There is a wealth of information by Nick Niles in the Gun Digest book of Guns and Prices 2005 Edition, ISBN #0-89689-324-3 and library of congress # 2005906853

The value varies widely with condition and gauge. I think that prior to 1912 only 12 gauge sterlingworths were made. The 20s (and 16s)began production in 1912 or 1913. Usually the earlier ones are worth a little more than later (after about 1930) ones. A 12 gauge from the early years in near-mint condition would be worth around $2000, an average 12 would be in the $1000 range and one in poor shape (broken stock, pitted barrels, dents in barrels, etc) ordinarily would be worth more like $400 to $500. Twenty gauge prices corresponding to these would be about $3000, $2000 and $1000.

Probably somewhere between $50 and $100, depending on condition. Even less if it is rusty, broken and unusable. Maybe more if it is still in straight-from-the-factory new condition.

Like any other gun the it depends on condition. The value can range from $50 to $200. If it is almost mint with the original box, then it could go higher.

I might disagree about the quality. It's been durable and dependable since day one. Shooting Super X 3" slugs it's dead-on at 50 yards.

After searching this site for the same Q&A ( I own an American Arms New York 12Gauge) I think its safe to say that these guns dont hold any great monetary value, 150-250 dollars, but they are a great part of our American Heritage and should be treated as so.

There were 3 models of the IJ revolver, and in each different model, the s/n was repeated, so that without seeing the gun and identifying its variation, we cannot know if it is 1st Model, 2nd Model, or 3rd Model. Additionally, the later IJs wer prefixed with a letter, so yours must be an early one. A publication entitled Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993 has a list of most serial #'s with dates of production, published by Gun Show Books Publishing. There were three main models of Iver Johnson "Safety" topbreak revolvers. 1st & 2nd Model revolvers were built for black powder cartridges only. Continued use of higher pressure smokeless in these revolvers will result in them shooting loose, getting out of time, and parts breakage. The 3rd Model was especially beefed-up, redesigned, and "fortified" for use with smokeless powder and is fine for modern factory ammo. Alas, only 1st (all) & 2nd (some) Model revolvers fall into the legal Antique category. 1st Model (1894-1896): SINGLE-POST top latch; leaf springs; cylinder "free-wheeling" when at rest 2nd Model (1897-1908): DOUBLE-POST top latch; leaf springs; cylinder "free-wheeling" when at rest 3rd Model (1909-1941): DOUBLE-POST top latch; COIL springs; cylinder locked when at rest If you've determined, from the above characteristics, that you have a 2nd Model IJ revolver, here's how to determine whether it was made before 1899 (and thus a legal antique) or not. Fortunately, Iver Johnson built revolvers by the "batch" system, and only changed & upgraded their guns once a year, so it is quite easy to determine whether an IJ is antique or not, just by cursory examination. In only * one* case (.32 small frame *hammer* model) does the serial number need to be checked. In other cases, you can "tell at a glance" once you know what to look for. Pre-1899 2nd Model guns will exhibit the following characteristics: Large frame (.38) HAMMERLESS: Separate hammer shroud on frame (shroud not integral with frame) Small Frame (.32) HAMMERLESS: Separate hammer shroud on frame (shroud not integral with frame) Note: Integral frame w/shroud introduced start of 1899 production Large frame (.38) hammer: Patent dates on top rib of BARREL Small Frame (.32) hammer: Patent dates on top rib of BARREL, *AND* must check serial number prefix (left side of grip strap underneath grip - yes, you must remove the grips for this one): A = 1897; E = 1898; F = 1899. The easy way to remember: If it has an 'F' it FLUNKS the Antique Test. Note 1: Patent dates moved from top rib of barrel at start of 1899 production. Note 2: All .22 rimfire IJ topbreak revolvers are post-1898 (The .22 chambering began in 1901).

think if someone asked you what is my 'ford' worth?? You would ask a number of questions...... In your case is it a rifle or carbine ? what is the condition of metal, wood, bore. what is serial number. Is it a 50/70 cal (early conversion) or 45/70 later model...........today the trapdoor can bring anywhere from $400 to $1500, depending...

Is "fin fire" a typo for "pin-fire"? If so, I'm certain that it is not a Crescent shotgun and even more confident that it was never used by Wells Fargo Co. I would guess that someone tried to increase the selling price of an inexpensive double by adding the Wells Fargo stamp and a saddle ring. Have the barrels been cut off, too? There are so many shotguns with fake WF Co markings that no informed collector will pay any premium for this mark unless it is accompanied by a bill of sale listing the stage company as the buyer or seller and positivly identifying the gun. It would probably sell for $150-$250 as a wall decoration for a yuppie's rec room.

I believe that this rifle is part of the J.Stevens Model 87 family. Depending on condition, the value is between $50 and $150. See 29th (2008) Edition of "Blue Book of Gun Values", page 1702.

The Crackshot in .32 is often worth less than the .22 because of unavailability of ammo. But some collectors want the bigger bore. The Model 26 Crackshot will bring from $75 to about $225, depending on condition. Usual on-line auction price is in the $140-$170 range.
