Why didn't Germany win World War I in the first four months of fighting?

Germany, Austria, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria were the Central Powers. They were at a complete stand still against France, Great Britain, and Russia. Ok, so the Russians collapse on themselves because of a revolution into communism (thanks to Lenin), but the Central Powers still had to deal with France, Great Britain, and now coming into the war was the U.S. Essentially, you would think the Central Powers would be able to sue for some sort of negotiations in their favor because the Russian front collapsed, but both sides (Allies and Central Powers) were exhausting their forces, and Germany could not even budge the war in their favor; besides that, the Allies had developed the tank. Germany knew that it was only a matter of time before they would loose, because the U.S. economy was over seas and untouchable. Just like in WWII, it was an unmolestable Garden of Edan. Germany knew that, that is why they sent the Zimmerman letter trying to get Mexico to attack the U.S. Japan would later try to slow us down with Pearl Harbor in WWII, but once again, the size and speed of our economy was too powerful.

Today, we are concerned about an up and coming giant economy, China, but I feel that they too like the Soviet Union are not stable enough to survive what we have been doing since the end of WWII.

What are the rules for a soccer goal-kick?

Several contributors made notes on the rules concerning the goal kick in association football/soccer. They are condensed here:

  • The kick can be taken from anywhere in the goal area (the small box) and is not in play until it has left the penalty area (the big box) into the field of play.
  • After the kick, no player may touch it until it has left the penalty area. If they do, the goal kick is retaken.
  • If the ball does not enter play, if it does not leave the penalty area or crosses the defender's goal line before entering play, then the goal kick is retaken. This applies even if it enters the kicking team's goal.
  • A goal kick is a direct free kick, if it goes straight into the opponent's goal then a goal is awarded.
  • If a goal kick does enter play, but somehow enters the kicking team's goal directly, no goal is awarded and the restart will be a corner kick for the opposing team.

Soccer originated in China for a recreational game or a pastime.

Answer

The rules of Soccer (Association football) were written by a man called Ebenezer C. Morley in 1863. Morley was the first secretary of the 'Football Association' in England who were attempting to standardise the many forms of football being played at the time. Morley based his 'Laws of the game' on ' Cambridge rules' football first drafted at Cambridge University in 1848. Ultimately they failed to standardise football because some of the Football Association founder members could not agree on the rules. They decided to develop Rugby school football instead and in 1871 delivered Rugby Union Football.

Any form of football played before this was not called soccer. The word soccer is a phonetic abbreviation of the word 'Association' coined by English public school students who took the 'soc' from 'Association' and put an 'er' on the end. That is why prior to 1863 the word soccer did not exist. It is probably worth noting the same students called Rugby football 'Rugger' but this word fell out of use.

This game is all over the place, and there can be no real answer to that. It is reported to have been played in 2 to 3 BC, in China, although obviously the rules were way different. The first international match was in 1872 or 3, but internation rules were put into effect in the 1860's, although back in America we were busy playing real sports.
