How fast do you go when skiing?
My GUESS is they can reach up to 80 mph and very
possibly even faster. If I find the answer, I will try and get back here to post it.
After further research, I have found two sources both quoting fastest
downhill speeds at 40 to 50 mph. So I was wrong about 80 mph +
But this still may not be absolutely correct.

I finally discovered that speed skiers in sporting events
can reach over 150 mph!
But I suppose average skiers on normal ski slopes usually
don't top 50 mph.

Just off the slopes and I have a speedometer app for my blackberry. It is fairly accurate.
I topped out at 68 km.h or about 42mph (I am an upper intermediate and the hill is not the highest so I am sure I could push it a bit higher.) I bet 50 is doable.
The pros on the big Downhill like Bode Miller hit 140 km/h
What is the difference between snow pants and ski pants?
snow pants are made more for sledding or snowmobiling. They are waterproof and insulated to keep snow from seeping in and usually have elastic at the bottom. Ski pants are also waterproof and insulated as well but have added features for skiing. Some features my be extra pockets, extra stitching for more wear and tear, gusset legs and ski pass ring.
T Bar
That is a kind of ski lift. You often hear it being called a chair lift but this name does not apply to magic carpets, platter lifts or t bars, so the best name would be simply a lift, as this applies to all types of ski lifts.

In skiing if you put weight on your left leg which way would you turn?
There are some main types of Ski turns, the Stem turn, the Stem Christie and the Parallel turn.
Stem Turn
This is the turn first learned when beginning to ski.
Going slowly downhill, with your skis in the 'Pizza', or 'Snow Plow', position, simply start putting more weight on the inside edge of one of your skis. To turn left, you put more weight on the inside edge of your right edge. This will cause your right side to go down the hill more than your left, resulting in a basic turn, maintaining the V or Plow ski position.
To turn back the other way, repeat.
Stem Christie (Stem/ Parallel)
When learning how to do parallel turns, you will first do a combination of the two. You can start with your skis parallel, but to initiate your turn, you make a V, as in the Stem turn, with more weight on the bottom foot. Once you are nearing the end of your turn, you bring (either sliding or physically lifting it) your top foot parallel with your bottom foot, so you are skiing parallel again. Eventually you can reduce the amount of 'V' used in a turn, through practice, until you are making true parallel turns.
Parallel Turns
This is achieved through practice, and basically involves keeping your skis parallel throughout your turn. This can be done in two ways.
Old School: Keeping your weight more to the back of your skis, you transfer your weight to the inside of your ski edge. This will cause both of your skis to slide in one direction, together. You can also do this by jumping, lifting your skis into a sideways position while in the air, so you land sideways, effectively 'turning'.
Carving: Doing a carving turn involves utilizing the side-cut of your skis, and can only be done on a 'carving' (all modern skis are carving skis) ski. Instead of leaning back, and letting the ski slide, you put the weight on the front inside edges of your skis. As these edges grip the snow, the skis will make the turn on their own, as long as you have your weight on the edges, or front 'shovel' of the skis. The size of the turn will depend on technique, and the skis turn 'radius'.
Most intermediate to good skiiers will be using a combination of the Old School turn and Carving, until they are confident enough to really use their weight and skis to carve properly.
I use universal, especially if 1) I am unsure of the conditions, 2) conditions will change dramatically during the day 3) in general, because it will be unaffected by conditions.
What are the skiing competitions?
Downhill skiing consists of four main events which include Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super Giant Slalom, and Downhill. The different between these events is the placement of the gates. You also wear different gear and use different length skis for each event. Slalom - This event is when the ski gates are the closest together. Ski racers quickly navigate through the ski course. The ski gates "breakaway" as the ski racer hits them with their shin and/or arm as they ski by them. The reason ski racers hit the ski gates is to try to ski the straightest line possible down the ski slope. The straighter the line, the faster you go and the faster your run time. Ski racers bring the tip of their ski close to the ski gate and sometimes catch their ski tip and spin out. Ski racers were shin, arm, and hand guards plus a protective helmet. Giant Slalom has the gates farther apart then slalom. Ski racers do not hit the gates like they do in slalom. Therefore, they tend to wear less guards. However, a helmet is still required. Super Giant Slalom and the Downhill, in addition to Slalom and Giant Slalom, are usually done in professional ski racing or at Junior Olympic ski races for aspiring professional ski racers. The length of skis varies from year to year. Typically, though, slalom requires a much shorter ski then giant slalom. Super Giant Slalom and the Downhill require longer skis. Ski racers usually wear skin tight "GS" suits in a range of wild colors. I know because I used to compete in downhill ski racing.
Like every sport it has it's risks. I have been a snowboarder for the last four years and i consider myself to be quite a good rider. I was working at Perisher resort in Australia this season, just ended. On my second day of riding as i was skating into a lift que i stepped onto my mates board as he slid forwards. This resulted in me tearing my Anterior Cruciate Ligament and my medial meniscus in my right knee, before i'd even got on a run. This is not the most common snowboarding injury however, this is more of a ski-ing injury. The most common snowboarding injuries would be broken wrists, dislocated shoulders (with possibly tearing of ligaments and tendons, i have dislocated my left shoulder) and back problems from falling on your arse. Available to buy are wrist guards and behind pads (which I'd bought one as a beginner, ouch!). Riding within your ability is important, don't do anything stupid. Also knowing how to fall softly helps. When it comes down to it you can still get unlucky. However it is an amazing sport and i will be back next year, if my knee is up to it.
How long would it take to learn snow skiing?
Most children have the ability to learn how to downhill ski in a matter of hours. My little brother had no experience of skiing. He took a 2 hour lesson and was going down the hill like he had 5 years of experience. Just take your child to a ski mountain and ask for lessons they usually cost 120 $.
Camping is an outdoor recreational activity that involves sleeping several nights outside in either a tent, caravan, motorhome or sometimes no shelter.
Camping is meant to be a way for anyone and everyone to get back to the basics and enjoy all that nature has to offer. Camping, unlike other holidays, does not cater to those who are better off financially. Camping is a recreational activity that anyone, no matter their circumstances, can enjoy.
Oddly enough, camping by yourself or with family can be one of the best ways to spend your time. Somehow it clears your mind and body and will bring you closer to the beauty and simplicity that is outdoors. Many people also find the time spent camping also brings you closer to those you love.
Yes, there may be insects that get on your nerves and yes you will get dirt under your finger nails, but there is nothing quite like camping in the great outdoors.
If you haven't tried camping I strongly recommend you try it soon. Otherwise you'll miss out on something great!

Why do skiers wear sunglasses while skiing?
Have you ever been skiing and fallen, crashed, or "had a yard sale" as they typically call it in downhill ski racing? It can hurt. Downhill ski racers can reach alarming speeds and need protective between their bodies and the hard, ice and snow beneath them. Ski racers have always been known to be a little crazy, which is true because they can fall so hard that their skis break in half!
Downhill ski racers wear helmets because concussions used to be a common occurence. A ski racer might catch a tip on a ski gate and fall head first down the hill. You pick up speed when you are sliding down the steep hill of ice and sometimes crash into other people, equipments, and trees. Yes, it is crazy!
If you don't wear a helmet you also risk scratching up and bruising your face on the ski gates, your skis, ski poles, and the ski hill itself. It can be a mess. So downhill ski racers wear a helmet to protect their noggin!
So they don't become a dumb a like you ,,....,,,..,.
Yes, it is possible to ski on turf with standard ski equipment. In fact, there are multiple turf ski areas open in the United States which allow you to ski year round. To ski on turf the turf must be wet or lubricated with a liquid such as dish soap. Although turf is often not as fast as snow, it simulates skiing on snow quite well.
ANSWER:
Yes! As it defines, a short ski with rollers on the bottom that can be used to ski down a grassy slop.

No. The biggest difference is alpine skiing goes down the side of a mountain while cross country skiing is mainly on flat land that has a few small hills.
In skiing what is a straight fast run?
No twists or turns are involved, and speed can be reached and maintained
History of extreme jet skiing?
Extreme skiing is performed on steep slopes in mountain regions. Sylvain Saudan made the first descents down slopes in the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. Saudan's first attempt at extreme jet skiing occurred in America at Mt. Hood in March 3, 1971.
Alpine skiing is a sport where you travel to a mountain that has snow and you use specialised hard boots, called ski boots, which attach to skis, long planks of wood, carbon or various other materials, by bindings. You slide down the snow covered hill on your skis. If you want to learn how to ski, I would highly recommend taking lessons. There is a whole technique to skiing properly and if you learn correctly, you are much less likely to hurt yourself or other people.
