What is the value of a Sears Model 21 20 gauge in good shape?

If this gun shoots both 2 3/4" and 3" shells, has receiver engraving, ribbed barrel with 2 beads, and variable choke on the end, then it is the Ted Williams version of the Model 21. In good shape, it may be worth $75

Where can you find information on a Stevens Browning 621 12 gauge shotgun?

I found the following in THE GUN DIGEST OF MODERN GUN VALUES: Model 621 was introduced in 1927 and dropped from production in 1953. Slide action; hammerless; 12, 16, and 20 ga. 26" 28" 30" and 32" barrel. Take down; 5 round tube magazine. Cylinder, improved, modified or full chokes. Hand checkered American walnut, pistol grip stock and slide handle; black plastic butt plate. Raised solid matted rib. My edition is older (7th) and places value between $200.00 and $220.00. As with any firearm; value depends on condition and buyer. Don't know the production run, but I'm looking at # 24XXX, (12 ga., 30")

What is a double barrel 20 gauge with external hammers made by Crescent Firearms worth?

Are the hammers on the back of the lock or on the sides? The first is probably a shooter worth $100 - $200 depending on condition. The second is a wall decoration with about the same value.

How do you get information on a Crescent Firearms 20 gauge double barrel shotgun with hammers?

There's not a lot of information available. Crescent was formed in 1892 and purchased by H&D Folsom the following year but operated as a separate company. Much of the Crescent production was sold through Folsom's retail and wholesale operations under a miriad of trade names. In the period from about 1928 to 1932 Crescent and several other arms makers were bought, sold, and merged, and eventually became part of the J. Stevens division of Savage Arms. Stevens apparently continued to produce some guns with the Crescent or Crescent-Davis names for a few years after that. Crescent first used fluid steel barrels in the late 1890's and began production of hammerless guns in 1903, but twist barrels were still used until WWI shut off the import of arms from Belgium and the open hammer designs were probably still being made into the 1930's.

What is the value of a J Stevens 410 break-top single-shot shotgun pistol with a 12 inch barrel and a leather holster?

hi, i have one with a 12 inch barrel, its classified as a hand gun in Ontario, Canada, i paid $150 for mine. i can take it to the range and shoot it, but I'm going to load up some brass cases after i shorten them up.2 1/4 inch i think, Bryan. we can also have the marbles guns registered as hand guns, got 2 of them. I'm in Canada so there just handguns, no special permits needed.

AnswerIt doesn't carry a high value, $300 - $350 in 100% condition according to my Blue Book of Gun Values (2004 edition). However, it can have a very high price - a $250,000 fine and/or 10 years at a federal facility if it is not properly registered. These were manufactured in the 1920's and early 30's but banned by the Gun Control Act of 1934. The BATF is usually pretty lenient if this was found in a deceased grandfather's attic or something, but if they find it in connection with a criminal investigation they can be pretty rough. If you do not have registration papers, go through all of the grandfather's papers and find them. If the registration cannot be found, the usual advice is to separate the barrel from the action and dispose of each in widely separated and very deep lakes. If you can find a friendly gunsmith who is willing to take on the job, it could be "legalized" by making the barrel 18" long (and the overall length over 26") or converting it to a .38 pistol by permanantly inserting a rifled sleeve. You should consult an attorney who is familiar with firearms laws and let him him advise you.

P.S. If it does end up being destroyed or surrendered to the BATF, you can keep all the small parts - everything except the frame and barrel. They would have a value to someone with a registered Stevens No. 35 and the holster would probably bring $100 or more by itself.

AnswerThese guns were classified as short-barreled shotguns by the Gun Control Act of 1934, and are subject to the same regulations as fully-automatic machine guns. If not registered in the 1930's or during an amnesty period in the 1960's, it is illegal to possess the gun - fines up to $250,000 and/or 10-years prison time. If the gun was registered, the registration papers must remain with the gun. Transfers of ownership must be through a licensed Class 3 firearms dealer after payment of a $200 (I think) transfer fee and a thorough background check of the buyer by the ATF. AnswerI'll take one step back. Some of these pistols were made with an 18.5" barrel. If you one of these AND the entire gun is over 26" long, it is NOT classified as a Class 3 weapon by the ATF. AnswerI've got one of these. It is classified under the National Firearms Act as an "any other weapon" and requires registration with ATF to legally possess it. It is impossible to register an unregistered example. A registered example can be transfered for $5. For information on how go to subguns

For my excellent condition regsitered version I paid I think $500 two years ago, and its the only one I've ever seen.

AnswerI paid $200.00 for one in very nice condition about two years ago. . AnswerDate is definitely prior to 1933. That year you had a choice of registering these short-barreled shotguns or turning them in. If you missed that date, there was an amnesty period in 1968. If it is still not registered, I doubt if you will ever get another chance to make it legal. If you do not have the registration papers, consult an attorney who is familiar with firearms laws. Assuming that you are in the US, the penalty for possession can be 10 years at a federal facility and/or a $250,000 fine. A properly registered Stevens shot pistol is only listed for about $300 in my price guides, but I would expect it would bring more from someone who is willing to go through the hassle of getting approval for a transfer from the BATF, especially if it is truly in NRA Excellent condition. AnswerI have 2 of these great guns and they're both registered with the Fed Gov in Washington DC Now what are they worth??? ALL you can get for them.. Mine are NOT for sale.. AnswerIt's not worth a whole lot. $2-300 according to the price guides. However, that assumes you are in the US and have the correct BATF paperwork. Most of these have barrels less than 18 inches long and are classified as a "short barreled shotgun". The penalty for possession of an unregistered gun is the same as that for having a fully automatic machine gun, a fine in six digits and a 10 year stretch in a federal facility. "Innocent possession", meaning you found it in your deceased uncle's attic, will only result in confiscation of the firearm, but if it is found by the authorities while they are investigating you for some other matter, they may get rough. If you do not have the paperwork, I would search that uncle's house from top to bottom for some official-looking documents from the BATF. If you find the registration, you should probably have an attorney who is familiar with firearms law handle the process of getting it transferred to your name. If you don't have a squeaky-clean record, you may have to let it go to another relative. If you can't locate the paperwork, I've often heard the advice of "separate the frame from the barrel and dispose of each in widely separated deep bodies of water." That's a viable option, but I don't recommend it. You should contact an attorney and let him negotiate with the BATF. They MAY find their copy of the records, but that is unlikely and I suspect they won't look too hard. If you can prove your gun was manufactured prior to 1899and it is chambered for one of the obsolete shot shells (38-40 or 44-40) instead of .410, you may get it exempted as an antique. If not, you should be able to surrender only the frame and barrel, saving all the other parts to sell to someone who owns a legally registered pocket shotgun. Of course, if your barrel is a full 18 inches long and the overall length of the gun is 26 inches, the gun is legal.

Answer OP is in Canada, and the US advice does not apply. Even if you're in the US, any SOT FFL can make a short shotgun and register it, but there will be a $200 transfer fee to return it.

They're not worth a tremendous amount. Several people have commented with estimates.

Question

I have a 72+ year old neighbor who's husband passed away 2 years ago at the age of 80. She found some guns of his and wanted me to check on the value so she could sale them. In my research of the Steven's 410 Pistol/shotgun I found your website. What should I suggest for her to do with this gun?

Answer You should probably start a new topic. However, if it's a shotgun, it can be sold. A short barreled shotgun (under 18" barrel, 26" overall) would need to be registered with ATF. If it was not done so by her husband, best would be to dismount and destroy the barrel. There's no need to destroy the receiver. It's perfectly legal without a barrel, and replacement barrels are available.

What is the year and value of a Stevens accompanied by Savage Arms 410 Model 59B shotgun?

What is the value of a 20 gauge Stevens 58-D?

What would a Springfield double barrel shotgun manufactured pre 1950 be worth?

I also own springfield however it is a 5100. Now does savage, Stevens, or springfield make this sxs it is a little confusing, because there seems to be a few mft dates 1915 and post ww11 1950? help

AnswerThere are several different models of Springfield doubles, but they are all pretty much the same guns. Any utility double barrel in working condition is worth $150-$250. Less if it is a basket case and more if it is truly like new or 20 gauge or smaller. There is currently a Springfield Inc. and of course there was the US Springfield Armory, but neither of these had anything to do with Springfield shotguns. It was a trade name used first by Crescent probably as early as 1910. Stevens was bought by Savage in the 1920's and continued to make the Stevens tradenames as a semi-independent subsidiary. In the early 30's the Stevens division of Savage bought Crescent and several other small manufacturers and began making most of the Crescent trade names, too. The Springfield name was discontinued in 1948.

What is the age and value of a 20 gauge J Stevens Arms Company Model 238A bolt action shotgun with a three shot clip?

It was manufactured from 1936 to 1945. According to the Standard Catalog, retail value should be $50 in NRA Good condition and $75 in Excellent.

I have an old sxs hunter arms 'the folton' 16 gauge can anyone tell me anything about it. it is very good cond. thank you?

Hunter Arms Co was the maker of the famous LC Smith shotguns in Fulton, NY, from 1890-1945. The company began as Hunter & Comstock Arms Co in 1888 and was acquired by Marlin Firearms in 1945. "Hunter", "The Hunter", and "Nitro Hunter" were used as trade names by lower quality manufacturers.

The Hunter Arms Co. of Fulton, NY introduced the 'Fulton' in 1915 as a less expensive version of the L. C. Smith, a side lock style side by side double barrel. The 'Fulton' was a box lock style side by side double.

In what year was Nitro Hunter serial number 55664 made?

Nitro in the name would imply smokeless powder, so the earliest would be shortly after 1900. Could have been as recent as 1945.

What year was a 410 shotgun trademark Electric City SN a474997 made Your granddad bought it when he moved from west Kansas in the late 1800s to early 1900s?

Scranton, PA adopted the nickname "The Electric City" shortly after 1886. It was the practice of the time for makers to mark their guns with the trade name requested by major buyers so the name means very little except to indicate it was made for the Scranton market area after 1886. A major clue to the date of manufacture would be the chamber length. This may be marked on the outside of the barrel. If it is not, it may be measured with a chamber gauge or by measuring the distance a .473" diameter rod may be inserted into the chamber. If unmarked, it may not be a .410 at all, but one of several .44 shot cartridges which evolved into the .410. If marked as .410 without a length indicated, the chamber may well be 2". That would place the gun in the earlier part of our time frame. If the chamber is for 2 1/2" shells, it would have been made well after 1900. It would be extremely dangerous to fire an 2 1/2" shell in a 2" chamber.

What is the value of a Stevens 311E 16 ga SxS double barrel in very good condition?

I just paid $375 plus 71/2 % sales tax for one in NRA very good condition. It was probably never used; still had original Stevens sales tag on it.

How can you find the age and value of a Savage Model 660 shotgun shell reloader?

I have a Savage Model 630 Shotshell Reloading Press. There are no serial numbers to identify when it may have been made. While I do not remember what I paid for it, nor exactly when, I DO have a letter from Savage Arms dated May 21,1969, addressed to me while I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The letter is responding to my inquiry regarding loading charts and guage conversion kits for the Model 630, so I probably bought my press earlier that year. I can tell you from the 1969 parts price list, that it would have cost $78.50 to rebuild the Model 630 from parts back then, so the new press probably ran about $50.00 - $70.00 retail. What it might be worth today depends solely on condition, and what someone is willing to pay. I have recently seen it on auction for a starting bid of $75.00, with no bidders. For more information, have you tried to contact Savage Arms in Westfield, Massachusetts ??

What does 'full gauge' mean on a J Stevens Tool Co double barrel hammer boxlock shotgun?

Are you leaving out some of the markings? If the Stevens name has the Tool Co part, it should say J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. The "full" indicates that it has a tight choke to hold the shot in a closer pattern over a longer distance. The "gauge" should be preceded by a number (probably 12, 16, or 20) and indicates the correct size ammunition for the gun.

What is the value of a side by side twelve gauge shotgun made by N R Davis Co?

I recently came across an early 1900's model 12 gauge NR Davis and Sons on an auction site that needed repair to include a complete butt stock. It was priced at $220.00. .

What is the value of a J Stevens 24 gauge single shot in VG condition Also approximatly when were they made?

Most single shots are worth something less than the $90 needed to buy a brand new one. If it's really a 24 gauge, you have an odd-ball that might bring a few dollars more from a collector who really wants one of every possible size, but still probably would not break the $100 mark. 24 gauge guns were still listed in Stevens' 1936-37 catalog. The approximate age of a Stevens gun can be determined by the way the company name is marked. 1864 - J. Stevens & Co. 1886 - J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. 1916 - No Stevens guns were produced 1920 - J. Stevens Arms Co. 1948 - Stevens (usually accompanied by the Savage name) 1990 - Savage Arms discontinued the Stevens trademark. you could check auction arms or gun broker to see what they sell for

What is the value of a Savage model 1899 22-HP with a 19 inch barrel?

Are you talking about the Savage model 99 High power center fire 22? I have one and have been unable to find any info what so ever on this rifle with the exception of your post. I have no info on the model 99 HP 22 value but it would seem that it is a rare rifle which would dictate a high value imop...... Found it. Page 1284 of the Blue Book. Model 99E was chambered for the .22 HP. Manufactured from 1922 to 1934. Adding a 15% premium for the .22HP, a gun in good 60% condition would be $230 and one 100% factory-new $605.
