I own that very shotgun, the model 21. I purchased a left hand safety for mine in about 1970 from a parts catalog for a High Standard that a friend had puchase. I can't tell you though if the model 20 is the same. The 21 is a variable choke slide action. I have never had a problem with it. Numrich Arms (www.gunpartscorp.com) has a cross reference section- its on the left side of their home page. You can look up a Sears or Western Auto or Montgomery Ward firearm model, and it will give you the maker, and corresponding model of that maker. Sears Model 21 evolved from the model 20. parts lists for comparing various Sears modesl are available at www.histandard.info

I don't know. I have one also, and I am searching right for now for info. Sears did not make any firearms, but retailed firearms made for them under private brand names. Most of the Ted Williams branded guns were actually made by Winchester. If you can provide a model number, which is marked on the gun, we can be more specific. www.countrygunsmith.net

You have a model 520. In excellent condition, it is worth less than $200.

You cant, unless you can identify the rifle correctly. Need to know ALL the markings, barrel length, caliber, etc.

I just paid 100.00 for the same gun from a gun store in philly. I was told that I was given a good price.

Theres alot that gos into the value of a gun . the condition of the gun has alot to do with how much someone will pay for a gun. I payed 300.00 for a over under shotgun make for sears roebuck 2yrs ago it was in fair condition

The Stevens Little Scout came in two varieties -- the Model 14 with a one-piece stock and the later Model 14-1/2 with separate buttstock and forearm. The Model 14 is quite rare and brings $150 on up, depending on condition. The Model 14-1/2 is much more common. Guns in average condition can be found for as little as $100; specimens in excellent condition can carry asking prices as high as $500. A typical gunshow price in 2005 is in the neighborhood of $175 to $275.

The actual value of a gun can change drastically depending on the condition, proven provenance, rarity, and the current market demand. Demand is constantly changing, which means the value is constantly changing. The condition would include the finish and mechanical wear. Even in rough condition, a gun with proven provenance could still be quite valuable. Modern Gun Values or the Gun Trader's Guide are both good sources of information. Current editions of these books can be picked up at common places such as Wal-Mart or Barnes and Nobles.

Western Arms was a division of Ithaca. These guns were manufactured between 1929 and 1946.

The No 26 Crack Shot was built from 1913 to 1939. That version of the company name was not used until 1920, when Stevens became a division of Savage Arms. Regarding a rifle stamped J. Stevens A. T. Co. Pat. 1794: The name J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co, (or A&T Co) was used from 1886 to 1916. That patent date (April 17, '94 is 1894, not 1794) appears on several models. Whichever model you have seen, it must have been made sometime between 1894 and 1916. Without knowing the model and condition, I can't give you a value. It could be $125 for a #12 in poor condition to $2800 for a #54 in excellent condition.

Well i think it might have been made sometime in 1913, send me a picture if u have one . My father has one him self to and i was wondering the price on it. There is no way to find an exact date of manufacture, but "J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY" was the name used after Stevens became a division of Savage Arms in 1920. If you know it is at least 80 years old, that narrows it down to a 4 year period. Hate to confuse you further, but, according to "Stevens Pistols and Pocket Rifles" by Kenneth L. Cope, the markings "J.StevensArms" was used as early as 1886! I have a rather modest collection of antique Stevens firearms. Not a lot more even if in Excellent condition. to whom this may concern My stepdad has one of these shotguns that when bought it came with two barrels one is a 12 and the other is a 20. He has told me that the barrels where 10 and 12 but on my findings it was the other way. On the 20 gauge barrel it says J.Stevens A&T where it was produced and the patent date sept 6 1864 that is stamped big. On the other barrel it is printed very small. I happen to have a Stevens single barrel 12 GA with a known family history going back to the 1913-1915 period when it was first used and it has the marking "J. Stevens Arms Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA" which puts it in the pre-1916 period, so it holds true.

The approximate dates are abt 1886-1916.

In 1920 Stevens started using the "J. Stevens Arms Co." instead of the Stevens Tools and Arms of earlier versions - I think Crackshots were made thru 36 (?) - so I'm assuming yours is a later version - 1920-36.

Eastern Arms Co. was a trade name used by Sears Roebuck. The guns were manufactured by Meriden Firearms, J. Stevens Arms, and others. How do you tell who manufactured the Ranger?

Are you sure there isn't a model number on the right side of the receiver, 5000, 311, 215? There are no serialation lists for Stevens Arms, but with a model number it can usually be narrowed down to a couple of decades. Without one, I can only say it was between 1920 and 1948.

The No. 14 was manufactured from 1906 to 1910. It has a one-piece stock and an 18" barrel. Company name will include the "A&T" or "Arms & Tool". The No. 14 1/2 was manufactured from 1911 to 1941, has a two-piece stock and 20" barrel. Those made from 1911 to 1916 will be marked the same as the No. 14's and those made later will say "J. Stevens Arms Co." Between 1916 and 1920, the factory was owned by New England Westinghouse and used to produce military arms.

my grandmother has a j.stephens little scout 22long-rifle. the date on it is 1907. my grandfather told me that he could buy one for 2 and half dollars in 1907 out of a sears catalougue.

if there is a mark on the left above the trigger "SVG" it was produced by savage who made this Stevens model from the early 20's until it was discontinued in 1932...

H&D Folsom was a large sporting goods retailer and distributor in New York City. They didn't manufacture any firearms, but from 1893 to 1930 they owned Crescent Firearms in Norwich, Ct. They also bought guns from other arms makers, especially Belgian manufacturers. Haven't ran across a W Richardson, but many of the Belgian imports were marked W Richards in an attempt to make buyers think they were getting a product of the English gunmaker, Westley Richards. I'm guessing that you have one of these. It probably has damascus or twist barrels and side hammers. A perfectly good utility gun when made, but after 100 years the barrels will have deteriorated and are probably no longer safe to use, and absolutely should NOT be used with modern ammunition. I bought a Folsom Arms import at auction, highly engraved, with "Rowland Watson" as part of the engraving. It was imported from England with English proof marks. I'd appreciate any information or educated guesses as to what I have. * You might look into this a bit closer. Does it have British or Belgian proofmarks? There is an English gunmaker using the W Richards mark. The Belgian knockoffs with this name are usually junk but these are not. The company now trades as W Richards (Liverpool) Ltd at 10a The Pavement, Pocklington, York, Yorkshire, YO42 2AX; Tel: 01759 305088 Fax: 01759 368559. Some records are available.

First try the local gunsmiths. Check at a few gunshows if there are any in your neighborhood. You might try Numrich Gunparts.

I can't find a Stevens 851 listed in the Blue Book or Standard Catalog. To find out more, see if you can get all the markings on the gun and consider the action (single shot, double barrel, bolt action, etc).

That will depend on what kind of a Springfield Arms rifle it is. The "real" Springfield Arms was founded in 1850, manufactured revolvers that infringed on patents held by Colt, and closed within a year. In the early 1900's, Crescent Arms used the name on a line of inexpensive shotguns. After Savage/Stevens purchased Crescent, the Springfield Arms name was also used on several bolt action and autoloading .22 rifles. The name was discontinued in 1948.

The shotgun is a Mossberg 500. The Standard Catalog lists this at $200 in Very Good condition. Deduct 20-30% for having a Montgomery Ward name stamped on it.
