Black subsistence farmers rarely survived with their farms intact and none were known to have prospered, all suffered and most were driven back into a worse poverty then slavery, * Poor whites suffered but they were always proud that they were better off then the poor blacks whose suffering was even greater since they could not even join the Okie exodus.
