Surgery and Hospitalization

A torn rotator cuff takes at least 6-8 months to fully recover from. My father had this surgery in Feb 2008 and was not fully recovered until late Sept/early Oct. A torn bicep tendon takes 4-5 months to get over. I tore mine in June 2008 and was fully recovered in November 2008.

An orchioplexy is done to correct undescended testicles in young children. It may also be done in adults or older children for testicular torsion which is considered to be a medical emergency because it cuts off the blood supply to the affected testicle.

It varies depending on the operation you had and what was wrong with the septum, it can take a long time for some people to fully heal for example 2-3 months or it can take 5-6 weeks. Don't listen to how everyone else has recovered and how long its took them because it will more than likely be different to you as they will have had a different problem to you, its best to be patient and expect the best and follow the do's and don'ts your doctors told you. You can also get different results depending on what country your doing the operation and also how advanced your hospital is.

Usually after the first few days you'll be in a bit of pain, possibly bleed a little, then after a week or 2, swelling on the outside should go by this time and breathing should get a little better. After 3 - 4 weeks you should start feeling a lot better and a lot of internal swelling should go by this time and you should breathe a lot better, 5 - 6 weeks you should expect to be fully healed or very close, all internal and external swelling will have gone by this time.

"Post-Op" literally means "after the operation". It may refer to a post-op exam where the patient is examined some days after a procedure to evaluate, or a series of actions that must be taken after the operation has concluded.

It is called a hysterectomy.

An orchidopexy is a procedure to move an undescended testicle into the scrotum.

I had bariatric surgery in June of 07. I could not be happier with my results. I am down almost 95 pounds. I feel great. I look great. I eat right. The main issue is getting all your protein. It is tough to do, without supplements. I have about 3 protein drinks per day. It takes a while to get used to the protein and a while to find which drink you can tolerate. I was lucky enough to be recommended a drink called achievone early after my surgery. I havnt drank any other protein besides them.

Dissection of subcutaneous fat and tissue.

Ligation and division of appendix.
Cautery of appendix stump.
Burial of stump by purse suture.


Closure in layers with vicryl rapide and skin sutures via subcuticular sutures with monocryl.

Medications such as Aspirin, Heparin and NSAIDs such as Motrin, Celebex or any medications that thin your blood and could cause you to bleed to death on the operating table.

It prevents the anesthetic from being systematically absorbed. The local anesthetic will cause vasodilation, and this can push some of the drug into systemtic circulation. Epinephrine causes vasoconstricton and keeps the anesthetic drug in the area where it was administered.

Answer Like any surgery there are risks that your doctor will go over with you, but the percentage is very high on successful laser eye surgery.

There is a very good degree of success on laser eye surgery. Typically you will get evaluated by a medical professional first before they will proceed with the operation. There is a number of cases where it is more feasible to use laser eye surgery with a very good success rate. I had it, and it helped. My friend got told that it's not the best idea. So it varies on a case-by-case basis.
