotguns now. I don't think he will be able to give you an exact year, but I know there were minor changes that may give him enough to get you into a fairly short time period. You might have to furnish photos or the exact width of the forearm, number of screws in the receiver, etc. Just ask how to find out the guns age and I'm sure someone will tell you what additional information is required. Thanks! Would that be shotgunworld.com?? I will try that, but if there is another address, please let me know. Thanks again. Actually, I meant to send you to the Arms Collector site but called it Shotgun World instead. It would be good, too. Click on either in the related links on the right side of this page.

What is the value an Iver Johnson Model X 22 cal rifle 1931?
Sir, How did you determan that the model x, 22 was made in 31? My wife has her grandmothers, nice little accurate single shot. Hers has a 22xxx number on it. She would appreciate any info or where to go to find some info on the model x. Thank you John The Model X was only made from 1927 to 1932, and that rifle is close to the end of production so 1931 is a pretty good estimate. These rifles in excellent condition might get $150, but specimens in typical condition usually bring $80-$100. www.countrygunsmith.net
What is the age of a double barrel model 311A?
The 311 series was manufactured from 1941 to 1989. If made after 1968 it WILL have a serial number and if made earlier it MAY (but probably won't) have one. If it was manufactured between March 1949 and December 1968 it will have a circle around a number and letter stamped on the bottom between the triggerguard and the hinge pin. A thru N = 1949 thru 1962, P = 1963, and R thru V = 1964 thru 1968.
What is the age and value of a 38 SW Iver Johnson Viking 67-S pistol serial P7305 in mint condition?
MOST IVER JOHNSON PISTOLS DO NOT FETCH A LOT OF DOUGH! EVEN IN PERFECT SHAPE! THIS MODEL WAS PRODUCED FROM BETWEEN 1958 AND 1975. I BELEIVE YOURS WAS PRODUCED IN 1964. THE REASON THE IVER JOHNSONS ARE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER, IS PURE AND SIMPLE. THEY ARE A GREAT AND ACCURATE GUN. VERY WELL MADE. I HAVE EVERY GAUGE OF THE IVER JOHNSON CHAMPION SHOTGUN AND THE HERCULES AND SKEETER MODELS. I WOULD PUT THEM UP AGAINST ANY REMINGTON OR WINCHESTER THAT WERE MADE. The first course of action to discern the value of a gun is to identify the make, model, manufacturing date, variation and condition. The book "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993" by W. Goforth may help accomplish this. Then it's a simple matter of looking your gun up in one of the many firearm value books, such as the Blue Book of Gun Values, or the Standard Catalog of Firearms.
