there could be many reasons, but you need to elaborate on your question, that is too vauge to answer... is it a snowmobile? is it an atv? are the spark plugs clean? is fuel flowing to the carb? does it backfire?

I was told it was in the 70 range, about 10 were 100 D's which had a headlight. This number seems low to me! I own a 63 Model 100 and would love to know for sure. This info was provided by my local Cat dealer.

Yes snowmobiles run on gas. There might be a suggested octane the manufacture recommends that you put in the sled, you will find this if you look around where the gas cap is. But you can run any kind of gas in your sled, the only thing is if you run less octane then your supposed to it might effect the performance a little but not a lot. You will just loose a little power.

You do not lubricate a clutch - You clean it. If you lubricate it will slip and it will collect dust and dirt from the belt and it will bung it up..

If it is a Powervalved SRX, not an SXR, 135-140 is a safe bet, depending on your jetting and other carb settings.

Two stroke oil, mineral based, I recomend using the oil from Skidoo.

The answer varies a lot depending on where people ride. In the east and midwest there is a lot more trail riding so they tend to have a lot more miles. In the west it is more mountain riding so miles are generally much lower. A typical season in the west may be around 1,000 miles. Of course, just like cars this number would vary widely with some people putting on several thousands. In the east/midwest the mileage may be about double.

Under the hood below the headlight is a black plastic assembly. There is one plastic wing nut. This is the adjuster for the headlight.

340cc average 50-55, 440ccF 50-70, 440cc LC 65-75, 500ccF 70-80, 500ccLC 70-90, 600ccLC 90-110, 700ccLC 100-120, 800ccLC 100-125, 900cc and 1000cc 110-130 These are average 2 Stroke speeds stock out of the box. F means fan cooled LC means liquid cooled. You could make a 340 liquid do more than 100 mph like the ski doo twin tracks but this is solely based on stock averages.
That depends on the size of the engine. There are a few older models that went about 40 mph. Today there are snowmobiles that will go 120 mph.

Over time belt dust and oil mist combine to form a grime that will cause the clutches to stick/bind making it feel as if the engine has no power due to trying to pull as if in a high gear. Some have even mentioned a "clunk" or "pop" when coming to a stop. This is due to the clutch sheave hanging up and then snapping back to the idle position.

When cleaning clutches, do both the primary (on the engine) and the secondary (driven) units.

Start by removing the belt and inspecting it for wear. (normal or uneven)

Use an air compressor and blow out the inside of both units. (do not breath this dust in, it's not good for the lungs)

Then I use spray brake cleaner (some suggest warm water only, your choice) and flush them out. blow out with air and check the action, repeat steps as necessary. While you are in there, inspect for any unusual wear to the weight arm bushings, the rollers, and the center bushing. Replace as necessary.

After cleaning, ripe down the sheave faces with a dry cloth. Do not use any oil or grease on the clutch units. If you want to lube them, use a dry lube designed for this purpose, either in an aerosol can or loose powdered graphite.

ok i love all snowmobiles yamaha,polaris,ski-doo,arctic cat, ill take any of them but the real question is where and how you are going to be riding. Polaris= boondocking great small bolck mototrs Arctic Cat= trails made more for comfort Yamaha=LONG LAKES big 4-stroke muscle Ski-doo=mountains there really light dude its up to u i own arctic cat and polaris a AC 03 F7 and Polaris 05 Fusion and the F7 is a MONSTER I KICK MAC Z 1000's ASSes all i got is 96 studs and the fusion its ok not the greatest it was cheap and a left over So the best of 08-09 Arctic Cat= F8 sno pro, M1000 sno pro, Jaguar Poalris= IQ Dragon 800 SP, IQ Shift Ski-doo= Rev xp TNT, Rev xp 800 Yamaha= nytro xtx, vector gt

Take it to the DMV for inspection so they can verify that it is not stolen. Then get a duplicate from DMV
