Younger kids can definitely play too. It is an extremely addicting but fun game.
The Sims 3 is the base game and there are many separate expansion packs that add different aspects to the game. Supernaturals adds supernautralists, seasons adds season, generations adds more family things, etc. Stuff packs add more stuff like clothing, furniture, etc.

Ok if your really stuck on getting promoted on the sims for ps2 take my advice. Get A Life mode isn't easy but once you know what to do when it comes to a promotion it is. :) Make sure your sim has plenty of hunger,hygene,bladder,social,energy and fun comfort and room doesn't matter but make sure you fill these. It all depends on which games you played first and which games you play last. But you should get it from the gondola base, so just go there and play all the mini games until you get it.

It all depends on how well you take care of them. You'll notice that a sim had no birthday after they become elders. That means, sadly, they could pass away at any time. If your sim keeps their mood levels high and achieve their aspirations, they will live a long, happy life. But if your sims life is full of adversity, they will live a shorter life. Happy simming!
