How do you swim freestlye stroke?
Breaststroke is a fairly simple. After you have done your breaststroke pull-out, you will come up for air. You will then duck your head back into the water, you will assume the streamline position. After gliding for a second or two(less if you are racing.), you will scope your arms in a circular position(keep your hands visible. If you cannot see your hands, you are doing it wrong.) while simultaneously "frog kicking". Frog kicking is the action by which you kick your feet in a circular motion, bringing them back together very quickly. When you are bringing your feet back together, you should take a breath then your hands should shoot back in front of you into streamline position. You repeat those steps, and you'll be swimming breaststroke! Hope this helped.
you can jump in a pool as long as you can do it safely, if its no deeper then 3 ft i would advise against it unless there is an emergency and even then its always feet first, if your going to dive make sure its at least deeper then 4ft and its a shallow dive!
Why do people feel cold after a swim?
Theres a few reasons for that. First, once you stop swimming, your body temperature will start to decrease because you aren't exerting anymore energy. Secondly, you're wet, so it is easier to feel cold, especially if there is wind. Thirdly, the pool water was probably cooler than your body temperature so it would cool you.
How thick of wetsuit do you need?
This all depends on the way you are going to use the wetsuit.
The cooler the water you will be in, the thicker your wetsuit should be. However, with thickness comes a loss of mobility. If the water isn't too cold, and mobility is a major concern, a springsuit would be a good choice (shorter legs/sleeves). But if the water is frigid a fullsuit would be the better choice.

What muscles are used when swimming?
Practically every muscle in the human body. This is why it has been hailed as one of the most holistic exercise methods ever developed.
okay the muscles you use would all forearm extensors as well as flexers. tighten your fingers as if you were swimming and pulling your hand through the water. you will feel all the muscles in your forearm tighten. next you will use all your muscles in your upper arm as well: brachioradialis, brachialis, as well as the biceps brachii. and definitely your corocobrachialis......okay easy. you use them all. now your shoulders. obviously you will use your deltoids and your rotator cuff ( infraspinatus, supraspinatus, and teres min & maj) your back you use your trapizius and rhomboids for shoulder stabilization and your latissimis dorsi as well as all your abdominal and oblique muscles aid in rotation throughout the stroke. and just as easy you lower body: your gluteus maj. min, and medius all work as synergists to each other. the deep gluteal muscles ( piriformis, gamellis....) are mainly used in external rotation so you can forget about them. and your legs....any muscle that its' function is to extend or flex your hip, knee or foot are going to be used in swimming.
swimming is such a great workout BECAUSE it uses almost allyour muscles.
Here it goes: Thighs, calfs, biceps, triceps, every part of your back, heart, brain, lungs, abdomine, pecs, muscles in your feet , all the muscles in your hands, your wrists, your ankles, your jaw, your eyelids, your tounge, your fingers, your toes, your jaw, your neck.

In terms of modern day Olympics, the first IOC sponsored games were in 1896 in Athens, Greece.
The men's triple jump was one of four jumping events on the Athletics at the 1896 Summer Olympics programme. There were 7 competitors in the triple jump, then known as the "hop, skip, and jump" despite the wide range of techniques used by the competitors. The event was held on 6 April, immediately after the first heats of the 100 metre race. Since there was only one round of the triple jump, the winner was crowned as the first modern Olympic champion.

Why did swimming nearly vanish from society for one hundreds years?
The perception that swimming was not healthy.
Why does the lane in a 50m pool have to be 2.5m width?
First, it provides ample room for swimmers to spread their arms when performing certain strokes (the breaststroke and butterfly strokes both involve the arms swinging around to the side while being pretty flat relative to the surface). This requires sufficient width to prevent accidental collisions.
Second, it (along with the lane dividers) helps to reduce the cross-lane turbulence. One swimmer's wake can interfere with (or in some cases, even help) a swimmer in an adjacent lane.
Is two lengths equal to one lap in a pool?
Some people feel that a lap and a length are the same thing. They will use the terms interchangeably. Competitive swimmers do not often talk about lengths, but when they do they usually mean one complete length of the pool. As such, a lap generally refers to two lengths. For example in a 25 yard pool, a mile is ~35 laps, or ~70 lengths.
Webster's II New College Dictionary uses the following definition for lap in regard to pools: "2.b. One complete length of a straight course, as in a swimming pool."
How many 25m lengths of a swimming pool equals 1500 meters?
25 meters = 0.01553428 mile, or 1 mile = 1609.344 meters. So 64.37 lengths of a 25 meter pool is a mile. It should be noted that in the US 25 yard pools are much more prevalent than 25m pools; the opposite is true at the 50m length. At 1760 yds/mile there are 70.4 25yd lengths in a mile.
I wouldnt necessarily call it "Fatty" Food that swimmers need. Swimming is a sport that requires many muscles and parts of your body to work in a near-perfect harmony so that you can swim faster. This burns many many many calories per day depending on how much you swim. To keep a swimmers daily calorie intake normal and balanced after burning 1100+ calories a day; that swimmer must eat how ever more calories it has burned then usually so that each day they intake around 2000 calories.
A swimmer who has to eat extra calories a day ( like me ;] ) can eat whatever to keep its daily intake back on track. This could be done by eating Cupcakes and burgers all day or eating things like pasta, or other Regular food. Usually it will be found that swimmers don't eat fatty foods to re-gain calories because if your competitively swimming later that day - it doesn't feel that good. The best thing for a swimmer to eat is Pasta before they swim.
Hope that helped!

How do you treat dirty swimming pool water?
If the water is cloudy you could have a couple of problems.
1. Could be out of balance; many factors lead to this, check it and fix it. You can take a water sample to a local pool & spa place for professional advice.
2. Green means algae; scrub and shock.
3. Filtration system could be messed up or just full. Particles may be recirculating.
Easy answer is to shock it and vacuum. How does it look the next day? Go from there. If it is dirt you can see on the bottom (ie. alot) vacuum to waste instead of to the filter. This will remove the particles but not clog the system.
