I have been looking at XL900's for 12 years now and I have found out that in the last 5 years they are getting harder to find for sale. It all depends on the condition. I have bought some Ithaca XL900's for $200.00 and I have had to pay $900.00 for some of them. Condition means alot. The gas-operated seems to be what everyone is looking for. The only date listed for the Stevens 94 in the Blue Book was 1929 The chart in the back of the Blue Book says 934,000 model 94's were made between 1926 and 1945. I don't know what was different about the A series or if the 94 was discontinued when the 94-A was introduced, but I'd wager it is some cosmetic difference that they could charge an extra dollar for and both were made during the same period.

The White Powder Wonder was made for Sears Roebuck by several manufacturers. Take your pick: * Crescent Fire Arms Co * W. H. Davenport Arms Co. * Meriden Fire Arms Co. * J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. Value for a single shot is $35 to $75 unless it is just like it came from the factory or a basket case.

Easiest way to get a quick idea of how much your gun is worth is get on www.gunbroker.com, its like the eBay of guns. Then obviously put in the model of rifle and find out what they are going for. A rifle as you talk about would probably be worth 700-1000 dollars in my opinion depending on how the condition and finish is.

Are you sure it's a 940 and not 94-C? According to the Blue Book, Model 94's were made from 1926 to 1945. If you really need to know more exactly when it was made, you can get the Stevens historian's address from the Savage Arms website and send him $15.

Sears trade name is strike one. Bolt action is strike two. Value will start around $25 and may go as high as $100 if it is like new.

A utility double barrel 12 gauge shotgun that is fully functional will sell for $150 to $250, depending on condition.

Eastern Arms was a brand name sold by Sears Roebuck. The Model 1929 suggests that it was made by J. Stevens Arms Co.

Sears thought of a catch phrase for his name since he didn't have a middle initial they added a "C" with his permission hinse The brand Name "JC HIGGINS" I have a model 20 12 GUAGE pump with the interchangeable 3 choke set. You can get an approximate date from the way the company name is marked on the gun. * J. Stevens and Company = 1864 to 1886. * J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co = 1886 to 1916. * J. Stevens Arms Co = 1920 to about 1948. * Stevens (or Savage/Stevens) = about 1948 to 1991 or after 1999. * No Stevens guns were made 1917-1919 or 1992-98. Also, any double barrel shotgun with the Stevens brands made from 1949 to 1968 is marked with a number and letter in a small circle on the bottom of the frame. A thru N = 1949 thru 1962, P = 1963, R thru V = 1964 thru 1968. If you need more information, you can contact Savage Arms on the web (savagearms.com I think) for information about newer guns. i was on the internet looking for the same information because i have one as well, and nobody really has any information. some people have told me they don't exist and i am holding one this moment. any info would be great- d.s. Newport was a trade name distributed by Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co of Chicago. The double barrels were made by Crescent Firearms Co from about 1900 to 1930. After Crescent was bought by J. Stevens Arms that company continued manufacturing them.

That would be a Stevens 94B sold by Sears Roebuck.

Colt did make a 16 gauge model 1839 revolving percussion shotgun and if the poster should happen to have one, I'd like to talk him out of it. There is a Colt 16 Ga. pump shot gun listed on gunbroker.com. Going for around $250,apparently made in France, and around 2,000 made in 12, 16, & 20 gauges.

There's not much information available. Crescent made several million single and double barrel shotguns from 1883 to 1930. They marked them with at least 200 different trade names, Victor being one of the more common ones. Singles usually sell between $25 and $75, depending on condition, but they were only $3-$10 when they were new.

Currently they are bringing between $200 - $400 depending on the condition.

This was a trade name used by Anciens Etablissments Pieper in Belgium 1894 and later. Importing utility shotguns from Belgium pretty much ended when WWI started in 1914. Making any exposed hammer double barrel shotguns pretty much ended about the same time. This gun may have short (2 9/16") chambers and damascus barrels, and if so it will not be safe to use modern off-the-shelf ammunition. Value is primarily determined by how well it looks over a yuppie's fireplace, usually between $150 and $250.

I once owned a Savage Fox 12 gauge double. I think it was a "B". It had a rather broad forearm, raised rib and a rear bead. A fox's head was engraved on the bottom in front of the trigger guard. I think I paid about $300.00 for it (used of course).Best shotgun I ever had - but It was destroyed in a fire over 17 years ago. Hope this helps.

I think the 2259397 Savage Over/Under is about 55 years old. I too would like to know for sure. it is a 22-410 and belonged to a deceased cousin of mine. Yes, it's worth something. These were among the best of the American made double barrel shotguns. Even beat-up and broken it could have significant value as parts. You need to take your question to a board where real experts hang out. I'd suggest the shotgun page at AntiqueGuns.com (see related link on the right). Be prepared to describe the gun completely. List any marks found on the barrel and action, including those only visible when the gun is broken down, any engraving or inlays and the amount of original finish remaining. Posting pictures will help, too.

Wow!!! How so envious I am. I have no idea what that might be "worth" as far as auction value. I have an original Hillerich and Bradsby Louisville Slugger bat signed in blue sharpie (Green Diamond authenticated) by the Splendid Splinter himself, and that's worth around $2,000 give or take. Man, being a huge Red Sox/Ted Williams fan, AND a huge Winchester fan, that would be a crown jewel nominee for my collection!!! Congrats on such an awesome piece. There was no Ted Williams commermorative model 94 although Sears did sell a line of Ted Williams marked guns in the 50's and 60's, made by Winchester or Marlin, depending on who gave Sears the best deal. The Sears marked Winchesters tend to have a lower value than the Winchester marked equivalents.

If you have a rifle that is signed by Ted Williams then the above answer stands. There are Ted Williams collectors out there who would pay whatever the market bears for the piece. The value is not established and strictly negotiable.
