What is the value of a Remington 410 Gauge Shotgun Model 1148?
It all depends on the condition. These are pretty old (not the best design) Thus the Remington 1100 came along. If it's a 3" chamber and in decent condition, I would pay $200.00 . The 1100 is much more sought after. Terry
$50 to $100 depending on condition.
Is there any way to find out what year a J Stevens 410 single shot break-over shot gun was made?
If you would be satisfied with a date within 10 years more or less, post all the markings exactly as they are written on the gun. If you need an exact date, go to the Savage Arms website and get the address of the Stevens Historian. If you send him $15 and the serial number, he may be able to tell you.
How would you find out how old a shotgun is?
Cut it down and count the rings. No, wait! That's for a tree. Try this: Start with all the information that is printed on the gun. There should be a manufacturer's name or trade name on it. It may also have a model number, serial number, or proof marks. Take all this information to the library and find Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Arms, Gun Trader's Guide, and The Blue Book of Gun Values. Look through these books and all the others on the nearby shelves until you find your gun. You may be able to find an exact year of manufacture if it is by one of the major makers, but most likely you will have to settle for an approximate date based on the dates the manufacturer was in business or made a certain model.
Shotguns marked T Parker Royal Damascus were made by Henri Pieper, Leige, Belgium, prior to 1893. Pieper would mark guns with whatever trade name the retailer wanted. The T Parker name was sold by Sears Roebuck and possibly other retailers. Wilmot Gun Company was another trade name manufactured by Pieper. So, it's the same reason that Buicks are not marked Chevrolet - some models may be 99% identical, but they are marketed as different cars.
How would you find the value of a White Powder Wonder Shotgun?
WWhite Powder Wonders was a trade name and were manufactured by Stevens. The value would be that of a shooter. Comparable to the value of other shooters made for western Auto and Sears White Powder Wonder: Trade name used by Albert Aubrey of Meriden, Connecticut on shotguns made for the Sears, Roebuck and Company of Chicago. http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/cross_reference.html
When was an Iver Johnson made?
The company existed with that name from 1871 to 1987. A great source of information on Iver Johnson firearms is the book by W.E. Goforth titled, "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993".
What is the value of a 410 Iver Johnson shotgun?
Well, it's going to depend a lot of exactly what type shotgun it is, but the most common IJ is a break-open single shot. Most utility singles go for $35 to $70, but since you have a 410, there are people out there who will pay $150 - $200 for an old used one when they could buy a new one for $90.
Sears Roebuck owned the Eastern Arms tradename. Before 1905 they were probably made by Fyrberg Firearms. In 05 Sears bought Fyrberg and established Meriden Firearms Co to manufacture firearms for their retail outlets. In 1915 Stevens bought Meriden and began manufacturing most of the Sears tradenamed long guns, but a revolver would more likely be from Iver Johnson. The plating is probably nickel, not chrome. If it hasn't had much use and hasn't been allowed to rust, it should still be useable but have it checked by an experienced gunsmith before you try it. You might also need a gunsmith to determine exactly which .32 round is appropriate. S&W and Colt each had their own proprietory .32 short and .32 long cartridges which were not interchangeable and it is also possible that the gun is chambered for a .32 rimfire. If it is a rimfire, ammunition is no longer being manufactured. It would have been an inexpensive gun when made and not worth much more in the condition most of these are found today. Have seen similar guns go as low as $25 and, if still like new with the box, as high as $200.

How old is a double barrel J Stevens Model 355?
It is difficult to date these accurately. That model appeared in Stevens 1912 catalog, but I am not sure when it was discontinued. Best guess would be no later than the early 1930's when Stevens was absorbed by Savage Arms. www.countrygunsmith.net I do know the Patent date for this shot gun was march 19-1907 i own one anymore info will be added later I'm going to have to write Mr. Fjestad a nasty letter. There are two entries in the Blue Book's Savage/Stevens production dates for model 335 and none for the 355. My best guess is that the 1912-1931 entry should be for the 355.
Is that the serial # or model #? I have one marker 19HF on all separate parts. My thought was that is the model. But my other id # is 5000, so what are the odds we have the sane gun model 1oo units apart?... Value is $150-$250 depending on condition. Less if it is broken or rusted and a little more if like-new. The 5000 and 5100 are not serial numbers. I'll bet my JC Higgins 16 gauge looks just like your guns and it is also numbered 5100. Stevens introduced the Model 5000 (in 1923 or 26, depending on which reference you believe), changed the model number to 5100 in 1931, and then to 311 in 1941. This gun was manufactured until 1989. The Springfield name was discontinued in 1948.
When were Hercules double barrel shotguns made?
The guns Hercules guns made by Stevens and sold by Wards were made around 1910 to 1940
What is the age and value of a 20 gauge Sears and Roebuck JC Higgins Model 563.22 bolt action?
It was most likely built by Harrington and Richardson for sears from 1945-1955. It should fetch from $60-$100 depending on condition.
This won't be anything considered a collectable, so it will have only its utility value and a new single shot .410 costs less than $100 at WalMart. Figure a second hand one will be $35 in poor shape or $75 if nearly-new.
