Why is the next generation the most popular Star Trek?
The original series -- which appears very dated now -- was popular with some of its fans because the stories dealt with more interesting moral issues than the formulaic TV shows of the time. Many people also liked its generally optimistic take on the future. The character of Spock attracted many because of his "cool." Pretty girls showing lots of leg (for the time) didn't hurt either. The show, actually, wasn't tremendously popular with the general public. Its low Nielsen ratings led to its cancellation after three seasons.
When did Star Trek with Williams Shatner first appear on television?
The first episode of Star Trek (the original series) was shown as a "season preview" on NBC television on September 8, 1966. The episode "The Man Trap" was written by George Clayton Johnson.
The first episode intended to be shown was the second pilot, called "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (with Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman), but it was switched with another episode called "The Man Trap." NBC liked the idea for Star Trek, but they feared it was too brainy for audiences. This was one problem with the first pilot in 1965 (The Cage, with Jeffrey Hunter) and they ordered another pilot (Where No Man Has Gone Before, with Shatner and Nimoy, but not DeForest Kelley).
NBC bought the show, but later decided the second pilot was still "too brainy" to be the first episode seen. By this time other episodes were taped, so it was switched it with "The Man Trap" which had a space monster and was considered more accessible. Two other potential pilots, "Mudd's Women" and "The Omega Glory" were later taped as regular episodes, and many scenes from "The Cage" were reused for a two-part episode called "The Menagerie."
Network showing of episodes out of order is a trick to grab ratings (in Star Trek's case, "Man Trap" easily beat reruns on other networks). Another example was on the CBS series "Kojak." The episode "Out of the Shadows" was intended to be the second-season opener, and it was a very intelligent episode. But it was switched with "Birthday Party," which was a standard cops-and-robbers episode. So although "The Man Trap" was not the first Star Trek episode made, it was the actually the first episode seen on television.

How do you play Star Trek in a trumpet?
First of all, the trumpet is a brass instrument which means that you first buzz your lips and depending on your air speed, mouth position and fingering, you will make different sounds. Lots of people think that you have to puff out your cheeks, but you actually don't. It is also a bad idea to breathe through your nose instead of your mouth. Actually the player needs a lot of practice and has to know all the major scales and then he can play the trumpet easily . But it always recommended that a beginner always starts with a bugle which is very easy and WHEN YOU PLAY THE CHEEKS SHOULD NEVER PUFF OUT.

Jeff Hunter's career decisions were made by his wife who turned down his chance at the second pilot, and he was replaced by the Canadian actor William Shatner. Majel Barett, wife of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry was bumped as the unemotional "Number One" by Spock, but she returned as Nurse Chapel who was in love with Spock, and as the voice of the Enterprise computer. As Yeoman Rand, actress Grace Lee Whitney dropped out after eleven episodes under the official story that she was pregnant. Really, she had become an alcoholic nymphomaniac, and it took many years to clean herself up. Walter Koenig did not join the Star Trek cast until the second season because Roddenberry wanted a long-haired Davey Jones type to increase younger viewership. It was originally intended that he be British, but Russia complained that they were not represented in the multi-national Star Trek crew, so Koenig's character became Ensign Chekov. George Takei missed a few episodes of the first season while filming the movie The Green Berets with John Wayne. Kirk's tombstone in the second pilot reads James R. Kirk.
