J Stevens Arms & Tool Co was the barrel marking used from 1886-1916, so that's as close as we can get without knowing the model of the rifle. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Not sure about yours but mine is priceless. It was my uncle's and it still fires reliably. Your probably looking at about a $100 if it's in half way decent shape.

Not much collector interest in these, plus it doesn't help that most offered for sale have been absolutely beat to hell. If in truly excellent condition, maybe $250. In typical condition we see these, about $150.

S&W Military & Police Model of 1905, 4th Change. Made in the mid to late 1930's. The star indicates the gun was returned to the factory for some major rework - most of the time indicating a factory refinish but could also mean a new cylinder or barrel, etc. Look underneath the grips and you may find a 3 or 4 digit number indicating the month and year of the rework. Value is going to depend on condition. The factory refinish (if that was the rework) does not hurt this model. Depending on condition, it would sell from $125-$350. If you have the 2" barrel model (rare), it would add another 50%. sales@countrygunsmith.net

First what type of shotgun is it? i.e. side by side, over under, auto loading... E. Remington and Sons began making side by side guns in the 1870s If this is an antique your best bet is to take it to an expert or to send a detailed description to one. Otherwise, modern pump / auto models are stamped on the right side of the receiver and the manufacture code is on the barrel.

Just about any of the utility single-shot 12ga shotguns, whether made by Stevens or just about any of the other manufacturers of that type, will sell for under $100. sales@countrygunsmith.net

I have had 4 Remington 341's. The three were purchased within the last two years. The 341 Sportmaster is a rifle I carried as a youth (traded away at the time, because who cared about them 35 years ago? Not me. Since then I have purchased three of them. The first was a 341 Sportmaster in very nice condition at the local gun shop for $220. The stock was in very nice original finish and the barrel was a burnished color from age. All original, I was very satisfied.

The second was a 341P I purchased from Manders in Christ Church, NZ, without a pic, just a description from him. What a project! Beware of him and beware of buying something that you can't see at least in a picture from all angles. It ended up costing me $650 with the purchase, transport, customs, storage, gas, etc. What a rip! My local gun smith actually redid the bluing and stock and it came out fairly nice, but far from 'original' condition. Had it remained in original condition you and I would not have wanted any part of it. I should mention that my gun smith did all of the work for nothing. Why? I'm a good customer and he is a prince of a guy. He truly felt sorry for me.

The last one cost $200 and was worth it. The guy selling was not the original owner, but had the original cardboard box, twine (the box was held together with twine when delivered) and front sight parts and their packaging. The stock had been redone and not very well, but was not dented up like you would expect. The bluing was very nice indeed! Not perfect, but well maintained by the owners along the way. What great respect for a very limited and fine shooting piece. My plan is to have the stock professionally refinished. I'm a carpenter with some skill, but no match for someone who trully knows what he is doing. It's the only way to go on such a classic rifle. They are not impossible to find, and at a reasonable price. It's kind of like they are a little below the radar screen for collectors, but very collectable in my opinion. Just think, made for only 4 yrs.,very accurate for their time and now. Keep an out and don't pay too much! Good luck and good shooting! Join the NRA and buy a membership for someone else! They are the only barrier between the grabbers and your rights.

The Sportmaster 341 was manufactured and sold by Remington from 1936 to 1940 with a total production of just over 131,000 so yours is going to be at least 66 years old. I do not know where to find parts however but best of luck hunting.

I believer what you have is a Springfield Model 15 .22 caliber rifle. It would be a single shot, bolt action with a one piece integral barrel and receiver. You should also have a manual cocking piece at the end of the bolt. If this is indeed what you have, they were manufactured between 1936 and 1945. There were around 225,000 of them made, many under house brand names for J.C. Penney and others.

You seem to be referring to the Browning Automatic Rifle Model of 1918. That is a selective fire rifle, and requires registration under the National Firearms Act. Any legitimate, registered BAR would be $20,000 or more. Any BAR that is not registered is worth up to ten years in the penitentiary and a $10,000 fine. Ohio Gun Works is making a semi-auto civilian legal BAR with a retail of $5500.
