Is a lightning a source of light?
It is certainly a source of light but it is not a practical, usable source.
How does unstable air contribute to storms?
For a storm to develop, air parcels from the ground and the lower atmosphere have to get lifted to the higher atmosphere. The trigger for this to happen, is the instability of the air. warm air from the ground gets lifted while cold air from the higher atmosphere gets descended, thus the barycenter of the atmosphere gets lowered. The energy freed by this is the storm.
How does unequal heating related to the formation of tornadoes and thunderstorms?
Thunderstorms arise from unstable air masses. Instability generally occurs when the lower atmosphere is warm and moist while the upper atmosphere is cold. Under these conditions, a blob of air (called a parcel) that is nudged upward will become warmer than its surroundings and continue to rise on its own. However, something has to give it this nudge. This often comes in the form of a cold front, which develops when a cooler air mass pushes into a warmer one. Since cool air is denser than warm air, it forces the warm air up, which can trigger thunderstorms under the right conditions. Tornadoes are a product of thunderstorms, and so are dependent on much the same conditions.
Where do the most severe storms and tornadoes occur?
The most severe thunderstorms and tornadoes occur in a region of the United States called Tornado Alley, which stretches across the Great Plains from Texas to Iowa.
Is there potential for a high risk of severe thunderstorms on may 11th 2014?
It is not likely. Currently the moderate-risk outlook has been issued for hail, for which the SPC does not issue high-risk outlooks. Only slight-risk outlooks have been issued for wind and tornadoes.
When was Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder created?
Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder was created on 2008-10-27.
When do winter storms occur most often?
Winter storms most often occur between late November and early March, with peak activity typically seen in January and February. These storms are influenced by cold air masses from the north colliding with moist, warm air from the south, leading to snow, ice, and freezing rain. The frequency and intensity of winter storms can vary based on geographical location and climate patterns.
A thunderstorm does not strike anything, it is "lightening" that does that.
What everyday sounds make high pitch and low pitch sounds?
High pitch:
Do the wetlands get hail or sleet?
Yes. Wetlands do not have a unique climate and can be found in a variety of climates, many of which can get both hail and sleet.
How do you describe a cumulonimbus cloud?
it is a dark, heavy cloud. also called a thunderhead. usually results in short, heavy rainfall.
What do thunderstorms tornadoes and hurricanes affect?
Hurricanes, thunderstorms, and tornadoes can all cause damage to vegetation and man made structure through their winds. Hurricanes and thunderstorms both produce rain, which can sometimes lead to flooding. It should be noted that hurricanes produce thunderstorms and thunderstorms, including those found in hurricanes, are what produce tornadoes.
