She paid the loans. Then one day she found Madame Forrester and told her the truth and how she lost the necklace and replaced it with a new one. She found that the necklace was fake and not that expensive. It cost only 500 francs.

Madame Loisel doesn't tell her friend about her lost necklace right away because she is ashamed and embarrassed by her carelessness in losing such an expensive item. She worries about the consequences of admitting her mistake and the judgement she may face from her friend and society. the irony is Mathilde desperately wants to be of a higher class so she sacrifices one night of excitement and being noticed by the rich that she ends up spending her whole life even more unhappy and poor than she started out because she borrowed what she thought was a diamond necklace and ended up losing it.

The ultimate irony is that the necklace that Madame Loisele borrowed to prove that she was a member of high society proved to be as fake as her belief that she was a member of that high society.

No, one deals with a social-climbing stunt- a wealthy woman loans a valuable prop ( or what is assumed to be) to a middle-class woman to wear to a party- the item is mysteriously lost.. then the lead character feels conscience stricken to launch a campaign to get up the value of the piece- which takes years and she is reduced to poverty in the interim- it turns out- the piece was an inexpensive wearing copy- not real diamonds at all- O Henry did a similar yarn where in a sense, the Bad Guy was the Bank of Richmond, circa l862! - there are no real evil people in (Nec klace_ though pride run amuck is a thematic, and the social-climbing stunt reduces the victim to poverty, instead of a luxury front. Ont he other hand the Most Dangerous Game deals with the reactions of man who is marooned somehow ( accident, ship wreck, something like that_ on an Island dominated by a Mad Russian ( this was written in Czarist times_ who pursues indeed the most dangerous Game- People-hunting, ( not treasure hunting or elaborate props_ here there is real violence and escape and evasion. a film was based on the story called also The Hounds of Zaroff, who was the mad Muscovite man. in the Hunting story=- I detect a vague hint of homosexuality... He smokes perfume-scented cigarettes .

The Necklace is about material greed and dishonesty, and has no connection other than both are focused mainly on female characters, and The Lottery was written by a woman. N"uff Said.

A job for Mr. Bell. She should have called up MMle Forestier ( owner of the lost item- immediately upon return from the party- when she noticed it was gone. Fatal pride- or maybe- well let us be real... she might have been drunk.. Senator Kennedy waited nine long hours ( to sober up) to report the Chappaquidick accident- while Mary Jo Kopechne was helplessly drowning- and it didn't happen fast like a gunshot. It has been estimated the poor girl was struggling for life at least four hours after the accidental (?) crash. Pride goeth before the Fall. Here pride cost a young woman"s life- far graver than a wearing copy of a necklace. Maybe Mme Loisel ( called also Mathilde in the story- was DRUNK>

The first thing that happened in the story "The Necklace" was that Mathilde kept on whining that she didn't have anything fancy and she wanted to be rich. But as in drama the first eventful thing that happened to Mathilde was that her husband got her a ticket to go to the fancy ball, which she also whined that she didn't have a fancy enough dress to go to the ball with.
