Well most superstitious beliefs are nothing and can have nothing to gain from but some use it as a way to escape or hide from the reality of the matter such as, most believe in Heaven as a way to show that dying isn't going to be so awful. It's a way to explain the unexplainable. The ground is wet in the morning do to the clouds crying. Just a way to make sense of the universe in a fraud and deceptive way.

No matter if we admit it or not, most human beings are superstitious to some degree.

- We cross our fingers when we tell a "fib";

- Wish on falling stars or the first star we see at night;

- Wish on birthday candles;

- Tell young children there is a Santa Claus, and Easter Bunny and a tooth Fairy; - Toss a few grains of spilled salt over our left shoulders, just in case;

- Black cats are either loved or vilified depending on where you live;

Or take a close look at the wedding practices of your culture, each culture has lists of things the bride (and sometimes the groom) can not or must do to ensure the success of the marriage.

Reincarnation is very much ideological in scriptures but is not supported by science. So it could be regarded as a belief of the school of psychology. Well, there are some signs that I know. The first is when you're in a warm room and a cold chill just randomly passes by you. The next is if you're home alone (or nobody's around) and your hear something (not like the air conditioner or a pet). You may even hear footsteps when nobody's there. Some superstitions that amethyst suposidly has is it can prevent nightmares, thieves, storms, hail, it can also cure headaches, toothaches and nerve truble. It also prevents drunkenness, and failling in love foolishly.

As long as people expect over night wonders to happen, the above concept can not be erased.
